We’ve added another vcenter client to our commcell and it’s full backup copies are running very slow - 20-30GB/HR.Infrastructure is 10GigE on AFF300 SAN with SSD disks.When I run a backup history I only see the snap jobs, and I’d iike to compare both vcenters backup jobs for throughput - - how can I see more than just snap jobs? 

Hey everyone, I’ve got a bit of a puzzler.  We have several years of data on prem, and in a 3rd party S3 bucket.  We’re looking to reduce the footprint of this on prem and 3rd party S3 bucket somewhat, and are moving the data to AWS and Azure combined storage tier libraries as it’s long term data that we need to keep per SLA, but do not expect to recover from unless a project is resurrected or a legal search request comes in, and as such, we can lower some costs by storing it on the lower cost AWS and Azure offerings.The test Aux copies worked quite well - I can see that both my AWS and Azure libraries have the same number of jobs, and the same total data, but if I am asked by an auditor to show that during this work, for client X, that data was on prem, at the 3rd party S3 site, and at AWS and Azure, before I clear it from on prem and the 3rd party S3, I have no idea how to get a report showing that there are 4 copies of the data.  Alternately, an Auditor could

HI, i was looking at the commserve hardware requirements. You can have a combination of servers, virtual machines, and laptops in a single CommCell environment. The total workload must equal the maximum number of servers, per CommCell environment type (Extra Large, Large, Medium, or Small). The workload equivalent for each entity is as follows:Server: 1 Virtual Machine: 0.5 Laptops: 0.2now i fully understand the above calculation of the environment size.however, what if a Commcell has let say 500 deconfigured clients.would these need to be calculated? if so, are they full “servers” or do they count for less then this.as technically they are not active but still in the Commserves DB. thanks in advance, kind Regards, Thos Gieskes.

we are helping a customer restore data from their old commserve envrioment; we had a VM level backup for the commserve; we restored it the services are working; however the credentials supplied by the customer is not working.  Is there a way around it?' commvault sevrices appear to be working okay (looked at the Simpana services console; everything is showing as running)Also, is there a log file that I can check what’s going on.  SQL is installed on the same VM.  Also, becuase this was a old commvault system and required to be stood up to look for historical data; can we raise it with support team

Hi,I have 2 Eternus CS200 S1, one in main site and 1 in DR. Previously both are standalone appliance with license each. During the implementation, the requirements changed and the DR appliance was installed in cold standby mode. Licenses for both appliance were merged together into one license with support for dual IP’s for DR purposes. Now there’s a new requirement to separate the 2 CS 200 as stand alone appliance again. Questions are:Is there a way to get the license back for the DR appliance? What are the procedures to split the sites? links for reinstalling the commvault software in the DR appliance links for configuring the DR appliance in Restore ModeRegards,    

We are doing some testing with EC2 running Windows and SQL.  I enabled App Aware backups and the first issue we have come across is the VSAAppAwareBackupWorkflow is picking up the EC2 instance internal machine name instead of the Domain name.  Is this how it is supposed to work?  The Commserve cannot resolve the internal machine name  - ip-10-49-2-225.us-east-2.compute.internal.  The domain name is Test-CV-SQL-Backup-01.  Any help is appreciated!

Hello, I'm currently testing the Hyperscale X 2.1 Reference Architecture deployment and i would like to know if it's possible to configure at 1GB, my network interfaces on Data Protection Network, because when I configure, he tells me " Encouterd error Interface should have at least 10GB" , but when I tested Hyperscale 1.5 Reference Architecture deployment, I was able to configure my interfaces to 1GB for the Data Protection Network without any problem.  So, I would like to confirm if it's possible to use my 1GB interfaces instead of 10GB with Hyperscale X 2.1 for the DPN. Please note that the other interfaces for the SPN and Replication will be on a 10GB link.

I have two long running VSA jobs, hypervisor is VMware ESXi v7u1. Both subclient jobs contain several VMs and each one has a lingering VM, meaning it’s been running for days and not showing any progress. I can kill those specific VM jobs but will the subclient show completed with errors or show as failed if I do? I’m not sure what the expected behavior is so I thought I’d reach out to the community to see if anyone else has had the same problem and do what I’m ready to try.

Hi there,I would like to disscus how to get rid of too much storage policies. So, if I want to join two storage policies into one, I will just move the sublient to the second storage policy? And the old storage policy can be marked as hidden? Is there no other pitfall?

