If you have deduplication-enabled Storage Policies that are using an AWS S3 Infrequent Access tier or an Azure Cool Access tier (either directly, or via Combined Storage Tier configuration), there is potentially an opportunity to optimize your cloud storage costs by reviewing the associated DDB backup configuration.Noting that AWS Infrequent Access Tiers and Azure Cool Storage Tiers have a 30-day minimum storage duration, and that DDB backups are generally performed daily but only retained for 0 Days / 1 Cycle, it is more cost-effective to use S3 Standard / Azure Hot Access tiers for those DDB Backups.For example:100GB (DDB Backup) x $0.023 (S3) x 2 (accounting for once-daily data aging) = $4.60 per Month.100GB (DDB Backup) x $0.0125 (S3IA) x 30 Day Minimum Storage Duration = $37.50 per Month. For smaller environments it may not be worth the effort to change anything, but with our DDB Backups to S3IA exceeding 1.5TB, we are looking at an annual cost reduction of ~$6000.

We prepare a new Cluster Installation for HW Refresh and get this error:Error: The installed Microsoft SQL Server instance is not of the required version. Please upgrade/update the SQL Server to at least [SQL Server 2012 SP2] and try again   But we the installed the SQL from the Media Package 11.24.34 → SQL 2019 - 15.0.2000.5 2xWin 2019 with Pre-Installed SQL Cluster 2019Any Ideas?

Hi,I have configured the following Topology which has all clients backing up to a HSX Cluster via Proxies. The Proxies have the following installed.  All backups & restore are going through the proxies and I am happy with this setup but I have two queries. Is there a way to tell what proxy the backup job going through ? You can’t see the proxy mentioned on the job logs or under streams running the job.  You also can’t see if when you add the Network Gateway column to your job controller window.  When testing restores I stop the CV services on two of my three proxies. I run a restore job and the job fails and it says it can’t communicate with a proxy “name” - my thinking here is it tries to use the same proxy for restore as it did for backup and as its off its fails. If I select Advanced Options → Use MediaAgent and select the only running proxy then the restore job completes. Is there a way for the restore job to look for a Proxy that's able to communicate rather than me having to

I would like to upgrade SQL Server from 2014 STD to 2022 STD, which has commvault database engine, but i couldn’t log on as it showing about wrong password.CommServe Version 11.28.115. Can i upgrade SQL Server without process of full backup Commvault DB?at ComCell, is there any option to export all setting or DB export?

Can anyone advise on how to integrate Infinidat with Commvault Intellisnap. Can we Use Commvault aux copies to copy the app-consistent primary snapshots to another storage array Or Commvault storage.Will these remote copy snapshots will be revert capable ?

HiAny suggestions on which FR to upgrade too? I have 4 Physical MA’s that meet hardware requirements and are running 2016 standard. The CS is also a beefed up physical machine running Server 2016 and SQL server 2016. From my reading on the community, 11.32.* might be more stable as long as I have reached the requirements. Please do not send URLs, they are very unclear to say the least. I’m just looking for personal experiences and recommendations. Cheers Neil

Hello!  I find myself once more confused about the partner types and partner badges for Commvault, as used in https://www.commvault.com/partners/find The badges for individuals are listed in https://www.credly.com/organizations/commvault/badges, but not those for companies.  I see there Aggregator, Distributor, Managed Service Provider, and Solution provider as types of partners, and I can’t tell which does which.And the badges don’t seem very self-explanatory to me either. Service Advantage and Service Advantage Plus probably mean second level support, as contrasted to CASP? What does the “plus” mean though?And CASP seems to be first level support? And then it’s sorted again in four tiers? What do these four tiers mean though…?

Hi,I have recently set up an environment for backing up private teams chats. I have configured everything needed for finding and retrieving chats and it works fine. But one of the scenarios that i am trying to achive is *searching a keyword in the backups -insults for example, in legal cases- . But i cannot see the teams app when i try to select it from the review set of Case manager or in a Compliance search.Is there a configuration that has to be done or Does the Compliance search feature not include Teams application ? Used Commvault version​ : ​​​​​​2024E (11.36)

Hi all, We have configured backup for a Nutanix AHV Hypervisor using the NAS Transport mode. Backups and restores succeed, but we have not opened port 111/2049 to the Nutanix AHV Nodes (which are hosting the NFS Datastores). We do see connections to PRISM (Port 9440). How can our backups/restores succeed using NAS Transport mode? If Commvault can’t connect directly to the nodes, does it fallback and route all traffic via PRISM or something? Hope someone can clarify.Thanks!

Hi All,I’m trying to backup MongoDB and already installed and configured for backup. When I run backup, there is issue of volumegroup no space.When I run the vgs command, the volumegroup did have 0 free space. However the FileSystem (LVM) space have plenty of free space. Can we utilize the LVM free space for the native snapshot?Other than adding extra disk to extend the volumegroup, is there anyway that I can backup the MongoDB?Its a sharded MongoDB using ubuntu.Regards,Fauzi

Having  chatted to Pure Storage, I got  PG = Protection Group; SM = Safemode; Commvault uses vol snaps for most operations. PGs come in when customers use async replication or explicitly enable PGs in the CV config. (CV also called out PGs for Oracle archivelog snaps; I haven't tested this myself to be sure whether it always uses them or only in those two cases.) CV creates its own PGs per subclient (data set) and cannot enable SM on them (until they are on APIv2--this was the "first" I mentioned)--but customers can enable SM manually. Dynamic detection means they will adjust the PG members based on where the data sits when the backup job runs. VMs moving due to Storage vMotion, adding or consolidating vols in a DB, etc. will trigger CV to change the PG membership. If this includes removing a vol, and SM is turned on for the PG, the job will fail and continue to fail until Pure support can remove the vol.Auto-on is a separate consideration. I have a customer who has configured a new 4 node Windows Cluster. Everything looks in order on it, but the SQL instances aren’t being discovered when creating a cluster pseudo client. The SQL instances aren’t being discovered at a client level either. SQL permissions for Commvault are all correct.I can run a File level backup at a node level so I know all connectivity is OK.The Commvault Cluster Process on the nodes won’t start up which would explain the SQL instances not being discovered. In Windows Cluster Manager, all nodes and roles look to be healthy, but the Cluster Events have a large amount of the below errors. There is a fix for it, which the customer is busy with at the moment.My question is, would the below error cause the Commvault Cluster process to not start or is that a separate issue?I would have expected to at least have SQL instances discovered at a node level?
