Hey , I am trying to create a workflow using alerts for failed jobs to trigger backups via workflow feature .though it allows me to pass different values for client names like VIRTUAL MACHINE CLIENT NAME - which I intend to BUT workflow>backup never accepts anything except “Client name” that eventually triggers the backup for whole client computer name including all 20-30 VM`s in that group which is not desired. any leads will be much appreciated.RegardsJimmy

They will be written to the nas share right ? There will be no conflict about existing dr folder SET XXX ?And What about the failback ? thanks
This is for fresh installation that I am logging into command center for the first time. I have re installed the commvault, and also restarted IIS and tomcat services, with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hi Commvault CommnuityWe are doing a POC installing Commcell 11.40.X on Linux. The Linux distribution is RHEL 9.6. After installing Commvault, the installation seems to be successful, but when we run “systemctl status commvault”, we see the following error messages:The first error message appears in “dotnet CVAuditService This log file is not found in the internal list” Looking at the logs, it seems that it’s unable to start MongoDB.CVAuditService.log “Failed to connect to MongoDB client [localhost]]]. Please check CVMongoDBDriver.log for more details.”CVMongoDBDrive.log “One or more errors occurred while processing the request”The second error is “/etc/systemd/system/commvault.Instance001” Unknown key name 'After' in section 'Install'”cat /etc/systemd/system/commvault.Instance001 [Unit]Description=commvault ServiceStartLimitIntervalSec=600StartLimitBurst=60#CVSU_Version=4[Service]EnvironmentFile=-/opt/commvault/Base/Temp/Galaxy.envTasksMax=infinityType=forkingExecStart=/opt/commvault
Hello,How does Commvault support backup and restore of Microsoft Planner? I know there is some data in Sharepoint and Exchange online. Is it enough to backup this and is it possible to directly restore the data back to Planner? Thanks and regards,Thomas
Hello,Does Commvault support vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI) with Netapp datastores?Regards, Thomas
Our customer is testing Axiom and wants to backup via Commvault...the vendor gave them a script to shut down the Axiom server so I’m sure how this is going to work?
I read the documentation on backing up VMware machines with IntelliSnap support and I've also read the considerations on this page here (streaming and intellisnap backups for vSAN datastore) and now I understand the importance of the second snapshot, this one via hardware, for the entire process, but what are the advantages of IntelliSnap backup using just the Virtual Server Agent Snap engine, not a 'hardware' snapshot of the datastore where my VM is hosted? Second question, how (or when) does the Commvault know that it needs to take two snapshots, the first one, a snapshot of the VM’s, and the second, a snapshot of the VMware Datastore? Third question, what do I need to consider when backing up multiple virtual machines from Datastores with tens, perhaps hundreds of virtual machines? Last question, what are the recomendations in cases where there are backups of multiple VM Groups (Subclients), each one with multiple virtual machines. Maybe some kind of re-engineering to put as many vi

Hi,Is there a procedure to migrate the commserve from windows to linux RhelI saw a someone ask this question before but it was quit a while backI couldn’t find any procedure in the documentation Best regards,
Hi Experts,I am new to IntelliSnap. What I got to understand after reading is that with IntelliSnap based VM backup,A snapshot of the VM at vCenter level will be taken as well as a snapshot of the whole VMDK disk at the storage level. Then VM snapshot at vCenter will be deleted. The VMDK luns need to be zoned and assigned to physical media agent. Question: How will this array-based snapshot be assigned to MA? Then the data from the snapshot goes to MA to the storage. Question: It requires separate policy, right? The backup process is LAN-free and over SAN only. Right? Then how does the restore work? Is it also LAN-free and over SAN? Thanks ahead. Kindly help me.Quazi Ashfaq

