Media Agent - installation directory drive is getting full due to Temp folder C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\TempThere are several files start with CVRF* . why this folder is filled up? Can we delete all these files?
Maybe How are mutliple acces nodes used in NAS CIFS share backups? Load-balancing or failover or both? Is it possble to configure this? I did not find this in CV documentation. Thanks at all.
What’s the proper way to inform Dev of a REST API call I’d like them to implement? Are CMRs the way to go, or is there a different channel? The reason I hope for a different channel is that my former TAM assured me Dev wants to know what REST API calls we want/need since they’re trying to wean us from calling SQL database tables directly, so I hope they’re showing their support for with with a specific way of asking. (If you’re wondering: I want ways to list subclients that, for example, are of a specific agent type. For that matter, I want a REST API call to show me the agent types in use in a CommCell. Both of these are in support of being to allow users to ask about backups of agent types they support.)
We have a file server cluster with four nodes. Each node has a certain number of resources (drives) which can also move from one node to another. The second node had to be taken out of the cluster a few weeks ago and is now operational again. If resources move to this node, they can no longer be backed up, because the Commvault plugin does not recognize this. It only works again when I select the resource in Commvault and then perform a manual synchronization. Has anyone ever had this problem ? I also have a few screenshots attached to visualize the problem a bit.RegardsThomas
Hello There is a task of backing up application servers and system databases for SAS (https://www.sas.com/en_us/home.html). Does the Commvault have recommendations or special backup clients for SAS (https://www.sas.com/en_us/home.html).? Regards Aleksandr
Hello. Is it possible to have aux copies configured between different CommCell entities?Same company but different business units in different buildings requiring offsite backup copies but is trying to make use of the infrastructure of the other already existing in their environment. This is probably possible when installing a second instance on the existing MA but will require separate disk libraries entities at that site.Thanks.Iggy
Hello, during regular DR-Tests we see problems with the jobresults directory usage for larger DBs (1 TB+):Error Code: [30:375]Description: Encountered error while writing to the file. Error code [28]. Please make sure there is enough disk space on [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_JobResults\2\0\4455051\RstStage].Source: Clientname, Process: SQLiDACV stages the whole database there, so we must add an additional 3-5 TB disk for that in the DR-Site on each larger machine. We have also bigger SQL machines which does not consume that much of space in the Job Results Directoy, even when the Jobresultsdirectory size is smaller than the size of DB we are restoring.Does anybody know why this is different between SQL-Systems?
Is this possible or any better ideas?Problem: Remote office with a small VMware setup where CV agents on clients not permitted. If agents could be installed it would be a simple case of client-side deduplication so they could be backed up remotely. To get deduplication happening would it possible to use a VM-proxy at the remote site send backup data to the data center? The idea would be:Remote ESX → Remote Proxy …..can’t be deduped because no agent to do itRemote Proxy → data center media agent ….deduped on the proxyRestore will be obviously fully hydrated...they are prepared to live with.
Hey,This is not the first time this happens to me and every time it is an issue since it fills up the disk and it wont release the space until (at least) I either reboot the media agent or add a advsetting key (CLEANUP_TEMP_DB_DAYS = 0). In this case, particular case, i have done both and still wont release the space.Long story short, any time I request a browse from a job that is available on disk but is fairly old, the media agent kicks off a Index Restore, since those indexes are not on media agent anymore. The index kicks in, and thats when the operation starts to fill up the disk. (always with NDMP (V2) that are massive). So, I then, I cancel my browse request, but it is too late now, the background tasks will continue to a point where it fill up the disk. When I look at the three size, I can see the client GUID which just gives us a little bit more info as to which client / confirm the client that cause the problem. So I currently have a media agent that its all of space for a Brow
I try to do SQL DB point-in-time restore, may I restore SQL DB as new database name? looks like I have to do SQL DB point-in-time restore to original location.
According to the documentation, “If you are using an earlier version of the operating system, you can optimize the usage of these resources by setting the kernel parameter values” but, the documentation does not make it clear which versions to consider.Does it apply to a Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core) (3.10.0-1160.42.2.el7.x86_64)?And what about number_of_desired_streams?SEMMSL = 12 * number_of_desired_streamsHow to calculate the number of desired streams? Is it the sum of the values for Desired Streams from all the Associated Storage Policies?
Hello, I have HS 1300 ( HS 1.5) appliance deployed couple of years ago which came up with the RHEL 7.4.unfortunately the folks who involved during deployment has left the organization and no where the infromation maintained except the login credentials do we have any documentation link or steps to be followed to gather the information like below ports details bonds details ( which ports been part of bond)and disk details , etc
Hi , im getting error when trying to create an exchange online client , stopping at creating the azure app. It used to work on earlier versions , i’m now at Version: 11.20.64from log :looks like an error in the powershell scriptIs it an known issue with this version ?
