Hi team,I would like to confirm a specific point regarding Commvault Deduplication.Is it supported to store the Deduplication Database on a NAS , considering that the NAS itself is not a MediaAgent?I want to confirm whether the DDB can reside on NAS storage or if it must be located on MediaAgent-local storage.Thank you. 

Hi. If I vmotion a VM that is currently in cluster A, to a new greenfield vcenter let’s call it cluster B, I assume that the UUID will remain the same but will Commvault see that VM as the same and backup history will follow? 

Hello I have the following:               RHEL client: RHEL 9Windows Commserve: Windows Server 2019No firewall exist between the two machinesWhen I check the box that says Restore Via CV Tools to install the Linux agent onto the client, I get this error:“Description: Failed to install File System Core Package, could not determine processor/OS type of client”I do have a case open with support but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution. I have not found a solution on the forum. 

We recently had a scare when Commvault upgraded us to a new feature that we “Thought” our Media Agent couldn’t handle.  Thankfully we were wrong but we want to disable auto updates.  The ticket I had open they said to do the below.  I can not find this option at all.  When I do searches it talks about disabling it in the schedules but I am not seeing the updates in the commcell schedule either.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.Steps:Open the CommCell Console. Navigate to: Control Panel > Additional Settings. Add a new setting: Name:DisableAutomaticPushInstall Category/Path:CommServDB.GxGlobalParam Type: Integer Value:1

Just noticed following coming change:On April 2 2026, Microsoft will fully retire Azure ACS for all tenants. Because of this change, you must reconfigure SharePoint Online to use certificate-based authentication. We recommend upgrading to Commvault Cloud 11.40 or a more recent release. All Commvault Cloud customers must reconfigure their SharePoint Online authentication method by April 2, 2026 or SharePoint Online backups will begin to break.

Hi All. I have build a new setup with MediaAgents and a CommServe installed with RedHat Linux. Is it possible to disable the root account like you are in a HyperScaleX setup where you need to enable the root access from within the CommandCenter. I really like this feature, so I would like to get et on my normal MediaAgents as well. I see that is possible via the CommServe bare metal setup and you can download a workflow described in the below link:https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/software/enabling_or_disabling_root_access_for_commserve_bare_metal.html Install and deploy the HyperScale OS Node Root Access workflow from the Commvault Store. But I’m unsure if it will work on my MediaAgents and my CommServe. Regards-Anders

Hi guys, is there a possibility to get the subclientId of a client when searching for a specific content.E.g.:I have 3 subclients, 1 for drive c, 1 for drive d and 1 for drive e.Now I want to get the SubclientId for the path “c:\example”.Is there any possibility to get this? Hi All. I just checked the traffic to and from our CommServe in our firewall. I do see thousands of denies every hour from the CommServe to IP’s belonging to amazon (3.174.18.10, 3.174.18.80, 3.174.18.70…..) We do not use any Amazon services in anyway, so any one have an idea why the CommServe tries to connect to Amazon and how to disable what its doing? Thanks-Anders

Hi, I’m trying to do a BMR on a windows server, but 1-touch can only find the network card in slot1. the connections on slot1 is on a management network that can’t reach the commvault server. We have nic in slot6 (Broadcom BCM5741x) that reach the commcell. I have added the drivers for this card, but slot6 doesn’t shows up when I boot 1-touch.Anyone that have a clue on what to do here?BR, Tony

Hey Community,A couple of days ago, I received an email with this anomaly notification “Garbage Collection Delay in DDB Stores.” What does this issue indicate, and what should I be checking when this appears?When I click the link to see the more details about this notification, it opens a DDB Pruning Performance Anomaly Report, but it doesn’t seem to provide any useful information. Hello everyone,I’m currently storing backups on a HyperScale 1.5 cluster that was purchased back in 2018. I’ve just taken delivery of three HPE servers to act as a HyperScale X cluster to replace my aging HyperScale 1.5 media agent. Does anyone know of a detailed list of steps / project plan / checklist that can be used for such an undertaking?I see the high level steps as:Rack the servers Install the HyperScale OS Connect the new cluster to Commvault Update backups to use the new storage Migrate backups from the old HS 1.5 to the new HS X storage Disconnect the empty HS 1.5 media agent from Commvault Power off the HS 1.5 servers, remove them from the rack, and dispose of them.The reason I’m looking for detailed steps is that I’m sure there are items I’m not aware of that need consideration. I’m working with a customer to test Proxmox backups and am a bit confused.  When I go to the Proxmox config page I don’t have an access node which is expected since we haven’t set it up yet.  When I click on the link to download it, I get an VSA_x64.exe, which is a Windows executable.  From documentation I understand we have to install it on at least one of the cluster nodes which are a flavor of linux.  Is the idea to download the CV linux binaries using the VSA_x64 executable?  If so, what would be the proper package(s)? Also, it is a little confusing with the documentation as I’m reading it; do we need VSA installed on all the nodes in the cluster or just a single node to act as the access node?Thanks in advance!

Hi,I have few questions about compliance lock and the retention of last full backup.How does the retention of the last full backup work in a storage with a compliance lock? Is the retention for the last full backup updated when a new full backup is added at the end of the month? I know that compliance lock can't lower the retention.For example, if a full backup occurred on the 15th day of the month considered as the last full backup of month and the retention is set to 1 year, but on the 30th day of the month a new full backup occurred and it is the real last full backup of the month, does the first full backup will update the retention date even if it is in a storage with compliance lock.Is it recommended to select "Last full backup" for a extended retention job with compliance lock? Do you recommended to use instead "First full backup" with compliance lock? What is the best practice?

HelloIs the default policy enabled when creating the Exchange plan sufficient for clearing out older messages or mailboxes? Our default retention period is set to one year. However, when I check the Office 365 storage policy and the retention reason, I see "Data Aging Disabled" listed.
