Hello,I have some tapes not assigned to the good commcell, do to librairie with different partition. How can I remove the tape from commcell 1 and assign this tape to commcell 2 ?RegardsAlexandre
Hi Guys, Anyone on commserve linux? Could you tell me if you are able to deploy any workflow? I am getting ‘Error connecting to workflow Engine on the console’...on cvd.log i see: “ Unable to connect to server: 0xECCC006F:{CQISocket::Connect(358)/ErrNo.111.(Connection Refused)}Nothing recent on the WorkflowEngine.log since the installation. Not sure if this is supported for linux commserve, though i do not see it explicitly provided in the limitations of commserve documentation.
Hello!Consider the following scenario:Oracle CDB DB named CDB01.Oracle PDB DB named PDB01Oracle PDB DB named PDB02Oracle PDB DB named PDB03 Customer wants to backup PDB01 only once and keep it for 5 years. So, subclient is created pointing to PDB01 only. Full Backup is made, including logs. Consider January 1st as the backup date. PDB02 and 03 need to be backed up daily. Then, a subclient is created, including PDBs 02, 03, CDB&ROOT and PDB&SEED (excluding PDB01). That sublcient is backed up with daily fulls. With 1 day retentions. I noticed that the backups for CDB01 (excluding PDB01) which are daily made, with 1 day retention are not getting pruned. Day retention and forecast report states that the CDB01 jobs are required (LOG_ RULE) by the PDB01 job (which previously ran only once and will be kept for 5 years). How to work around this situation?PDB01 needs to be backed up only once in its life and be retained for 5 years.PDBs 02 and 03, are backed up daily. And retention is o
Hi,“If I move a server to backup to a different plan, will Commvault force the next backup to Full?”
Hello. Will greatly appreciate your feedback/guidance here. I need to enable intellisnap for subclients with the data on a netapp source. It’s vmware, and supposedly volumes that are “just volumes”: not nfs, not cifs or anything specfic to a particular application. The customer “doesn’t want NDMP in the environment”. I see in the NAS client there is, ndmp, nfs and cifs as options. How can I configure the nas client to snap ‘generic’ or just ‘ad hoc’ volumes for lack of a better way to describe them without using the ndmp or nfs or cifs agents under the CV NAS client ? I am not seeing a way to do this. The storage policy is set up with a snap primary copy for the source and a vault/replica copy to a destination netapp. The customer doesn’t want ndmp used and doesn’t want streaming method used. Is this even possible ?Thank you!
Hi community. I would like to create a dynamic WizardBlock that iterates over a list and displays PopupInputs for all the entries in the list. I tried it already like in the picture below. Unfortunately this just puts every PopupInput after the other but without the “back” and “next” buttons. It is completely ignoring the WizardBlock. The same apllies to a modified version where I put the WizardBlock inside the ForEach loop. Any ideas if and how I could achieve my goal? I would even go with a solution created dynamically by java code if there is no other option. But I also cannot figure out how I would do that. Best regardsPasqual
Hi,I have so far replaced three drives in our DELL/EMC ML3 Tape Lib and still experiencing the same problem. Currently, there’s one valid drive that is working fine - when it comes to the other one, it is mounted and immediately unmounted after a couple of seconds - one try after another in an endless loop.According to DELL, there’s nothing in the library log that would indicate the root of the problem (the log is clean) - they send me another drive and then the case is closed until the issue rises again.I tried swapping the drives in slots but the problem is following the same drive no matter the slot. At this point, I’d like to exclude software-related cause of the issue.Currently, the number of errors associated with mounting and unmounting the drive is way over its threshold; that might be the reason why CV is ignoring the drive completely - how can I reset the counter? Is there a particular procedure I should follow when replacing a drive? I can see there’s an option ‘Mark drive a
Hi, I want to set up SAML for a customer who uses Azure AD as identity provider.SAML application has been configured in Azure AD and Identity server in CommCell too. However, logging fails.
Hello Team,We have SCOM in our environment so wanted to understand if any additional benefits I can expect if we integrate it with CV.Because CommVault is already good for Alerts/Reports.
The drives holding our DDB are currently fluctuating between 85 and 95% full. We’re in the process of procuring larger drives to replace the ones currently in our mediaagent, but in the meantime…what happens if the drive holding our DDB hits 100% capacity?
