HPDP to commvault object restore configuration

Hi All, Greetings for the day!Currently we are using Microfocus data protector backup tool with HPE Storeonce catalyst now we planning to move the clients to commvault. As per my understanding restoring the third party tool we require the stage server with commvault migration components then access the third party tool and select the client then restore into commvault. Please correct me if i am wrong

System Created Jobs execution

Hi guys, We are implementing an Air Gapped DR site, so the DR site only receives an offline copy from the main one through aux copies.For aux copies, we only disabled their schedule from the “System Created Autocopy Schedule” and created a new specific schedule which start the aux copies to the DR site after the blackout window. Since the DR MAs and Library are only accessible during the Air Gap window, I was wondering if rescheduling the remaining system created jobs (DDB Backup, DDB Verification, DDB Space Reclamation, Data Aging) to the Air Gap period doesn’t cause any issue when running at the same time with the Aux Copies (Our Aux Copies use Deduplication). I know that, when running the DDB Backup jobs, this may cause issues with Aux Copies as of the screenshot below : https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/12504_deduplication_database_backup.html So my question is, is it possible to launch all the previously listed system jobs at the same time with Aux Copies without an

Testing integrity of backups prior to restoration to be confident it is free from malware

Hello,In my environment, v11.24.34, i have Ransomware Protection enabled on all of my Media Agents. My Security Team have asked me is it possible to test the integrity of the backups prior to restoration to be confident that it is free from malware.Thanks in advance for your responses.RegardsFergus

I have 7 ComCell servers, prefer to generate worldwide backup success rate report for each ComCell on one table. Only found backup success rate report per storage policy, anyone could help?

Memory Pages Per Second very high at times

We have Microsoft System Center Operations Manager monitoring our Commvault media agents.Periodically they trigger a memory pages per second alert.  The default threshold for the SCOM alert to be triggered is the number must value must exceed 5000 for 12 samples 5 minutes a part.  These go away after awhile so I assume it is some specific activity or job that triggers this.  We get the alerts on pretty much all of our media agents.Our media agents have partitioned global DDB’s on each of them and they process most of our backup jobs.  We four media agents for our primary site and two at our offsite location that we Aux Copy all of our jobs (storage policy copies) to the pair offsite.The basic Microsoft product knowledge states the alert typically occurs if you are swapping to PageFile to frequently and it can indicate that you do not have enough RAM.In our case we have 64 GB of RAM on each media agent and the PageFile is set to system managed but it is currently only 4 GB in size and n

Is it safe to delete the OneTouch folder?

Does anyone know if it’s safe to delete the “OneTouch” folder (or just it’s contents) from a Windows CommVault agent installation? One of our servers is running low on space and I can see that the OneTouch folder is occupying over 4GB. It contains over 1,200 old folders, and every folder contains these three files:DiskShadowOutputSource.txt DiskshadowScript.txt ExportedFirewallConfig.wfwI’ve searched online and couldn’t find any references to the OneTouch folder or the above files, so I’m unsure if these are safe to get rid of. Also, it would be good to know why these folders are generated, and if they’re only temporary, why doesn’t CommVault delete them automatically? Should I create a Scheduled Task to delete these folders on a regular basis?Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

DDB RECONSTRUCTION

Hello, please i have an issue with my DDB reconstruction. Not quite long when i move my DDB to another folder e.g folder1 to folder2 but on same server. 3 days later, my colleague wants to restart the server and force kill the SID process for process manager. and now the server went into DDB recovery. since one week now file system recovery will complete but adding records will fail . now today i found out the revoery process is taken from folder1.reason becuase after DDB move the new path has not done DDB weekly backup.now my question is according to commvault  https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/12582_moving_deduplication_database_to_another_location.htmlnow the file system recovery is pointing to folder1 instead of folder2 what do you suggest.can i move DDB back to his previous folder1 ? and what could happen since it keep doing reconstruction and failing. i log a ticket against support a lady came help still is still failing.what other way can i move this DDB folder ba

