Hi, I initiated Change index server job for one client(which has big indexDB). The job was running for a long time with no update.I want to suspend and resume. I attempted suspend. Post that the job shows suspend pending. Right click does not show kill option.I tried force suspend but no luck. I tried to use qoperation to kill.It gives the error message the job is in suspend pending and cannot be killed. Please advise how I can kill this job forcefully without recycle of CV services on Commserve.

Hi Community,our customer use IntelliSnap Backup for the Sybase Databases. Now the customer has told me that the full backups are not logged in the DBA Cockpit.Only the Log backups. I assume this is because a classic streaming backup is performed for the log backup.Is the following backup copy required here so that the full backup is also entered in the DBA Cockpit?https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/sybase_intellisnap_backup_copy_operation_overview.html#dump-based-backup-copyThe IntelliSnap backup cannot be stored in the DBA Cockpit because it is not a classic dump, right? Thanks and best regards,Andreas 

Hi Guys, i have Quatum scalar i3 tape library, which is connected to the MA via 8 GB FC link. The library has one LTO 8 drive and also the Active Vault licence. what i want ? every friday synthetic backup to tape - i have dedicated 20 LTO8 media in Online, Partition, after backup the media will be exported to the offline partiton in the library.  every day bigdata index and DR to the another for example 2-4 media, these media will be online in library and not exported after backup to offline partition, because DR and indexes use only about 20 Gb per day and LTO8 has 11 TB = wasting of tapes. How to configure it ? any advices ? 

Hi Experts , I have been  task to migrate data from 7 years retention Tapes to our new store once catalyst stores library.The original tape library is already no hardware support and broken and it is also in a different CommCell. after merging the CommCell clients. I am able to see the Tapes storage policy copy ( the primary copy is on a disk storage which is also not recoverable any more.) I am thinking to use aux copy but from  console it seem I can only copy the tape to another tape using the new tape library on loaner for migration purpose by HP. Is there a way to use the loaner tape library read the tapes and direct copy to the Store once catalyst stores?

Hi team,Trying to undesatnd, how commvault uploads the job metadata. Came across an error “Unable to upload job metadata to the remote file cache” and the client is trying to connect to the failover commvault server. Is the metadata upload location configured automatically or we have an option to point to any specific commvault server? Thanks in advance !

Hello,before 11.34 I was able to add a storage Storage Disk On backup location I select the Media agent and the radio button Network I put the credentials of the network share and I put the CIFS path It seems that it it not possible on new versions after 11.3211.32 > OK11.34 or 11.36 > KOeven if a select network share, it is waiting for a local path :( Any Idea ?Thanks 

Hello,We use Commvault 11.34 (we plan to update to 11.36 in 2 months)  I want to use the data masking feature of CommvaultI have 2 pgsql VMs hosted on VMware environment.The DBA ask me if it is possible to restore the VMs on a test environment and apply a data Making policy to anonymize the restored data.I have checked the Commvault Documents about this featureDoes someone have a experience feedback about this feature ?Thanks ! 

Is there a way to control which nodes Commvault uses as a SQL backup master in a SQL AG backup?We are doing a migration of our SQL AG servers to another Commcell but the approach is per site. So they are  moving the primary replica first. What I would like to know is if there is a reg key/ additional settings to enable to force Commvault to assign the SQL Backup Master on the primary replica.  From what I know Commvault chooses the SQL Backup master at random. Any useful suggestion is appreciated.

Hello all!Last time we do have had a some problems with MongoDB instance, services etc…So one thing comes to my mind - what does MongoDB is actually used for in Commvault enviroment?We do have 2 comserve nodes, can someone provide me any documentation or a quick overwiew what it is actually used for? And if it is needed for all the time regardless what type of backups are running?

Hi Communitydoes anyone have a custom report they are willing to share that shows only synthetic_full backups that have failed in the last week?More specifically i am looking for a report that outputs just a list of servers with failed synthetic jobs over that last week. nothing else.with the standard reports it shows all sorts of information, like generated on date, or report criteria, and all sorts of details that makes it very difficult (not to say impossible) to convert into a ticket.

