Hey everyoneI’ve just moved to a new environment which already had Commvault configured in it.Im trying to make sure all the backups and policies are correct and mainly to understand the product better.I have both Commvault and VCenter in my environment. My VCenter was already configured to interact with the Commvault console.My question is about the both ways i’ve seend a VM being backed up.First way is when I go to Commvault» client computers» <machine> » Virtual Server Firstand second way is when I got to the configured VCenter in Commvault » <vcenter> » Virtual Machine » VMware » defaultBackupSet » content 

Good afternoon allI have DB2 backing up successfully and successfully executed the rollforward recovery within Commvault.the DBA would like to be able to run this from the command line and we used: db2 recover db <database_name> to 2001-12-31-04.00.00 The issue we have is that due to the way we have been routed, we need to specify a media agent for the recovery operation (easy in the GUI), but I can’t see a way to do this in the command line.I’ve saved the XML script that would allow this, but the DBA would prefer to just run a command.Is there anyway I can specify which Media Agent must always be used in this operation?I hope that makes sense?Thanks,Mauro

Hi, I need some advice here… My previous backup administrator disabled the below 2 System Created DDB Space Reclamation and Verification schedule policies, (I presume) due to lack of space on our disk.   Now, with the disk space being OK again, I’m wondering if it’s necessary/beneficial for us to re-activate those 2 policies ? BTW, we are about to move all the backup jobs to a new Commvault Server in the coming months, so is it still worth the effort of re-enabling those 2 policies on this old Commvault Server ? Kelvin

Hi Commvault-people, We are about to configure Mount-path protection against ransomware.When I was reading up, I noticed this url:- https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=7879_1.htm Which states that “ Commvault software automatically detects the presence of Ransomware on your client computers using the honeypot file method. Hi, I’m trying to add 3 nodes to an existing Hyperscale X cluster ?It’s a brand new installation, the cluster is up and running in with the first 3 nodes.Now I’m trying to add 3 more nodes, do I need to create a block with “cvavahi.py...” on those 3 new nodes as well and after that I will have the options in the Command Center to add them all under the one already there  or ?Thank you, it’s the first time I’m adding nodes to and existing HyperScale X cluster and I don't find any documentation on this !

Hello community , We are trying to migrate SAN storage to S3 cloud library .Per suggestions followed these steps . 1.    configured new global dedupe storage policy using your new S3 bucket and MA2.    configured new secondary copies in your existing storage policies pointing to your new S3 dedupe storage3.    ran aux-copyWe have huge data and contacted commvault support to determine the timelines to know when the aux copy will get complete . Currently aux-copy is running for more than 4 months.Support has mentioned below points .-Your current configuration is allowing the selection and prioritization of new backups over older data-You are also configured to copy all data to cloud and mentioned we are not using dedupe for aux copy. How to make sure have optimal Aux copy configurations 

Hi Pros!I’m very new to commvault and have setup an Exchange DB backup with Intellisnap that has been running for a month or so. When we did the initial setup we verified that we could restore single mailboxes by creating a recovery point like described in this guide: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=55059.htmNow it doesn’t work. We try to browse and restore the mailboxes by selecting one DB and clicking “Recover Messages”, then selecting the MA and clicking “ok” and after that “list revovery points… after clicking “refresh” nothing shows up… only the text: “There are no items to show in this view” When checking the job “Create recover point” it also says: Error code 72:106 Mount operation failed, Source: Mediaserver, Process: LiveBrowseServerAnyone know why this happen?/C

We’re just starting to migrate to Exchange Online and have the backups (archiving) of mailboxes configured in Commvault.  From reading other posts on here, I understand that we’ll end up keeping a large number of the archive jobs as if 1 email is still valid in the job then it will be retained.What I’m trying to work out is what would happen if one or more of the archive jobs are deleted.Would the next archive job to run know that the emails were no longer in the archive and pick them up? Or because they have already existed in the archive index they will be skipped?The only way I can think to test is to delete a job and see what happens, but would prefer not to risk it if someone knows the answer for sure!Thanks

