Hi!We’re currently running a .bat script to do some simple copying of files to another destination, and we’re in the process of updating this to a powershell script, that basicly does the same, but does some additional checks and such first. I’ve verified that i can run the script manually with when i’m logged in as the user specified in the “run as user”  But when i run a disaster recovery backup, i get the followig error:  Error Code: [7:78] Description: Unable to run [C:\Path_to_Script\Name-of-script.ps1] on the client. Internal Error [150995005] in CVSession while communicating with remote host [Remote system [FQDN of Commcell server]. Remote execute request returned error: [].]. [] Source: commcellserver, Process: startPrePostCmd  Anyone know what could be the issue here ? As far as i can see/understand, there should not be any “Remote System” ?

Hi,I have a DDB that has high Q&I times. This is hosted on a an AWS EC2 instance with the disk type being “gp3” with 300 IOPS.Below is the Databases section. The Files portion of the DDB is not reporting the same issue. My concerns also includes the very high Pending Delete Records in it.  I can see that the Data Aging jobs do run as the Prunable Records does go down

Hello,I missed the information about the installation/configuration. (or I'm looking wrong)I understand only (based on the documentation) that every region must have 1 VSA.Is it possible to have 1 VSA (or 1 VSA/MA) for all subscriptions in one region? If yes, how do you build that within Azure? If no, then every subscription needs own VSA/MA? If no (from question 1), how do you arrange communication between VSA in different subscription? Is that with virtual network peering? Or should we look at hub spoke model (Azure)?

Hi All,I have deployed Storage Accelerator on a Linux host but it does not seem to be working as the cloud team states that data transfer is still occurring cross-account.My setup is as follow:Client - Account 1S3 Bucket Account 1Media Agent (DDB) - Account 2The Storage Pool is created with DDB enabled on the Media Agent in Account 2. The idea is to have the client writing to the S3 bucket in the same account.The Media Agent can access the bucket across the account as backups are completing. I tested uploading a file from the client to the S3 bucket by using "aws cli s3 upload" command which completed successfully.I also added the ARN credential on the cloud library for Storage Accelerator. 

Hi, the customer has two locations. A and B. On both we have separate media agents with library attached. Media agents between locations don’t have any communication and we can’t change it.He was doing VSA VM1 backup on location A. They have migrated VM1 to location B and started backup. Full backup is working fine but during incremental we have problem with restoring indexes. During incremental backup the job tries to restore index from location A to the index cache on media agent B. As there is no communication between them we’ve got an error and the job failed. What can we do about it? Can we somehow recreate index on media agent B? Regards,Lukas

I would like to have both on one Commserve machine but I am not sure if these 2 roles can be shared on one Commserve Computer.Do I need to create separate Commserve as license server and another one for Primary Commcell or is it a supported configuration to have both on one Commserve? Thanks,

I am trying to configure my CommCell to forward logs to a syslog server, but I cannot find where to enter the syslog server details. I am unable to follow the procedure in the documentation, as it starts by referring to a ‘Navigation Pane’ that does not exist anywhere in my version 11.28.63 console, nor does any other button, icon, or link that leads to a menu named ‘Manage’.  The Control Panel does have a ‘System’ icon in the ‘CommCell’ section, however, the resulting menu does not have a ‘Syslog server’ tile. There do not appear to be any reference images of the console interface available anywhere, so I am at a loss to figure out how to proceed. 

My command center is decent, but often I have to wait while the Command Center populates. I would assume that this sluggishness is a combination of web-server performance and sql performance.Are there tips and tricks out there to make this thing fly?   

Earlier this year I switched my OneDrive backups from V1 to V2 backups and it was a problematic exercise that took several months and several support tickets to get working.  I’m trying to confirm our retention and storage for the auditors and an having some difficulty.  When I sign on to the Command Center, I see that OneDrive backups use the OneDrive BU V2 plan (Command Center > Protect > Office365 > OneDrive for Business > OneDrive_V2 > Content).  Clicking the OneDrive BU V2 link, I see the retention is set to 3 years (1095 days) but that it doesn’t specify the backup copies.  Plans > OneDrive BU V2 > 3 year retentionIf I go into Protect > Office365 > OneDrive for Business > OneDrive_V2 > Configuration, in the Infrastructure settings section I see Server Plan is O365_Plan.

We introduced a new storage library in our Commcell and I am trying to copy some backup jobs over to the new library by creating a new Copy in storage policy. Initially I disabled the Data Aging option in the retention tab of the new copy. The goal was to stop the data aging from this new copy so I can compare job numbers in this new copy with job numbers in the old copy to ensure that all backup jobs have been copied over. Now when I enable the data aging and set extended retention rules, it doesn't look like it is being applied to existing backup jobs that have been copied to this new copy. Does anyone know how I can set the extended retention rules to existing jobs?

Hello there, I have a customer for which we deployed HyperScale X clusters (11.32) for which we used the CommServe Registration network along the storage network. But now, they want to separate backups on a dedicated network. So now I’d like to add that management network, but I can’t find a documentation page on how to achieve it. I think this was accomplished in some config files on the nodes, but can’t remember which and how.Anyone has a hint on how to achieve this?Many thanks in advance.

