Hi all, Had a question regarding the current IAM policies being provided by Commvault for AWS policies that are all documented here. My question is in relation to this policy. More pointed, I’m interested to understand if anyone has taken the time to configure these policies in a “least privilege access” approach utilizing something like condition based tags. I understand that Commvault provides this policy. But as you can see, the bottom half of that policy is still far more wide open than what would meet a “least privilege access” approach. For instance I’d like to understand what SSM is being used for and how we could approach restricting these specific permissions to only the resources we need to give it access to: "ssm:CancelCommand""ssm:SendCommand""ssm:ListCommands""ssm:ListDocuments""ssm:DescribeDocument""ssm:DescribeInstanceInformation" Open to thoughts, suggestions! Thanks,

Hello,I need to create a backup job with all full backups to tape in a physical library(new library) that the customer has purchased.Today all backups are on disk (File Library).After the new Jobs to tape has been succesfully executed (3 backup jobs to tape will be done), i need to erase the full backup, which today is very old and needs to be done a new full backup, because the size will be smaller and will free up more space in disk.Wait guys for the best practices to do this.Another question: i will create the Storage Police for the library with permanente retention and include all tapes in the same SP or create other for example: Database, Exchange, etc.@Mike Struening 

Hi all, I have a CS on SP11.latest and I am trying to restore emails from 2011.I can browse these emails but when I try restore to .pst the destination client is blank.The Proxy server we’ve always used is also on SP11.latest, but I suppose I am missing a package or something.Anyone have a trick to get these emails restored?P.S. Recalls also do not work, I guess it’s related.

Hi, Today I tried to to restore a Folder directly to a VM but only 5 of 6 Items were restored (if I restored the same folder directly to the MA all was fine). Storage policy creation wizard asks for storage pool creation and global DDB creation. How to bypass this? I don't want to create a global DDB. Commvault is at V11.23.

Hi, I have had a user who has many older emails with stubbed attachments that have had them removed and replaced with the one file, “Archived Attachment List.txt" .  This file is a list of the files that ere archived.It appears to be emails prior to April 2021, and more recent archived email has stubs as they should be and are able to be recalled.I cannot find any mention of this behaviour in documentation.I do not know how widespread this problem might be.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Cheers

Hi,Hope you can help me.When doing app aware backups, the software installs an agent on the VM, correct?What happens when I want to granular restore the app data?From what I’ve read (not so sure), Commvault mounts the VM filesystem on the MediaAgent and one is able to look for granular app data and then copy what is wanted to the VM. Does copying the app data to the VM need an agent to be installed (on the VM or anywhere)?Thanks!

Hi all,is there any way how to display overall throughtput withing the Commvault Commcell? In the Job Controller I can see a list of running jobs and I want to know the sum of all items in the current throughput column. Is it feasible to manage this task? Can help any tool with it?I have tried to run cmd q commands and count the throughput within the script, however, the start date of the backup job is not the real one? Then, I am not able to calculate the current throughput. In general, how can I calculate current throughput if it is not possible to directly display it? Example: in script there is an output for Job Id 35478 - jobEndTime 1629021648, however in CV console for the same job it shows 13:08:43   Thanks for any ideas.

The offline reason seems to be very strange: [Cannot communicate with Media Mount Manager Service.Please ensure that.a. The MediaAgent is reachable from CommServe.b. All MediaAgent services are running.] A - Checked that MA is reachableB - Checked that all services are running What can help us to make drives online? Also verified in Windows device manager that drives are present and visible.

Hello everyone,At my DR site I use HP MSA disk devices for CommVault backup storage and they are currently over 86% full.  I have asked my manager to add the cost of another MSA to the budget and she’s asking for growth rates to ensure that one MSA will be sufficient.  I’m searching for that information and am not able to find it even though (I would have thought) that this is a pretty basic information.  I did find the “Disk Library Growth Trend” report but don’t trust its numbers as the used space and free space increase at the same time despite the fact that the total storage has remained constant.  I’m not sure where it’s getting its information but, well, it just doesn’t make sense.  Screen capture below.So my question is:  How can I find a storage growth rate to use for media agent capacity planning?Ken

Hello,Added a Kubernetes Cluster. The pods are discovered fine however during the backup I see the following on vsbkp.log and job goes into waiting state.Error mounting snap volumes. Possible reason includes there is no FC or iscsi connectivity found with esx server. Please check whether nIscsiEnable registry key is set if you are using Iscsi method for mounting.Not much in documentation for K8s  Any Ideas ?

So recently we migrated our ESXi VMware VMs to a new vCenter and since then the VSA jobs have been failing to complete on and off and I have a single Unix appliance that is being used as a proxy so I don’t need it to manage the jobs but it is. How can I disable it from grabbing those jobs and I assume the VM snapshots will be managed by the media agents? Thanks.

Hi,I have an issue where my user have application that the license tied to MAC address of the vm. When I do restore the vm (overwrite existing), the vm restored having different MAC address than original. Is this supposed to happen? Is there any ways that I can preserved the original MAC address when restore the whole vm?This is using vsa Nutanix vm backup.regards,Fauzi

I have several cloud libraries, where the storage and DDB are controlled by an on-premises MA. I would like to switch several of them to a different on-premises MA.  But cannot seem to find anything here on it the docs on how to switch MAs for an existing cloud library.

Where are these alert settings adjusted in the Web-GUI Command Console and Java-GUI CommCell? (URL or screenshot) Can you provide a link to the books online documentation describing alert thresholds? I have similar concerns. The anomaly thresholds seem to be calculated in a dynamic, ever-changing way and so therefore are always triggering the alert. Notice in the example above, the alert is being set even though the backup is only 26 minutes longer. Hardly qualifies as an alert! I mean, come on! We have backups that vary in size and copy duration due to incremental changed data caused by the end user. The amount of data just is variable. The alert “Delay Reason” is blank. That’s a sign right there that this is not an error.Can I engage some logic to suppress this specific type of alert if the delay reason is blank and the running time is no longer than 100% more than the statistical average for this job over the last 3 months?