Hello everyone,All my backups are set to replicate from my primary site to my DR site and all copies have the same retention.  Weirdly, the Disk Library Growth report shows the media agent at my primary site has 178TB worth of data but my DR site is only 132TB so I’m wondering where the 46TB difference comes from.Question:  Is there a way to compare the contents of two media agents to see where discrepancies are coming from?ThanksKen

Hi, I’ve an old sealed DDB with no more jobs associated to it, it only shows some number of unique blocks left ( for a size of 1,18TB ) , secondary blocks is 0 ,  application size is already at 0. How can I then do what you proposed to do: “then remove ALL of the blocks for that store in one big macro prune.”?Cause I’d like to get totally rid of that sealed DDB ?

Hello,I am using a SQL on RHEL 8.2, have installed Commvault Filesystem and SQL agent 11.24 on it. [sqladmin@SQL82~]$ cat /etc/redhat-releaseRed Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.2 (Ootpa)[sqladmin@SQL82 ~]$ Have used sqladmin which has necessary sysadmin rights and added these under properties of SQL client however still unable to discover any DBs in the subclient. Any clue ?

Hi Commvault-people, Our DBA’s are looking to implement SQL2019 across the board, and that will include our Commvault implementations. Although I can see it is supported, I can’t see from which Service Pack.We are currently on SP16. Does anyone know where I can find this information? Thanks

Hi,Our customer has MongoDB systems. Versions;Commvault version: 11.20.64MongoDB version: 4.4.4OS version: ubuntu 20.04I added MongoDB pseudo clients successfully. I took FULL backup manually from subclient. I created schedules for FULL and LOG backups.Oplog ScheduleIf I take full backup from subclient manually and run log backup from schedule, i took error like;Error Code: [7:247] Description: Failed to backup MongoDB oplog dumps. Submit FULL SNAP backup immediately to resync the oplog dumpsI try to take full backup from schedule and i took error on archive index phase;Please check the log files for this job for more details.I checked logs and i saw this error in MA’s archiveIndex

Hi all,I would like to ask you about utilization of tape drives in the tape library. In our situation, however there are 4 tape drivers in the master pool, the Commvault is choosing only 2 of them. The rest of them is idle. Is there any way to force using the tape drive with the given storage policy? Can be helpful to associate the tape drive with only one media agent, that can only use that tape drive? Is the number of streams a variable in this case? Thanks for any suggestions!

We have a major project that will be started.For various reasons some of our compute and applications will move to Azure Gov cloud.At the present we have two commcells serving the enterprise on prem.One of them contains backups for clients that need to move.There are Local libraries for primary and Azure Libraris (Commercial cloud) for secondary copies.Preferably being able to retain backups is desiered, at least the backups that exists in Azue.I know that clients can be migrated to a new comcell but the backup data isn't migrated.Anyone gone through something like this? If so how did you tackle the task.We have just started to plan out this change and is just throwing ideas around. BRHenke

Hello, For some reason i don’t know yet, my vcenter’s intellisnap backup failed since several days. Snap job passed, but backup copy never passed. Now i have a problem with snaps size and dates, my storage team ask me what to do. I would like to fully cancel this job but when trying to kill backup copy it still relaunch immediately, and want to clear the snaps history related to this job (vcenter, even if it does not seem to be problematic here, but storage too). In other words, how can i really cancel an intellisnap composed job to clear all, please? Thanks in advance. Regards.

Hi All,I had some issues with VM replication terminating with error. After marking for full sync the replication finished successfully.Now the problem is that every following replication replicates the same amount of data as the full replication did. Because full replication takes 7 days to complete I would like to avoid deleting the target VM and configuring the replication from scratch.What could be the reason for replicating such huge amount of data?
