Hi,I’m currently experiencing issues with Hotadd backups using a VSA Proxy. The VMs running on the same ESX host as the Proxy are being backed up via Hotadd. However, VMs running on a different ESX host than the Proxy are being backed up via NBD.As described in the Documentation: “If the virtual machine and the proxy are not on the same host, all datastores must be shared between the hosts and the hosts must be within the same datacenter. “All datastores are shared between the hosts but they keep using NBD. I checked the logs and I can see Hotadd being disabled:6452  1724  06/24 07:27:12 XXX CVMWareInfo::AdjustTransportModeForBackup() - Disabling Hotadd for VM [XXX] on NFS storage hosted by [XXX].  Proxy is hosted by [XXX]What am I missing here?Any ideas are appreciated!

Hello CommunityI'm exploring options to stop Commvault Windows client services in silent mode via the command line. I have observed that the command 'GxAdmin.exe -console -stopsvcgrp All' only works when UAC (User Account Control) is disabled. otherwise, a confirmation prompt is required when UAC is enabled.we have many servers and don't want to modify GPO each time to disable UAC, I have noticed that during the CV SP upgrade process, the Commvault services are automatically shut down in silent mode, even on servers with UAC enabled, it never prompt to confirm anything.I'm seeking info about the specific command used during the CV SP upgrade to achieve this automatic shutdown of Commvault Wins Client services in silent mode, regardless of UAC settings. thanks

Greetings to All,I am facing the issue that we have encountered with a disk on our Hyperscale node. Upon checking the system log, we have found that the disk has failed. Hi,i have create a new client to backup my AD. The DC is a virtual machine on vSphere.I have installed the AD agent and file agent.I see there a VMInstance:What is that? On my old DCs (also VMs) i see this: When i release the license or delete the VMIntance the next day it is back.RegardsDennis

Hello CommunityAfter restoring a physical SQL server that is apart of a always on cluster to a vmWare VM the mount points did not work.The disks were restored in an offline state and could be brought online manually.However when using powershell to list the disks of the server it only found 1 disk.So the question is whether or not it is possible to use P2V to restore a SQL cluster?

Hey everyone,I have a question to the community regarding some automation for commvault client.We have a process that builds a cloudformation stack, then we used Chef to deploy pertinent applications ( like the commvault client).  Before the stack can be deployed, it runs through a mock build using kitchen-test.  This works great with one exception.  It creates a client in the CommCell from the kitchen-test. Does any know of a command or script I can run against the CommCell that will remove the client that was created during the kitchen-test? Preferably in the chef recipe vs having to run it on the server.

Trying to allow granular access per content that would help users manage restore capabilities.How can I do this?

I ran a SharePoint restore to restore some documents from deleted items but none of the files restored. 

①What does Metallic refer to for "Team Display Name"?②What does Metallic refer to for "Team SMTP Address"? Is it referring to the email address of the M365 group that is automatically created when a team is created?

Our SAP HANA server was migrated to a new hardware . The new server has the same hostname as the old server but with new IP address. the Commvault client was installed on the new server and connectivity between Commcell and new server is working fine. Check Readiness on the the existing pseudo client is ok. However when connecting to the instance it is showing “unable to establish connectivity with these instance properties. instance properties validation failed. Please check DB credentials”. I’m using the SYSTEM DB username and password was verified by the SAP team.The ClHanaAgent.log shows these errors:ClHanaAgent::ExecuteBrowseDiscoverdatabases() - HDBSql command Failed. Please check the connection password/ Bring the database online..Please advise on how to resolve this.Thank you. 

When I try to backup Azure Database for MySQL flexible server, I select add cloud DB instance, it have not show the db to let me select…anything I’m still missing in configuration?  or flexible server is not supported? more info:tried standalone azure db for mysql and backup is success. backup server deployed on Azure, in same subscription. version: 11.28 using app id, grant right on subscription level with contributor tried grant right on resourcegroup level also also tried VM managed identity with mentioned right  

I have been searching on Commvault Docs about the One touch restore, I don't see where it says to use the Similar Disk or Dissimilar Disk option. I was informed if the new server being restored to is the same size or larger you can use Similar Disk option. Does anybody know or have a doc on that question.  Thank you 

Hello everyone,I have both physical and virtual servers in my environment, vms are hosted on esxi.Recently I installed wamp server on one windows vm and configured the backup for complete windows server via commcell and it’s running fine but I could only see file level backup while I also need for mysql database which is a part of wamp server so that i could recover any accidentally deleted database in bad case.NOTE: unlike other physical windows servers where I installed commvault agent in windows server and configured file system backup and mysql backup instances seperately, everything works fine. While in the case of windows vm, I cannot see mysql instance after expanding the vm name in commcell console client computers. do i need to configure mysql backup instance seperately like what i did for physical server? what exactly am i missing?Any help will be appreciated.Attached the screenshots for more clarity

Hello Team,We are testing Commserve failover test using production maintenance, while performing the activity it’s getting an error. Comparing the database and binaries version...    Failed LiveSync and replication jobs are running properly as per schedule but every time failing in that step during failover.  Please advise. 

hey I have a spectra logic black pearl I’m trying to write backups to. The issue is i can record a data out from my commvault server of 130 Gig/s but I am seeing less then 10Meg/sec into the black pearl w/ 10 gig fiber line. It has two hops from commvault to a switch and then to the black pearl I’ve been trying to fix this for a few days now. I’ve fixed Dns Entries to they have reverse lookup and aliases. The two devices share the same Vlan. I’m not really sure what is left to try. Any thoughts or a place to start would be helpful Thanks

Hi, We are trying to restore a backup job from SharePoint Online, and we have successfully managed to run the backup job. However, we encounter the following error when attempting to restore. [Error decrypting password] We have tried restoring back to SharePoint Online, to the proxy server, and to a SharePoint on-premises SE server. Unfortunately, we receive the same error message regardless of where we try to restore to.Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Thanks!

Hello to all,I read all similar threads about Commserve DR, but I didn’t found exactly my case.One of our client has on-prem 1 X CS and 1 X MA for VMware backup.Also, an additional MA in Azure, for synchronous aux copy to Blob Storage.The case here is to test / simulate a Disaster in on-prem infrastructure and proceed some test restores to Azure.(VMware → Azure VMs)My concern is the way to temporary “move” the CS in Azure for the test.The LiveSync is not an option (extra cost on Azure), so Im thinking the workaround of manually DR restore through Recovery Assistant tool.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/43536_testing_commserve_failover_using_disaster_recovery_dr_backups.html Also, what about the rollback process back to on-prem CS?Any feedback about that?Thanks a lot!

I’m looking for functionality similar to the old nExpireUpdates key, but built for how things work in v11 -- where the CVMedia folder could be programmatically removed from the clients following successful install (or after X days).We are an MSP and many of our client machines are very tight on free space.  So I’m looking for a way to prune/expire/delete the CVMedia folder from clients. Is there a way to do this?I realize the reasons why this folder is kept on the clients - but we do not frequently install service packs/hotfix packs due to change control.  We have some clients where we don’t have enough free space to write job results, so anything we can do to reduce the size of the footprint on clients would certainly help in our environment.  Freeing up just 350MB in /opt would actually make backups work for some of our clients which are failing due to low disk space.We don’t have access to most of our clients, so looking for a way to do this without logging into clients.
