We use RestAPI to get space usage values of our Libraries in Commvault for reporting purposes, especially Total Capacity, Free Space and Used Space.For Disc Libraries this is no problem, but we’re currently doing testing with S3 Storage as Libraries and there we face an issue with that, as these values can’t be extracted.In the Command Center we see the “Size on disk”With QCommands (qlist media -l) we see the  “TOTAL DATA(GB)” And with RestAPI (GET Library Details) we see “N/A”  Quota on the S3 Bucket has been set,

Hello, we need to move a media agent and the backup storage to another rack in April. Our environment is configured so that the backup storage volumes are set up as CSV (Clustered Shared Volumes).So both media agents can access the backup storage of the other site. If we had to move only the media agent, I would say that it is enough to put it into maintenance mode in Commvault. Then we could shut down the media agent and install it in the new rack. However, since the site's backup storage also goes offline, the question would be whether we could still keep the backup service running or if we would have to plan for downtime. I know that backup jobs run on errors with the storage policy for the affected site. I would also redirect these to the second site for the time period. The point of my question is whether Commvault will have a problem when volumes are no longer accessible. Kind RegardsThomas

hi, we recently where discussing a few security concerns for one of our customer.now there is a specific file located on the CS:/webconsole/common/bootstrap/javascripts/bootstrap.min.js Bootstrap 3.3.6this seems to be Deprecated by the provider.and is giving a high priority alert. how ever i do not see this listed in the https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/146231_security_vulnerability_and_reporting.html as far as i see i do not see that this updated on their system (currently 24.34.). could you provide us with an idea of when this will be upgraded through com

HyperV backup is failing to backupk 30 or so VM.   The failed VM shows this error: “Virtual machine has snapshots older than configured expiry threshold hours. The backup encountered errors while removing expired snapshots for the virtual machine. Please try removing them manually and retry backup.”Removing the expired snapshots?  Where?

Hey, I have a question about DFS: In the area CN=System you can find the backed up DFS part which can be restored. However, this does not provide me with any further information about, for example, the DFS paths behind it at the time of the backup or the permissions that were entered. Is there at Commvault the possibility to get more detailed into the backed up AD points to DFS. So that one does not have to make a "half-blind" restore.  

Hello Everyone I’ve found that I can enable IntelliSnap backup for Google GCP VM Intances. What exactly does it mean? I am familiar with IntelliSnap for other solutions (VMware, Hyper-V and so on) and IntelliSnap makes hardware snapshot of vol/LUN when backuped data lives. I wasn’t able to find any related information how process of IntelliSnap backup within GCP VM environment works. What is the sequence, where snapshots are maintained, what is the difference between regular streaming GCP VSA VM backups and IntelliSnap ones. IBOL states “enable checkbox to run IntelliSnap”, but I am technical guy, I would like to know what does it mean ;) Any theoretical knowledge & experience? Kindest regards,M.

I am settings new copy to tapethe tape has 24 slots I copy the last monthly full to tape. Retention is 1 yearI copy the last full off the year. Retention is 10 Years. The customer want that when each time the data are copied to the tape, he must be alerted and manually take off the tape offsite How do you deal with that ? Thanks !

A customer of ours intends to move their Azure workload to Metallic in the near future.Because we don't manage the azure side of things for the customer, I assumed that the Azure blob storage was a combined tier based on what was configured in Commvault (screenshot below). The cloud libraries are configured in Commvault to use a Combined Tier of storage where we write metadata to Hot and chunk data to Archive tier. Based on that I’d suggested that a rehydration of data is needed from Archive tier to hot tier to perform an Auxcopy to Metallic or lodge a ticket with Microsoft to have the entire contents of the blob converted to Hot tier so that it can be read by the AuxCopy process.  

It’s finally been a year (our retention period) for the old file server, which was running on a windows failover cluster, i.e. they needed to have the mediaagent component installed in order for them to work. Now when I try to retire the client “WinFSCluster”, it is showing me the following error - “Failed to delete Client. Snapshots are still mounted.”Nothing comes up in a web search for this error message, so I hope you can assist me, commvault forum folks!

I am sending a  get call from POSTMAN Client to get the backup job summery report for last 24 hrs. it retiring a error with Status: 400 bad request.Followed the below procedure to get the REST API linkLogged in into webconsole→ Report → backup summery report → removed some unwanted fields → click on REST API & copy the link. On Postman client generate the token, create a new HTTP request -pest the link, & pest the token → hit send  I am getting 400 bad request  I can able execute all Commvault REST API - Public -SP24 Commands.

Hi all,Our activate infrastructure consists of a single server with the following roles installed: Web Server Content Analyzer Index Store When I run the first discovery job (online crawl), it completes successfully.If I run the job again (full or incremental) or change the source path, the job fails with the following error:“Could not initialize class com.commvault.solr.handler.extraction.CVStellentParser”  I tried to create a new inventory and  a new project. Again the first job works and the next one ends with errors.As source I tried a network share (share CIFS storage NetApp) a folder on FS iDataAgent client and a local folder of the index server.   

Hi, I have few question about deduplication. I will be very appreciate for help:how to backup servers with enabled deduplication - some special tips how to recover files from volumes with deduplication enabled is the option of data backup on such servers with the use of an installed agent recommended / not recommended, how does it affect the backup speed, why Commvault is not able to recover data from disks after deduplication, maybe something else needs to be configured?Thanks for help!
