I previously had AD backup working and my DC cratered.  The DC is up and backing up again but AD is not because there is no agent on the rebuilt DC.  I have a ticket open, which led me to this.What I can’t figure out is how to download the AD agent again.  It looks like the way it’s done is as part of the AD backup setup in the first place.  All of the connection info is still in place.  Is there a way to re-load the agent, or does the setup have to be done from scratch (as in Add → Active Directory)?

We are trying to observe how commvault sends delete requests.Does it leverage  ‘versionID’ header in DELETE operations for s3 buckets’ objects?Or the delete requests are more of non-versioned delete requests?

Have Article IDs and the “article?p=” functionality been dropped from documentation.commvault.com?

I have a backup request to backup a new file share location (a file share) that handles image files (not sure of type or format). Currently the size is about 500 GB (number of files is unknown at this time), but there is some talk of it becoming larger to possibly > 10 TB (or ultimately “many new files being constantly moved in and out of this folder at regular times” vs total size of the folder). We are backing up a lot more than this of “unique data” across the systems so 10-20 TB is not a huge amount of “new unique data” being backed up, but its enough to make me reconsider just adding it without some thought.Currently all of my backup storage policies use DDB’s (we have a few).  I did not set any of the storage policies we have up, just inherited it all.If I used our ‘standard” storage policy for our file shares (that all use DDB’s), would the (possible) size of > 10 TB of image files blow up my DDB’s or cause some unintended consequences to the DDB (as the d

Question: I’m wondering if Commvault can be made to “auto retry” backing up a database if there are certain types of errors (when the database is online, and other DB’s are able to be backed up, just some failure occurs with a single DB)Why: We have been having some issues with backing up MSSQL DB’s and its very intermittent. I know “find out what the connectivity/issue is” is probably the right approach, but time and rarity keep this from being a priority. As with many I have tried to move as many clients to plans as possible. Fail seems to be the word of the day when you have 4 very large (NFS shares) subclients all associated with the same plan and we need to schedule Full backups on specific days of the week due to when those subclients have data written to them throughout the week. Basically we want week fulls but never on the same day as getting a full completed on all 4 subclients in the same day is a non-starter as is getting that copied to the remote site within 24hours. So, since we don’t want to rely on the auto-magik synth full scheduling but really pull fulls from each of those shares, staggered every other day (more or less), and there is no way to simply decouple the schedule policy the plan created for those subclients, do I need to remove the plan from each subclient, then assign schedules and manually re-assign the storage policy of that original plan or is there a more elegant way?I don’t see groups and blacko

On each Deduplication Engine we have 3 Dedup Databases, named DDB_Files, DDB_VMs and DDB_Databases.I am now adding a new Media Server to the platform but I can’t figure out how to create the 3 DDBs for the local Deduplication Engine, to reproduce the configuration of the existing MAs. May anybody be so kind to suggest me how to do? Thank you!Gaetano

Hello All,We have 2 Media Agents where the backend storage is going to be replaced with the advanced storage so that the support is available from storage point of view. We have 2 different libraries from two different media agents. So now my question is how will I move the data from the library to new library within the same media agent. The backups are running continuously and they will be running without any break. Let me know if you have reference links or steps to perform these steps.RegardsKishore 

I’m wondering how to add an incremental SP into a working environment without causing mission critical BUs to fail.I have 4 “very large” NAS/NFS subclients which all go to a SP which currently has just one S3 destination for all jobs. It was becoming impractical to send all fulls and incs to tape and the business requirement is just “daily backups to tape” so we do synthetic fulls, but, even occasional synth fulls then would need to copy to tape, all wasting tapes due to cycles, etc. I had talked to one of the guys in support about this and it sounded “easy enough” but when I try to deploy, things don’t look like it was described over the phone.So, what we would really like to do is have only incremental jobs copied from that S3 copy to tape. No fulls, ever go to tape. We also don’t want to skip any incs going to the existing primary bucket.I thought it would be as simple as creating a new incremental policy but I have observed that if I have any Incremental SP’

Hi Everyone! I am looking to see if there is anyone else that is backing up Microsoft AG clusters with nodes that are hosted in different geographical DCs? We have the MSQL AG client configured at the moment to backup to “PLAN - DC1” but when the DBA’s failover the cluster to another node, the backups are being transfered across the WAN from “DC2” to “DC1” Should we not configure the backups using the AG for these DBs and confgure them on the clusters nodes instead and configure the storage polices to point to the Commvault Plan for that site or is there another option? Thanks for your time!

