Scenario:Local on prem copy - 60 day retentionAux copy to Azure - Long term retentionWe would like to set compliance and worm lock on the Azure copy. Questions:In prior feature releases, the suggestion we were given was to have multiple libraries/storage pools that would be rotated half way through the worm lock. Example: A 30 day retention/ 60 day worm lock, at day 31 you switch jobs to a different worm library for 30 days, rinse repeat. Is this still the case? Our Azure retention is up to 7 years. Would the best option be to have the first Aux land in a hot storage bucket that’s immutable for 30 days, and a 2nd aux written to a non immutable storage account utilizing DDB for the full retention period?

Hello,I observed, that using a schedule to initiate a syntheticFull, with run incremental backup before selected, against a Vmware virtualization subclient (vcenter - vmware - backupset - subclient) is failing.running syntheticFull only, triggers synFull backups for all protected VMs of that subclient.can someone explain the purpose of this additional setting: bEnableVSASnapSynthFull ?according to the documentation this is set to a default of: false.BRKlaus

Hi Team, Added a new Tape library in the commvault software, it was added & configured successfully, but when tried to export the media by “ Listing” option it is throwing error no media available. Medias are inserted the physical TL & the inventory is also performed. Have attached the screen shot. Please help here. regardsKangkan

Hello!With the end of Windows 2012, we have some media agents that are being refreshed, both virtual and physical.In most cases we’ll be using the APP/workflow or the manual method to move them, but in a few cases we have some sites that during clean up and condensing that ended up with 2 media agents. Is there a way during the process of an OS refresh to combine two media agents? e.g. move the jobs and content so that everything is on one happy VM/box? As well, since this is the time to clean up some sins of the past, is there a way to combine Mount Points? E.g. previous admins decided to make 2-3 smaller Mount Points and I’d like to combine this into a single one. Can this be done with the Migration APP?Any help, suggestions or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.Thanks!Devin

We’re looking if there is an additional settings that removes the possibility for non-masters to forcefully delete clients. To be clear: our customers still should be able to retire clients, but the next step delete clients should not be presented and should not be possible. The client objects who were given a retire command will be removed automatically once all jobs have been aged off. Is this possible? The security model only allows you to revoke the delete permission, but this also remove the retire option. So, this is not what I’m looking for in this case. PS: We already use the business logic workflows and we are not looking for a 4-eyes step here. 

Hi Team, We have a question W.R.T data deletion in below scenario:Test case: We have a worm storage policy with data retention of 1 day 1 cycle. We have taken 2 full backup’s(1 cycle retention is completed), when the retention is completed shall my 1st backup be deleted? Will the second full backup taken be on storage forever or it will be pruned at some point.Test case 2: Scenario : We have a worm storage policy with data retention of 1 day 1 cycle. If we perform only 1 full backup and no further backups being taken, will data get pruned when retention is over or since the cycle of retention(2 full backups) criteria is not met will the data stay forever. 

FS based Backup ends with a warning: Could not back up [0] folders and [1] files.the dumpbased backup goes fine.In de PostGresBackupChild.log I see :2309890 233f02 09/20 14:15:56 2109431 ClBackupFile::OpenFilesForBackup(7033) - failed to stat path '/data/postgres/13/wal/inst1/archive_status/000000060000000000000045.ready', errno=2, error=No such file or directory There are no *.ready files in that dir or elsewhere. Every time I try the backup again I will see a similar message, but with an other filename. The number goes up.Any idea on how to troubleshoot this?

Hello,We have bought a new tape library and we want to create some auxiliary copy jobs to run on a weekly basis for 4 storage policies only for the full backup job's(the client schedule is a full once a day/incr every 1 hour)The auxiliary copy jobs must all run during the weekend and occupy not more than 2 tapes( we have tapes with big capacity-16TB) because we have only 8 tapesThe question is, how can we make the copy jobs to write and fill up one tape and after to try and fill up another tape when the first one is full?For example: after the first copy jobs is finished, the second one needs to use the same tape like the first one (if there is still space available of course)and when the tape is full, write on another one and so onBest regards,Stefan   

my backup storage has filled up rather quickly. I set up a blackout window for pruning after aging some of the older backups but, the SIDBPrune.log shows “12724 34c8  11/07 15:08:01 ### PRNCTLR StartPrunerThreads:4536 Not starting any pruning threads as pruning is disabled on MA” . I believe i have enabled it in every place i could find. could anyone provide me a list or point me to an article showing all the locations this could be enabled/disabled from? Thank you

Hello, I am considering deploying FREL’s from OVA to be configured as Access Nodes in a VMware Backup solution.https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/143780_deploying_vmware_file_recovery_enabler_for_linux.htmlIn the environment there will be a production network and a backup network.  Do FREL’s support the installation of a 2nd NIC to meet this requirement?  The FREL must be able to talk to the vCenter on the Production Network and transmit the Data to the MediaAgent on the backup network (achieved by using a DIP).  thanks in advance for any assistance!  

Hello everyone,I used to have three Exchange 2013 servers (INF-SRV2/3/4) – none of which appeared as “operational instances” in CommVault – which we’ve had Exchange DAG backups configured on since before I started working with CommVault.  Now we’ve got two Exchange 2019 servers (INF-SRV12/22) and when I added one of the servers to CommVault, it appeared as an operational instance and pushed me over my license limit. It’s a little frustrating that none of my old Exchange servers counted towards my “operational instance” license threshold.  Is there a way to add my Exchange 2019 servers WITHOUT them counting as “operational instances”?Ken

Hi,I am preparing a custom package for the server team to install (silently) new agents on multiple servers. I would like those servers to be assigned to a specific Client Computer Group after installation. Back in the day when creating a custom package there was an option to select custom Client Computer Group for the installer, but that’s not the case anymore. Since I cannot assign Client Computer Group during custom package creation, the only way that I know to do so is to extract created package and edit install.xml adding:<clientInfo>    <clientGroups clientGroupName="CustomGroup"/>...</clientInfo>into it.This works great but now I don’t have self-extracting executable.Is there a way to re-create it with modified install.xml?Or is it possible to pass Client Computer Group as parameter during install, like with laptop package?https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/86895_performing_silent_installation_for_end_user_laptop_package.html

When I try and restore a Notebook, I do not get a functional notebook that will open.  Are there other pieces that need to be restored in order to have it work properly?

Hi,I’m trying to restore backup of databases from our production SAP HANA database server to another physical server in our DR site but i’m getting the  error code: 19:599 Loss of control process ClSAPAgent.I have checked the param file in the DR server,CV_restCopyPrec and srcCrossclient is present. Communication between the commvault server in the DR and the DR Hana database server is ok. Any help to resolve the issue is much appreciated.

Hello! I know we can run scripts to validate applications (when using Application Validations for VMware VMs).Commvault has a few ready to use scripts (Oracle, SQL Server, MS Defender). Has anyone customized this MS Defender script to use another AV engine (like ESET, Symantec, Kaspersky, Trend Micro)? I heard that Veeam has a feature called Surebackup which kind of comes ready to use (checkbox) a few AVs instead of having to create custom scripts. Regards,Pedro

Since upgrading to 11.32 (FR13) the Storage Utilization report is reporting incorrect / outdated information.Specifically the Library sizes and free space. It is also not updating when new Disk Libs are added.We use this report to monitor and plan for onboarding / provisioning of new storage.Could someone please share an XML that I can import? Or is anyone else having the same issue when using the Command Center?