Morning,Before I raise a ticket with support just wondered if anyone has seen the event below and could advise if its anything to be concerned about?“Encountered an invalid backup level in the backup stats record.”ThanksTom
Hi All, Qscript in the link here started to fail randomly since yesterday for me..in both of our commcells..Could not understand why I have this issue, for fun sake I tried to copy paste from CV’s documentation, from -help section of qcommand - maybe after 5 months of succesfull everyday use somehow script decided for himself to mistype the command...lol - laughing through tears here when example in -help section in itself is faulty :) Same goes for API call, response code is ‘200’ - but in the response is one of CV generic resp codes, which is ‘2’. def get_commvault_clients(self): """This method returns all servers with backups in past 24 hours from DK1 and DK2 commcells""" job_history = [] for api in self.api_url: jobs_request = api["url"] + "ExecuteQCommand" jobs_response = requests.post( jobs_request, headers=api["headers"], timeout=3600, data="command=qoperation execscript -s
What’s the easiest way to confirm a Cool/Archive cloud library is working? I have migrated data from a Hot storage blob container. I provisioned an additional storage container as Hot in Azure and provisioned it as Cool/Archive as recommended by Commvault. I attempted a restore of a file from this Archive library and the restore just completed as normal without the use of a workflow so I’m worried the data isn’t in the Archive tier as expected. Any ideas how to confirm the data is actually in Archive and Metadata is in Cool? And why was the restore just standard?
Hi Guys, I have a question. Is any way to filter RDM disks that are added to VM that is a part of oVirt environment? The Customer is getting the following error during backup job: I cannot see any Disk Filter option in Subclient Properties. BOL doesn’t say anyting about diks filters, too. https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=31946.htm Is any way to exclude RDM disk, so the Customer may be sure that the backup of VM is fine? Anyway, I can see that backup status is Completed with on or more errors. Does it mean that the VM was completely backed up and only RDM disks were ignored / skipped? Rgds,Kamil
Hi all!I would like to discuss following situation. We are unable to change retention under Storage Policy Properites → Storage Policy Copy of Primary. After changing the value and clicking OK we see no real changes performed. Is it possible that this setting is somewhere blocked or overwritten by another settings?
Hello,I am running CommVault V11SP20.55.I want to deploy FREL servers with Ansible but I do not found the keyword to change the root password during installation, this the playbook which I use:If anyone can help my will be great, or do have anyone the initial password which is in the OVA configured?thanks in advanceregards Jürgen
Hi team, Any one of you see the below error during VSA backup and have any fix to resolve it.Error Code: [91:113]Description: Unable to read the disk [[xxx-xxx-vsan] 14a57660-80d1-fa35-41cc-246e96388498/abn-xxx.xxxx_4.vmdk] for virtual machine [xxx-xxx] on Host [yyyyy]. I have servers (VMs and servers with agents) that are being decommissioned. The request from my boss is to do a full backup and keep it after the server is deleted. The VMs are in a subclient and I am worried that their backups will be deleted if the VM is removed from the subclient. Similarly, I am concerned the backups will be lost if a SQL agent is removed. I am looking for some documents or advice that can guide me through this process of removing a server from the backup schedule while retaining the past backups. Then comes the question “How would you restore a backup of a decommissioned server?”Any help for this newbie is appreciated.
Hello, EveryoneHow are you, today?I have a problem i am trying to resolve. I don't know if anyone can be of help. So, this customer has a tape library with 3 drives but 5 slots. They had 3 existing 3 drives which is running fine. They just added 2 more drives to be configured. I have been trying to detect and configure the drives but i can see them (it says undetected, unconfigured). It says SCSI adapter has been removed, Please go to property page to select the right scsi. Can you help, please? Eventually i detected and configured one of the drives, but can’t detect the last one. During the detect an configure scan, the 5th drive shows but in the data path and library, it does not show.
We have a legacy setup wherein a share is both archived and backed up utilizing different sudo-clients. There is a sudo-client to take intellisnap backup; and then there is another sudo client which runs archive job on the same location. I am a bit confused by this setup. What is archiving actually doing? My understanding was it would create a stub and move the data from primary storage to the MediaAgent saving some space on the primary storage and the backups would be smaller. Also when we restore the backups would it restore the stub or actual data? Also what happens during the restore/recall of archive; does stub gets replaced by the files and would that mean that the if there is another client running backup on the same share; it will capture all data rather than stub; Setup: Netapp Share: NetApp 9.84 Cluster-ModeSudo client ZCluster1: Snapshot backup runs (Intellinsnap); backup copy goes to the MA (has DDB/IndexCache). Location it protects“/svm-hsc-cifs/SharedDrives” Anothe
We think that there is no real benefit for the Commvault to deduplicate Transaction Log data. Maybe some compression benefit, but today we deduplicate practically everything. I started another topic (Difference between Incremental Storage Policy and Log Storage policy) to ask about the differences between Log Storage Policy and Incremental Storage Policy. The idea is to have a specific Storage Policy for Database Agents Transactional Logs with deduplication disabled. By examining some backups jobs, we noticed that Savings Percentage comes entirely from Compression. Due to its nature, It seems that there is no gain when deduplicating variable data like Transactional Logs. By disabling deduplication for those data, in theory, we can keep DDB smaller and reduce Q&I times. Am I right?
Hi,One of our customer is using Dynatrace as monitoring tool and he asked if Commvault can be monitored by Dynatrace. I did not find anything in the Commvault documentation. Thanks for feedback. Regards