Hello everyone,Two months ago we put two new media agents into operation with a new backup storage. The two old media agents were shut down. Since you don't want to restart the old media agents due to the old operating system, the question would now be whether it is possible to remove the mount paths to the old media agents (LUN's) from Commvault? The data has a retention period of 30 days and this should also have expired. If we could open these paths like that, that would be great.RegardsThomas

Hi I have this customer that are using Commvault version 11.32.xx. And this customer only support snmp traps version 2. And when I am looking to configure the snmp traps inside Commvault, I can only see version 3 support. I am fully aware of the security issues with other version of snmp traps, but is there any way, you can configure Commvault ver. 11.32.xx to use snmp traps version 2?Many thanks in advance!

Team , how the hypersalce x , media agent handle the jobs when a failure of one job occurs , i have performed a testing where a job was running with media agent 2 of hyperscal node 2 and i shutdown the same node , 1> the running job is on running mode - and no progress  2> i started new job and it completed successfully started the node 2 and still no progress on that job and it failed .why was it not assigned to any other media agents - and why the job is handled only by one media agent - i can see restore jobs used all 3 media agent but backup is by one , do we have control on this . 3> after the nodes came up , there was a restore job happned from node 2 to node 2 - may i know what basically getting restored ?

I’m backing up a few NAS subclients that are between 10-30TB each.Currently they are scheduled to do a synthetic full backup every weekend with incremental backups every weeknight.These are then aux copied off to tape.Because of the very low change rate in reality probably 95% of what’s written to tape each week is exactly the same as the week before.The speed of the aux copy is becoming an issue as I don’t seem able to aux to two drives but drop down to a single drive when other backup jobs need the second drive.So my question is whether I’m stuck in the past in a traditional GFS mindset and I should look at the “Automatic Synthetic Full” backup option?All backups are kept on disk and tape for a minimum 30 days and extended retention keeps monthly full backups for a year.We have a stupidly quick media agent with an NVMe dual partitioned DDB so in theory we’re doing best practise so the synthetic fulls only take an hour or two each bu

Hallo CV Community, we have got two tapes which are in the Media Group ‘Catalog Media’ but when the job is running to catalog this media we got this issueError Code: [62:2158]Description: Failed to initialize catalog operation for media.Source: s190a0010, Process: LibraryOperation We are also not able to move them to an other Scratch Pool. We can view the content of the media tapes. We have got write protection hardware based on the tape drives active (switch on LTO6 tape). Any ideas to solve this issue with the catalog operation? BRPhilipp

Hi folks-One of our media agents was upgraded in error by a colleague to 11.24.56, while our Commserve and every other MA in the org is running 11.20.50. This misstep broke Aux Copies for the media agent that was upgraded.I opened a case with Commvault some time ago, and the engineer assigned told me the only solution was to upgrade the Commserve to 11.24.56. That’s just not possible for us presently for a number of reasons.My question is has anyone ever rolled back a major release update successfully on an MA? Or do you otherwise have a solution to what we find ourselves in here? I tend to believe the CV engineer and concede we’re stuck, but considering this particular MA is backing up only AD data in a very small domain, if there is a way, this might be the time to consider it. The risk is minimal.Thanks 

We have a disk storage and we have a limited space on that disk and don’t have any plans to extend the storage on the disk. In weekends the storage utilization is high and could you please help me to process to reclaim the storage on the concern disk.

Team, we have a centralized private metrics reporting server that I just configured. I need to run a report to test that it’s successfully reporting on data from the (successfully registered) child commcells. What would be a specific report to run for this ? I ask because I know some of the reports will only report on the local centralized private metrics commserve itself.
