I have removed a client that we didn’t need anymore, but I forgot to first remove it from commvault. Now when the client is gone, I can’t remove it in commvault from the client computers?
Customer is backing Azure NetApp Files. Can they tap on CV managed backup gateway so they dont need to manage any infra? What are the caveats? I understand that the traffic will be going through public endpoints? Any egress charges for customer?
Question on GUI audit trail. It was my understanding that the audit trail captures all CommCell console gui operations that are being doneon the Commvault environment and many more. The Commvault documentation appear to show this is not the case. Loading Commvault licence for example is not reflected in the GUI Audit trail. So if GUI audit trail does not capture these significant changes or config change in the environment, then what Commvault report does it. I raise this question as it is very important that we have some tracking as to what changes are being done in the environment and if the GUI audit trail does not track everything and no other Commvault feature does then it makes it hard to monitor any changes (unapproved changes ) done in the environment.Thoughts, suggestions and reactions are most welcome
Recently we did a upgrade of Commvault to 11.36 from 11.32. During the update, the update failed on our index server because the disk was full. We freed up some space and was able to complete the update. After the update, everything backs up fine except exchange which is our index server. I have gotten nowhere with support. Is there anything I can look for on the index server or Commvault itself? I am running out of ideas.
I have an Oracle 12.1 environment and need to keep the archive logs for 24 hours. I tried multiple configurations:Subclients (Default and ArchiveLog): Tested with “Archive Delete” enabled and disabled. Schedule: Tried “Delete Archive Log” with: Older than 1 day and Backed up 2 times. Also tested with these options disabled. Results: The only change occurred when using Older than 1 day and Backed up 2 times, which added the following line:delete noprompt archivelog until time = 'sysdate-1' backed up 2 times to sbt; However, the line:(archivelog all delete input);remains in the script, and I don’t know how to remove it.I will try a custom script, but I prefer a Commvault solution. During my research, I found a possible approach using three subclients:Default: Full backup + archive logs without deleting. Archivelogs: Hourly backups of archive logs without deleting. DeleteArchive: Daily deletion of archive logs. For now, this option is not possible because even with every delete flag disabl