Hello Community Can Commvault back up the VMware SRM appliance/server? If yes, what is the process to do so? thanks

Hello community Oracle RAC : (v19) CV: V11.28RAC has been set up with a configuration involving 2 nodes. The installation and configuration of the RAC setup in Commvault were completed yesterday. issue: Can’t raise the "Log Threshold streams" value beyond 1. Within the Commvault log's "Backup" tab, 'number of archive Log backup stream: 3' set for each of the nodes.I'm attempting to modify the "Log Threshold streams" value, aiming to raise it from 1 to 3. but, whenever I navigate away from the field or confirm the change by clicking "OK," the change is not retained. Instead, the value reverts back to the original setting of 1.I've reviewed the settings of other existing Oracle RAC configurations involving two nodes. In those cases, there are two archive backup streams allocated for each node, and the "Log Threshold streams" value is adjustable up to 4. thanks
I’m looking to upgrade :-)Upgrade 11.22.66 to 2022E or 2023E any gotchas, to be focused on please. Is it a direct upgrade option? thanks
We’re using Commvault v11.28.48 and have several jobs that are in a “waiting” status and sitting at 10%-20%. The reason is simple: Mount path does not have enough space.I’m new to Commvault (our backup admin left recently and I wasn’t involved in the initial config or daily use) so I may be missing something obvious, but I thought aged data would be deleted automatically. I’ve run the “Data Retention Forecast and Compliance Report” and see the various estimated aging dates, the only thing that sticks out is the last line under the Disk Media Summary:Estimated Size to Free: 9406 GB (this box is green: “prunable job / recyclable media”) Delay reason for physical space cleanup: Archive file has been queued for pruning from the DDBOur Netapp library is 24.7TB with a size on disk of 24.46TB, reserve space set to 100GB, so an extra 9TB would be great. “Enable pruning of aged data” is checked on the library.Am I correct in thinking that 9406GB is data that should be automatically removed (pru
Hi Team. Have a netapp a700 that has vmware datastores and cifs/nfs shares. I need to set up intellisnap and a storage policy snap primary (and a vault/replica copy of it) to do this. I have a specific storage policy for vmware and a specific storage policy for files. I’m currently working with the vmware policy first. I’ve created the snap primary and the vault copy (with the snap primary as the source) the source and destination svm’s have been added and are confirmed correct. lifs and peering relationships set up. In a vsa subclient, I’ve enabled intellisnap and have selected some test volumes in ‘content’. The proper relationships have been configured for these between the source (a700) and destination storage (a netapp 8700) for the vault/replica. When I run a backup copy from the storage policy and also from the intellisnap enabled subclient I get the error “job will not be started. snap backup copy job does not need to run.”. Can you kindly suggest what might be misconfigured
move clients to new client group in commvault in bulk
Some great answers on my previous posts so trying my luck with this one! If the entire Commvault environment were to be destroyed, CommServe, Media Agents, VSA’s deleted for example but DR backups of the CommServe Databases held on a functioning file server. Can Commserve be reconstructed, and the Databases reimported (thinking definite yes for this!) Same machine name and IP? The tricky one now! Can a Linux Media Agent be manually rebuilt (yes) BUT can it access and use backups that were written to a NFS share by the previous Media Agent? Obviously, all Index Cache and DDB database that was on this machine will have been obliterated OR may actually be also backed up on the same NFS share by the scheduled DDB, index server backups that will have run. Lastly the actual CommServe, Media Agents and VSA components will also have been backed up by Commvault in VM based backups and also held on NFS storage. Can these be resurrected from the dead?Is there a flow chart or process on how to a
Hello,I need to create a workflow that performs push network configuration to the client. Do any of you have such a workflow and could share it with me, or is anyone able to direct me how to do this? Thank you very much in advance for your help!
Hello,I'm not sure if compression/dedupe savings for this DB is fine. Actually, it seems poor… any ideas on what it could be? It's not a special DB…The online fulls are below 30% in savings. Incrementals and archive logs are above 50% in general..Regards,Pedro Rocha
Hello Team. I have a storage policy with a snap primary which snaps a netapp a700, and a vault/replica (not a mirror) that CV orchestrates the replication between the a700 and a fas8700. There is a primary copy as well but I don’t want to use this as the source copy for the storagegrid copy; i want to use the vault copy as the source copy for the storagegrid copy. I am creating a new storagegrid synchronous aux copy and the only options to pick for source copy are primary and storagegrid. The only configuration I can figure out that works is to have a primary copy, which copies the snap primary copy, and to choose the primary copy as the source copy for the storagegrid copy. Is this expected behavior of the program ? Is there any way to configure the program so a storagegrid copy can have as its source copy the replica/vault copy ?Thank you!
Hi folks,Although all vendors now have servers using 4th generation Intel processors, our reference architectures (for 24 disk solutions) still request 2nd generation processors. This is causing a problem, vendors cannot provide the product for these old servers and processors we configure (such as HPE Apollo 4200 with Intel 4216 CPU and/or Dell 740XD2 with Intel 4216 CPU).Will these reference architectures be renewed in the upcoming period? Is there such a study? Are there any roadmaps on this?Even if there is a study carried out on this subject, it will be very useful information for us.Kindest Regards.
Hello, we have a NetApp Client that we would like to backup using a File System Agent and NetApp SnapDiff. Our environment is not configured for V2/V3 but V1 works as expected when creating new subclients. However when trying to backup an older subclient (same Client/Backupset), apparantly Commvault is not using SnapDiff for the Scan-Phase. Extract from the logs:Subclient property [Disable SnapDiff Scan] set. NetApp SnapDiff cannot be used. Using classic recursive scan. I don’t see any way to disable that property. Neither in the subclient settings nor in additional settings.Further I don’t even know how this property got set in the first place - SnapDiff V1 used to work on that subclient before. Maybe you have any idea how to set/unset that property? Regarding our environment:Commvault Version 11.28.72NetApp ONTAP Version 9.12.1P4
I need the syntax to add the stub files on the backup filters at the subclient leveleg :normal file exclusion : *:\**\*.xlsbStub file : What’s the syntax
Manager is asking if commvault support migration of old tsm data to commvault. I have read this documentation https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/103543_migrating_tsm_data_to_objectstore.html Has anyone any experience doing this? I am not quite sure this is the best way forward..