Dear community,We are currently implementing HPE StoreOnce with two MediaAgents. At the moment, the same StoreOnce device shows up twice in Commvault (one entry per MediaAgent). Jobs are working, but for HA and load balancing, should best practice be to add StoreOnce as a single library/store and associate both MediaAgents, or keep separate StoreOnce entries per MediaAgent?Additionally, ideally we need to separate specific backup workloads (e.g., VM backups handled by MA1, database backups by MA2). What is the recommended configuration for both high availability and dedicated backup flows per MediaAgent?I found also this from from documentation, but I’m not sure if this is my case here. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.42/software/adding_additional_mediaagents_to_existing_hpe_storeonce_library.htmlWould appreciate input from anyone with similar experience. Best regards,Nikos
Hi all,is there any way or feature whith which we can nearly 100% automatically validate our backups of VMs, DBs (MSSQL and/or Oracle) and maybe File Shares? Also the jobs/validations should be documentated within an report or something else.More and more frequently our customers are asking for such a kind of process/feature.In the past we walk through PoCs to handle the request with features such as Virutal Lab or VM Validation. But this kind of "automation" is not what the customers are looking for. Furthermore this way is missing the function of "randomization" of the to be restored objects (VMs).Do you have any experience with that request?
Hello,What are other users of Commvault powershell module opinion of the module.I am disapointed. I was hoping for a well working modle, but it is a struggle. Commands aren’t logical, not following powershell best practices. Help is minimal and examples of commands are missing. No where I can find that it is work in progress. My opinion is that Commvault need to either put an effort in developing the module to a working module or state that it is a “Work in progress -- beta” module.//Henrik
Dear Support Team,I would like to inform you that I am still facing issues with the backup process. I have attempted to resolve it, but unfortunately, I have not been successful.Your immediate assistance is required, as the domain server is currently not backing up. Please look into this issue as soon as possible. Best regards,Perwez Ahmed
I’m in the process of testing a new deployment and looking to enable Post Quantum Cryptography, building it out in my lab to confirm how it all works and following the process in documentation here: Enabling Post-Quantum Cryptography Config is an “all in one” with the CS & webserver on the same server on 11.40.10 media. When I have the two additional settings enabled for the CommServe the Command Centre doesn’t start up. Hello,As the title says I’m trying to automate the installation of dozens of clients using API. For that I need to make sure I can select "Client Group", "CommServe/Gateway hostname" and "Storage Policy". Especially the “CommServe/Gateway” given we’re using proxies and that the client computer won’t directly connect to the Commserve:“Client Group” is also vital because of the way we have things set up. If the client doesn’t fall in the right client group it won’t communicate.I’ve been looking at this documentation but I don’t see mention of these fields there:https://api.commvault.com/docs/SP36/api/cv/FileServerOperations/post-install-client/Can you please help me understand if this is possible? Thank you very much for your help and have a nice day. Best regards,
When is NVMe over FC support going to be released by Commvault?
I need clarification on how Commvault encrypts passwords during the Linux agent installation process. Specifically, I would like to know if there is a way to encrypt a password (similar to what happens during installation) so that we can integrate with CyberArk for password rotation. The goal is to rotate the password in CyberArk, then encrypt it in the same manner Commvault does, and finally update the salt(using to automate agent install) with the encrypted value.I noticed there is an encrypt binary being called and also references to an update_pkginfo file, but I couldn’t find any documentation on how to use them for this purpose. Ideally, I would like to avoid having to manually reinstall the Commvault Linux agent every 6 months or so just to get the updated encrypted password to align with CyberArk and AD.Could you please provide guidance or documentation if this can be achieved?
Has anyone seen this error?SQL database backups happen every 15 minutes, and this error occurs about every 20 jobs. Error summary Error code: [30:325]Description: Error encountered during backup. Hi,I'm facing an issue after deploying the CommServe OVA on a Linux-based system (Rocky Linux) under VMware. After deployment, when I check the services, I get the following error:systemd-coredump[55307]: Process 54709 (dotnet) of user 0 dumped core. The CVWebserverBridge service is shown as N/A in the Commvault services list, and I’m unable to get it to start.I’ve tried replacing the embedded .NET runtime with various versions (e.g., 8.0.14, 8.0.16), but the error persists. This leads me to believe the issue may be with the OVA itself, or the image might be corrupted or misconfigured.I'm currently using Commvault version 11.40.Has anyone encountered a similar issue, or is there an updated OVA or workaround available? Thanks in advance.
Hello, I got email about Vulnerability in the JDBC Driver for SQL Server (Microsoft) does its effect commvault sql agent? https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/en-US/vulnerability/CVE-2025-59250
Hi all,I'm currently reviewing our Commcell’s Infrastructure Load Report and I have noticed the following:For the Linux MediaAgents, physical memory usage is around 15%, while virtual memory usage is approximately 70%. For the Windows MediaAgents and the Commserve (also Windows), both physical and virtual memory usage is similar.I'm wondering if this difference with the Linux MediaAgents indicates an underlying configuration issue or if it is simply the standard way Commvault operates in this environment. Also, at what point should I consider the memory usage to be a critical performance issue? Thanks!
Hi together, currently CV 11.40 does not support the Backup on VMs that are running on kubevirt/Kubernetes. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/protecting_kubernetes_with_commvault.html Are there any plans to support kubevirt? Regards.Michael