Dear Team, Good day!We currently have a physical server that is acting as both the CommServe and MediaAgent on a Windows platform. We are planning to migrate the entire CommServe role to a Windows-based virtual machine. Additionally, the same physical server will be reconfigured with a Linux operating system to function as a MediaAgent. At present, the disk library mount paths are configured on DAS (Direct Attached Storage) connected to the existing physical server. We would like guidance on how to perform this migration seamlessly, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing backup and restore operations. Regards,Mani D
Hi all,Could you please advise me on how to back up Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online or SharePoint Online) specifically to an on-premise location?I would like to verify if my understanding of the architecture is correct: Access Node: Is it correct that I need to install an Access Node (proxy) within the customer's on-premise infrastructure? I assume this node handles the communication with the Microsoft Cloud and downloads the data.Storage Target: Is the local disk library selected as the destination storage when I Create a Microsoft 365 Plan? I am currently looking at this documentation link: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/software/getting_started_with_exchange_online.html#procedureProcedure: Verify that your environment meets the system requirements for Exchange Online. Add access nodes. Complete the Microsoft 365 service catalog. Create a Microsoft 365 plan. Add the mailboxes that you want to back up. Perform a test backup and restore. Is this the correct p
I need to know whether we can connect an S3-compatible repository provided by the customer (“cloud storage”) to Commvault in order to store additional backups as an “off-site” copy. Technically, we know that the connection is possible in principle, but the issue of encryption arose during the project. Could Commvault encrypt this backup with a separate key that is only available to the customer? It is crucial for the customer that the data is protected by its own key and can only be managed by the customer, rather than being encrypted with the general Commvault key. Otherwise, in the worst case scenario, the customer would no longer be able to access the data and would not be able to decrypt it due to the lack of a key. The question is whether it is even possible to restore data on S3 storage that has been backed up with Commvault without running Commserve.
Good morning, We are new to postgres databases and are implementing our first production cluster soon. What are you all using for your log backups in terms of scheduling? We are running in continuous archive mode and currently have backups every 15 minutes. Even 2G backups are taking under a minute. What are the considerations for setting this? If our RPO is 5 minutes, would it make sense to backup every 5 minutes, or is that trying to fit Commvault into a high availability box that it is not designed for?If using FSBasedBackups, are you also using regularly scheduled dump based backups? In what scenario? Thank you very much, this forum has been fantastic!-Chris
I am currently running Commvault version 11.36.80, which manages a VMware vSphere cluster (version 8.0.3) through vCenter (version 8.0.3).I would like to integrate a Proxmox cluster (version 9.0.1) into this environment. When attempting to upgrade Commvault to version 11.40.26, I receive a prompt indicating that the SQL Server must be upgraded first.Below are the steps performed for upgrade SQL Server: SQL Server 2022 Express Edition: When I install SQL Server 2022 Express Edition, I am able to successfully upgrade Commvault to version 11.40.26. SQL Server 2022 Standard Edition: When I install SQL Server 2022 Standard Edition, everything appears to complete successfully, but afterwards I am unable to upgrade Commvault to in any way. Q1: Can Commvault version 11.40.26 run reliably with SQL Server 2022 Express Edition without any limitations or known issues? Additionally, are there any specific prerequisites or considerations for using SQL Server 2022 Standard Edition with Commvau
The master server is currently using v11 sp14,I'm trying to install the client redhat 9.7 version, but can't I support it? If not, which version of sp can I support it from?
Hi guys!I need your help.I am trying to use AirGap Workflow to set proxy cennection between MediaAgent ‘cvmakrk01’ and CommCell Infrastructure.I have created following computer groups. Then I have created the following Networktopology for AirGap workflow. My goal is to push Commvault to use ‘cvproxy’ client to set tje network connnection between MediaAgent ‘cvmakrk01’ and Commvault infrastructure anf the use AirGap workflow to turn on ‘cvproxy’ only for the time of AuxCopy jobs. However, I can see, than even if the ‘cvproxy’ is powered off, the Check Readiness still shows me that ‘cvmakrk01’ is ready. MountPath Validation and AuxCopy job runs as normal. What is important, I tnink, CommServe LiveSync is configured in my environment, so I can also that ‘makrk01’ uses LiveSync network topology for communication. Probably this is the reason, why ‘cvmakrk01’ is always ready. Is any way to set the ‘cvmakrk01’ to ignore LiveSync proxy client and use only ‘cvproxy’ client to communicatio
Hi Team,From last couple of days HANA Backup is getting failed. In the Client system showing two instances (instance001 & instance002). Instance001 services is stopped & we are not seeing commserve entry. Instance002 services is up & running, all the relevant data is visible.CVD port in Instance001 is showing 8400 & 8401 is showing in instance002.While trigging backup job in the logs we are seeing CVD port 8400 & job is getting failed. One more point post agent upgrade we are facing this issue. we upgraded agent from 11.28 to 11.36.
Good afternoon everyone.I have a question regarding a complete environment update. In this environment, there's a machine running Commserve and MediaAgent. It previously had version 11.32.122 and was updated to 11.32.80. When I check communication with this machine (performing a Readiness Check), it indicates that the Web Server and Command Center are not ready. However, the software programs open when I try to open them. Is this normal after an update, or am I missing some configuration steps?I've attached screenshots of the situation. I would greatly appreciate your help.Thanks.

Hi everyone,I’m planning to convert virtual machines from VMware to Hyper-V using Commvault’s “VM Conversion” feature. The official documentation https://documentation.commvault.com/11.42/commcell-console/converting_from_vmware_to_hyper_v.html mentions that a Windows Server 2012 R2 host is required as the destination system. Is this requirement still valid, or is there support for newer Windows versions? best regards,Andreas
I currently have an environment running Commvault version 11.24, and I am planning to upgrade to version 11.32. The CommServe database is hosted on Microsoft SQL Server 2012.Before proceeding, I need to confirm the following: Is SQL Server 2012 still supported in Commvault 11.32? I would appreciate any guidance or experiences from similar scenarios.

We have a large number for VMware VMs that are getting migrated to new hardware. As such, the VMs will reside in a new VMware virtual client within Commvault. Is there a way to take a VSA based user defined subclient and it’s contents (namely the VMs) and move or clone them to a different virtual client? We’ve looked at the clone_subclient_template.xml but that appears to only clone to the same virtual client not a different one. Has anyone done this before or know of an auotmated way to accomplish this? Thanks!
We’re excited to share an early look at the next generation of Commvault Documentation, introduced at this year’s Commvault SHIFT event. The update includes a refreshed visual design, easier navigation, and a new unified documentation site called the Commvault User Guide. What’s NewA cleaner, more consistent designThe new site looks and feels more like Commvault’s products. You can switch between light and dark modes to match your environment, and the updated layout makes it easier to read and explore. Commvault User GuideThe Commvault User Guide brings together documentation for both our Software and SaaS offerings in one place. For now, it’s a preview of what’s coming. Over the next year, we will expand and refine it until it becomes the single home for all Commvault documentation.Existing SitesDuring this transition, the existing SaaS and Software documentation sites will stay live, and we will continue to update them for new features and fixes. The only changes you'll see today ar

I have a customer asking for integrating SaaS with service now. Sending alerts from SaaS to SNOW. I know the docs that describe this integration that we have are just for MSP. Could someone please help me out with what the web hook configuration needs to look like to send to snow?