Hi all,some days ago we have temporarily disabled deduplication only under storage policy copy (Storage policy tab). Now, we want to allow deduplication again, however if we uncheck the option (temporarily disable deduplication) we see the message - Deduplication cannot be enabled on dependent copy when disabled on Storage Pool. And this is very strange. Under Storage Pool there have been no changes made, moreover, there is no option to uncheck temporarily disable deduplication (Storage Pool tab). Maybe, only one thing can be in play, the DDB is in Maintenance state because of verification in progress.  Storage Pool window - no option to switch disabled deduplication 

Scenario. We´re creating an Aux Copy for all existing backup jobs from a particular storage policy, during the process we faced the following error message:Error Code: 13:187Description: Some backup jobs are skipped because they are aged on destination copy or marked do not copy.Source: commserve, Process JobManager. The Aux Copy was  configured to take all existing jobs from the primery and only was able to run and move 10% of the total data on the primary copy and skiiped the rest, any idea how move the skipped jobs?? Regards. Ramon. 

Hi,We are in CV deployement and Initially we build a single MA with 4 partitioned DDB in the Azure cloud. When data is growing, we moved the two partition into new Media Agent and its running in two MA with two DDB disk each.Now, both MA reached its bottleneck planning to scalling up further, but management allowed me to add one MA alone.So, I have one possiblity of running the backup with four-partitioned DDB splited with three MAs as shown below.MA 1 - Single DDB Disk MA 2 - Single  DDB Disk MA3 - Two DDB DiskI am bit worry about to do that, as I am thinking it make some instablity between MAs. But, I couldn’t find relevent CV documents.  Can you suggest whether the above design make any sense or not? and will it make any issue in the future? Thanks,Mani

I have a shared tape library, used by the “old” and the “new” commvault environment. The “new” is Hyperscale. I want the “new” to use only tapes with a barcodes prefoxed with ‘NP’ and the “old” to use everything else but not ‘NP’. Hopefully, that makes sense! Question: How is this achievable? cheers

Came across this setting and was wondering when this should be used? What is a possible usecase to tweak this setting?  Configure Disk Volume SizeDisk volumes are created based on the volume size. When the size of the volume reaches the maximum size, then a new volume is created. The maximum size of a disk volume is set to 25 GB by default, and this value can be modified. On the ribbon in the CommCell Console, click the Storage tab, and then click Media Management. Click the Resource Manager Configuration tab. Hi,in our case there is a lot of running jobs accros multiple storage policies. Once the jobs reach more than 90% of completion, the throughput of the job falls and the speed of the job is very slow. However,some of the jobs, that have less than 50% in progress status, are running faster.Is there any option to prioritize jobs, that are almost finished (with more then 95% of progress)?I know there is possible to change priority of the single job, however, from my experiance it didnt increase speed too much. Maybe I should have used the highest priority, that I exactly dont know.

We have a Linux client with File System Agent installed. The defaultBackupSet have 5 Subclients. All of them disabled for a long time. One of those Subclients have 60 Incremental Backup Jobs without a base Full Backup. There is no Full Backup. I double-checked the backup history (Backup Type: All / Job Status: All / Time Range unchecked / All operations).Do they have any use?Would it be possible to restore some data from those jobs even without a Full backup?

 I have some question about mounting storage snapshot on Vmare. Atm we are using 2 Windows MediaAgent to mount storage snapshot to make Intellisnap for Windows Servers and we are using 2 Linux MediaAgents for Linux servers. We are going replace 2 MediaAgents with 2 new Linux MediaAgents. What are the possibilities for mounting storage snaps for Windows servers to make Intellisnaps backup copy? Can we mount it on VM server? Does anyone have same situation? Commserver VR 11.24.3vSphere Client version 7.0.2.00200 

I have 3 physical sql servers, 1 standalone and the other 2 are clustered, but none are showing up anymore in the list of clients? My commcell and index media agents are though? I’ve checked client filters, but no luck.

Hi guys,I’m struggeling with encryption in a mixed environment.On the GlobalDedupePolicyCopy, I did not activate encryption.on the Client Advanced Property I enable encryptionon the subClient Property I enable encryption on Network & Media.executed Jobs are listed as ecryption enabled.does this mean, that the backups have been encrypted ? are the backups deduplicated against unencrypted backups within the same StoragePolicy ? (which might result in a mix of encrypted and unencrypted data for the same job) Since encryption is defined in the GDP and I already have two DDB partitions per MediaAgent, do I have to deploy additional MediaAgents to host the dedicated encryption backups, in case I want to enable that on the Storage Policy ?best regardsKlaus

Hi  Team, In one of my customer environment, for two of Media Agents the Commvault services(Base & Media Manager) are frequently going offline.I can see Commserve & MA are in same SP with 22.25 Please let me know what could be the reason for this.