SP Farm backup with 7 servers:DR only

SPFarm backup with 7 servers; just continuing the conversation https://community.commvault.com/topic/show?tid=3126&fid=2 as I could not edit it. there is no requirement for granular recovery just DR to a different siteI have already installed SP agent on the App server and chosen the correct SQL ida to protect the content databases.  However, I just want to confirm that we have need to install additional 5SP agents on the 5 servers to just capture the WFE data; would WFE data not get captured if we install SP agent only the client to which pseduo clientThe current setup is: FS IDA on all 7 servers : SP Agent on all 7 servers; SQLIDA on the SQL serverAs per doc: In DR event https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/105771_full_system_recovery_of_sharepoint_server_agent.html-Restore 7 servers using onetouch (FS IDA)Restore SP Farm via the client(app server) (I presume this automatically restores the content databases and apps)Restore the WFE backup back to the same client

Separating the WebServer from the CommServe

Hello, is there a best practice guide if I want to separate a Commvault web server from the CommServe. I want to outsource the web server to its own VM. And another problem I would like to solve is the accessibility after a failover. We have a problem in our production environment that the web/admin console is not available after failover. In the production environment, the web server was disconnected from CommServe from the beginning.   Kind RegardsThomas

Why seal Cloud based DDBs?

Hi All, Came across this thread, and all the replies were very helpful, had another question regarding DDB sealing.Why do we need to seal the DDB when using Cloud library ? And can we defer its execution as far back as possible ?  Kind regards.

AWS S3 Configuration for cloud library

Sealing a DDB - what happens to the old DDB?

Hi Commvault-people. I have a large partitioned DDB which has been writing to a Cloud-based library, and has been for some time. The DDB partitions are roughly 2 TB’s in size. As is recommended when you have been writing to Cloud libraries, it should at some point be sealed, and I would like to go ahead. We are also on the cusp of the maximum threshold for Q&I times. However, I need to make sure I have enough space for my DDB on the current volumes. So the question is, what happens to the old DDB? I am assuming that it will remain at 2 TB’s in size until there is a corresponding reference for the blocks in the new DDB, or the blocks eventually age and are therefore not required. Maybe that will take months. Quite probably. Whilst it ages out old blocks, will the old DDB reduce in size? But what can I expect from the new DDB? If I only have a 3 TB volume, and 2TB is taken up by the old DDB then I really only have 1 TB available. if anyone has recently been through this scenario, it

cannot move media from media group Ovewrite protect Media to other group

I have two tapes that are not in the "Default Scratch" Media Group. I don't know why. and I can't move them.One media in media group "overwrite Protect media" all taks, move, the media cannot be moved as it is not a spare mediaThe second media is in Catalog media and I don’t have the option to move it .these two medias were used like others medias that I use. Two way authentication suddenly enable and cannot send email

Hi,My customer having issue where they claim suddenly they have prob to login to console due to 2 way authentication enable. It cannot send the email to the respective user. Anyway that can be done to disable the 2 way authentication without access to console? Refer attached picture for reference.

WORM copies retention

Hi guys, In order to configure hardware WORM beside commvault’s WORM, we found this note "If you have multiple storage policies/copies created using the cloud storage pool, make sure to set the same number of days as retention in all the copies." under the link below :https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/9251_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_cloud_storage.html Does that mean that all the secondary copies that have to be stored on the WORM storage have to have the same retention ? It got me a little confused. Since in our case, from each Storage Policy we will create a new copy that will be saved to the WORM Storage, do we have to assign the same retention to all the newly created copies ? Thanks in advance

Restore from snap copy

Hi Team,I have a remote site B which i want to restore VM.The Remote Site Host are connected with vCenter at site A.I have deployed one Media Agent at site B.when i select that Media Agent at site B (same host/same site) i cannot browse the Datacenter / Host list.I able to restore use Media Agent at A site.i have to use B site MA in order make the restoration process run faster where the site A MA took 4Hours for restore since cross site. Please advise which setting i have to do to fix the error. Thanks.

Commvault FSA install package with no internet

I downloaded the version 11 Download manager 22.9 MB, I go to install it and commvault install is blocked on my client so I have to get larger install package.I am on version 11.25.32, is there another install package that is smaller than 2gb / 11.25.36 I know before the install packages were 300MB.

Hi all. Does anyone have any rough figures on the time it takes for the script to complete the work, and the media agent become available again?I have 6 Hyperscales in a block, with about 300TB of backup data on the block and am just wondering how long Activity will have to be disabled for.

Quick question. I understand the longest time per backup task is 10 seconds. Is there someway to get around that limitation?If no, that’s ok. I’ll just break out clients into separate schedule policies.
