Good morning! We’re setting up a PG instance with Commvault.  We’re running on RHEL which has a default block size of 4k, but it appears PostGres uses a block size of 8k.  Should we be setting RHEL to use 8k blocks for the database mounts?  If so, can you tell me why?  Our OS folks are curious. Hello Community, Our client wants to us to trigger Oracle dataguard backups only from secondary node. I couldn’t find a setting on “Preperties” to set it. Does anyone know how to do it? Or if it’s even possible? The primary node is very loaded so they wish to run all backups from secondary. Thanks!!Zivile

Hello,Planning to add a new partiotion to an exiting DDB. I’ve went through the documention and have a doubt on the below.The addtional 0.5MB of data will be added only to the magnetic disk the holds the DDB or will it be also added to the Disk library mount paths ? “After running the Backup1, you add Partition2 and run Backup2 of the same 1 MB of data. After the second backup, 4 signatures of 128 KB size will be added to Partition2 (even though the same signatures exists in the original store) and for the other 4 signatures only the reference will be added in the original store (as the signatures already exists). The magnetic disk will have 1.5 MB of data (1 MB from the first Backup + 500 KB from Partition2 from Backup2).On running data aging, if Backup1 is aged, then from the first partition the first 4 signatures will be aged and also 500 KB of data will be pruned from the magnetic disk.”

Hi all, At a customer, we are using Combined Storage Tiers:CV 11.28 AWS Deep Glacier / Standard-Infrequent Access We have a few questions on this:When we do a restore, the Recall workflow kicks in. We see that it initiates the Recall and then waits for 13 hours before checking the Recall Success. Why is it only checking after 13 hours? The data might be available sooner, so it would make sense checking earlier.   Which Recall type is used by default (with CV 11.28), is it Standard or Bulk? Thanks in advance!

We have an installation of Commvault 11.28.36 in an AWS environment.  There is only 1 Commserve servicing multiple VPC’s with each VPC having it’s own Media Agent(s) and S3 Bucket(s).  We have Couchbase installations in various VPC’s and currently we use the Couchbase backup utilities to dump the backups to EFS which are also mounted on the media agents.  From there, we do EFS backups to S3. We are interested in exploring the Commvault Couchbase backup process with targets to S3 and have a few questions:  Does Commvault Couchbase backup process just utilizes the Couchbase backup utilities?  Is there any document that provides technical details on the backup process? Currently, with the EFS backup, we are utilizing the Capacity Based License.  If we move to this Commvault solution, what license will it consume? I appreciate insight into to this. ThanksChuck

We are planning on swapping production VMs between our two data centers on a regular basis. We’re using Power Max storage with SRDF Metro (synchronous) replication, VMware with SRM protected VMs, Commvault Primary backup at the DC where the VMs happen to be at the time and an AUX copy at the other DC. We backup VM snapshot images (so Agent-less).We can configure SRM to maintain UUID after a failover to the Secondary site (secondary vCentre), so the licensing issue seems fine. SRDF Metro replication keeps the sites in sync, so from a VMware perspective, both sites ‘see’ the same disk IDs. My question is about finding a way to configure Commvault to recognize the AUX copies as Primary, AND, more importantly, continue to leverage the same CBT info from the Primary site. This should be possible given SRDF Metro maintains bit level duplication of all disks/blocks.Without CBT continuation across sites, after failing 500-ish VMs over to the Secondary site, we’re looking at at

I am working on some performance issues with my backups.Looking at the media agents during the backups, looking a the media/proxy agents I am seeing what I think is high latency on the loopback adaptor.   in the screen shot below you can see in in Windows resource monitor the latency for vsbkp, cvd and other processes are around 30ms.   The loopback adaptor is internal to the server, never touching a ethernet switch or wire, so I would think it should be much lower right?I am wondering what type of latency other folks are seeing on their media agent and or proxy agents during backups?Thank you ahead of time!

Hi Team, The Watermark or Threshold that triggers the space reclamation is actually dependent on the low watermark threshold set at the Library Properties. As per the Commvault documentation, the Auto Space reclamation job is applicable for Disk. How we can enable it for Cloud Library?

Hi all,I have installed a “Virtual Server” package on a linux VM but the VM is not listed as an Access Node when configuring access nodes for a Hypervisor or a VM group.Couple of days ago I installed two VM with same OS and same Commvault packages and these two VM became available as Access nodes immediately.(Commvault release is 11.32.35)Could anybody help, please?Thanks,Lubos 

Hello!Is there a way to create a new server plan and disable the creation of the default snapshot primary copy?I don’t want to go to commcell console and delete the automatically created primary snap copy. I just want my primary copy and tape copy when I create a backup plan.Regards,Pedro

Hello All,  I am facing an issue that is come from time to time, it happened in my DR site, however I observed that once scheduled backup started it been in running status till next day morning with no progress, till I force susbended the job and resume again it will work and completed successfully. kindly advise if the same issue might happened to you . thank you all