Hi!I've seen here in the communities a few thread regarding Commvault's ability to fully protect AD/domain controllers.Has this been addressed in the later releases (11.28+)? I mean, what is the correct strategy? AD iDA + system state with the FS iDA?Is this sufficient for a full DC recovery and also for granular recoveries of AD objects?Regards,Pedro

Did a vmwarebackup (vCloud director 10.5) yesterday on a new server that has windows server 2019 and sql server 2019. During the backup (app consistent snapshot), commvault did not report anything wrong with the backup job what so ever.But in the OS, all disks except c drive was lost, they where still visible in vmware but not in the os and rescan in disk management did not work.Event logs was not very informative either other then “unexpected error” messages from sql.System writers reported no errors on all expect “system writer” that reported [5] waiting for completion and SqlServerWriter reported [8] inconsistend shadow copy.And still after i killed the job and the snapshot was removed, there were no disks showing up but after a reboot they were back.The vm it self is up to date on hw version and vmware tools, windows updates is also fairly up to date. I have been around long enough to know that it is i that needs to figure out whats wrong since from the vmware admin perspective thi

Hello,I have a DDB Reconstruct running of a secondary copy that writes on Storage S3, the DDB backup writes on both S3 and CentricStor, i want to restore the DDB from the CentricStor library but it always try to restore from the S3. How can i force the restore from 1 specific library?This DDB is partitioned and only 1 partition is offline. Thanks,João Amaral

Hi Commvault Team, my customer is interested in Commvault SW. Does Commvault supports parallel volume snapping of IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) with Windows OS? The matrix say yes but the documentation says only flash no svc as you can see enclosed. Can you please clarify? Regards Thomas  

I’m having issues doing a restore of an encrypted Azure VMWe can backup the Azure VMs encrypted and non encrypted. We can restore non encrypted VMs. But not with encrypted VMs.I have a support ticket but so far I’m not happy with the support I’m getting.I was told to create a new Azure KV which we did but still having the issueI was told to add the key vault entry in the Commvault → Control Panel → Key Management Servers… still not working and also is this necessary? I'm actually trying to modify the Backup Summary Report, which has this same issue.  In my example, it’s a fresh, new report with one dataset.  I’d simply like to add an Input (like the ones on the Backup Summary Report), but “Add” does nothing at all. Note that I CAN add datasets - clicking add displays the appropriate wizard on screen.The documentation doesn’t state any prerequisites: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/input_controls_for_build_your_own_reports.html What could I be missing? Thank you~ 

Hello Commvault Community, I have a strange case where a connection loss occurred in the environment during an AG SQL backup, the Commvault system resumed the backup job for another attempt, but didn’t reset the Size of Application counter from the first attempt, which increased this parameter by x1.5 times, causing the Front-end license to be exceeded. To clarify the situation, AG SQL in the case of Full Backup actually has 6.9 TB Size of Application - that's 22 databases. For example, a correctly performed backup tonight (from 21.01 to 22.01) for JobID [...]140, correctly recognized 6.9 TB Size of Application.   Last night (from 20.01 to 21.01) Full Backup was also performed and the network connection was interrupted (this isn’t the most important thing at the moment), then Commvault independently resumed the backup job in the second attempt, which ended correctly, but unfortunately the Size of Application from the first interrupted attempt was added to the second one, which was comp

Hi, I have a few sql backups with a SQL AG client, I need to run a post script for them where I put down a file so our monitoring tool can check if the file is there, sow the backup was ok.But when I go to the properties of the subclient, the ‘pre/post process’ tab is greyed out.Why is this and can this be enabled.

Do I understand correctly that when WORM storage lock is enabled, I cannot delete backups in any way through Commvault, even if the period Object Lock retention period has expired on AWS S3?2. What happens with backup if the AWS S3 Object Lock retention period is set to 1 day, the Commvault retention period is set to 2 days, and the backup date was 3 days ago?3. Does Data Aging of Jobs work when WORM storage lock is enabled?4. Does Commvault check if AWS S3 Object Lock is really enable or I can just activate WORM storage lock on storage without object lock?