Hi Team, Question:Why can't I define retention for Storage policy in Laptop Plan created in Command Center?The question arises from the fact that the created SP is created for 90 days/1 cycle by default, which keeps the retention of incremental and synthetic backups for the entire days period despite synthetic backups being made.The DataRetentionForecastandComplianceReport shows that backups are kept for basic days - excerptHere is the view of the jobs sorted by Synthetic Full due to the large number of jobs:

I have created a powershell script using powershell sdk module to run multiple vm level backups which runs the backup but when i use the same powershelll script inside a workflow it doesnt work for some reason giving me message : I NFO: Get-CVClient: client not found having id [0].  Is there some limitation or something wrong the way i am passing the scrip inside workflow.

Hi Vaulters, As per our customer concern, they have a Tape Library, which they want to use with a new MA that will be deployed, the main thing is that they hesitate which is the best way to deploy the MA (Virtual or Physical). The main points are as follows :Virtual : Easy deployment, HA provided by VMware Layer, but complex configuration with the Tape Library. Physical : Easier to deploy with the Tape Library since it can be directly attached, but no HA.Does anyone already faced this situation ? And what’s the recommended infra for the MA ? Even when it comes to performance. Regards.

Hello,There is a post related to the hardware refresh we want to perform but there are references to the HA installation with LiveSync configured. What would be the correct order to perform such task? Should LiveSync be dismantled and HW refresh carried out on a standalone host and then LiveSync setup again?Just for clarification as the post title might be misleading, HW refresh of both primary and standby commsrv instances.Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi We are setting up an EC2 access node in AWS to take backups from our Aurora Postgres estate. We use Amazon Linux 2 for all our EC2 deployments - but it seems for Aurora PostgreSQL its not supported.  Why is it OK for Aurora MySQL but not Aurora PostgreSQL??? It seems a bit odd that the linux OS offered by AWS wouldn’t be supported.We would prefer to avoid RHEL as it would have cost / license implications (we use RHEL for on-prem deployments) and CentOS is a discontinued Linux distribution. Additionaly RHEL7 is a 10 years old OS that ends maintenance support in June 2024We are extremely keen to avoid windows because:(1) It stores Temp files on the access node will taking backup - (we are finding that failed jobs don’t clean up the temp files and eventually fill the temp space) - we want the data to just pass through the node -  and not provision an expensive big EBS volume - we wil

Hi,I have a question regarding register a client with RestAPI.In our environment we install by default a decoupled file system agent on each client.In case we need the client to register (e.g. for additional agents), we register the client via Console and fetch the configuration from the client. Additionally we have a script, which can do the same. This script is using qcommands.Since we are planning to migrate all of our scripts to use RestAPI instead of qcommands, we are looking for a method to perform the register via RestAPI.I saw, there is a function for POST Install Client, but I didn’t get it running to do the registering only.Do anybody has a clue how to perform a register and fetching client info only?I tried to check that Command Center and have a look on the “aquivalent API”, but it seems a register only isn’t implemented there. Also in the documentation there is described only how to perform via Console and SimCallWrapper.

Dear teamWe need a confirmation or explanation for the following restore issue. IntelliSnap Backups are running every 6 hrs.Only the last daily “full” is selected to be backup copied to a disk library.For NAS and Virtualization IntelliSnap backups, an incremental backup Job is interpreted as full.As  the result the last IntelliSnap Backup of the day is selected to be backup copied. Consultant did a Full VM restore from the copy available on the disk library but after the completed restore, the virtual machine did not come up. Since only every 4th backup is moved to disk library, he’d expect, that an incremental backup copy uses the last completed backup copy as reference point for the backup copy.But for him it looked as if the incremental backup copy is referencing the latest Snap Backup instead. Please confirm:Commvault needs the data of ALL incremental snap backups to enable a c

Goal is to migrate exchange v2 archived backups from disk library A to B (no tape involved). With that environment we allow users to access webconsole so that they can restore deleted emails if needed. My guess is that during the Aux Copy emails continue to be visible through webconsole without any impact there?!? Once I Aux Copy from Primary to the Secondary copy, I also assume that the promotion of the secondary copy to primary will then be the used by all the exchange indexing servers?Media agents/Exchange Access Nodes/Index and Wenconsole are all separate servers.Generally I would just follow the process listed on the links but wanted to check with the community and see if I am missing anything here. We have a fairly large amount of backups to move (over 150TB) and I want to make sure I`m covering everything before I start.

SQL DBAs want to be able to create Availability Group clients for themselves, and I’m all for it.However, they don’t have the New Client button in the ribbon that I have (I have the ‘master’ role). I have been looking for what permissions to assign to a role for them but haven’t worked it out yet.I have read Books Online (which caters for Command Center we don’t use) and have found nothing there to help.DBAs can backup and restore SQL clients no problem, now I need them to create AGs. Can anyone help with what role needs to be defined for this? Hi, We had our Oracle RAC being backup by the Commvault. The backup is running ever since with any config changes or past issue but suddenly our DB team complaining of latency issue due to Commvault is doing backup of data in node which is the active which consume a lot of memory and cpu resources of the DB servers. The DB is questioning why the backup is performed in the node 1(active) as they assume it runs in node 2 before that is why no latency issue encountered in their end. The challenge question to Commvault is is there a way the backup process is deviating from doing backup from one node to do it in another node automatically? What is the behavior of Commvault Oracle RAC backup, where the data is read to which node and is there a way to change it by default to read in another node of the cluster?
