Hello all,A customer running Commvault 11.28.117, would like to build a dashboard that contains reports with filtered views (many SharePoint farms and SQL servers backup job summary). The issue is that already existing reports that we would like to integrate in this dashboard, are all different views of default “ Backup Job summary “ report, each of them is filtered to display only specific SharePoint farms or SQL servers via predefined “ Client Computer Groups “.In the dashboard, filters are not retained, that means that each time I reopen the dashboard, all reports display backups jobs for all clients … That, whatever if I use web console or admin console to edit the report.I even tried to edit the dashboard with ReportPlus (or report builder) and save it as a view, it does not change anything... Thanks in advance for your help.R

Hi,I have a question, where the answer just might be trial and error and worst case scenario is performance loss. But other teams experienced a crash of there ESX systems after modifying this setting. So, I thought let me first check here. From a legal obligation to take measures to save energy (in a data center) we are obliged to set servers to so-called balanced mode where possible. We have a hyperscale environment, 3 Dell PowerEdge R740xd servers. If we enable the setting; Power Factor Correction (PFC) here on all 3 servers, could that possibly cause problems, this also in combination with CommVault? Regards,Danny
Hello, all our Oracle Command Line Backups are listed as Full Jobs in Commvault. The Size of the Jobs suggest they really are inrementall.I’ve compared the rman script from the oracle admin with the generated one and both have the “backup INCREMENTAL LEVEL=1” line. Furthermore the generated RMAN also has a “##send …… -t 1” Line for Communication to commvault i think. Do the Oracle Admin needs to add this to his script to let commvault know which jobtype the job is?Thanks and RegardsJacob
HI,I encountered the following error as shown in the screenshot when performing drive cleaning. May I ask how I can solve this problem? Thank you.
Do we know where in object path is a job UUID?If whether we have any control over what UUID is used or is it completely random?
Hi, In my environment We configured a synthetic full backup schedule on weekdays but past one week we observed that synthetic backups are running very slow and it’s getting single digit oh through put. For this If we planed a more Media servers is it increase performance. currently we are the backups with 2 media serves.Note: We are not using commvault level dedup, Using storage level dedup
I have a CIFS SVM which will have around 50 file shares.Right now I’m leaning towards each file share being a separate volume in ONTAP but that may not matter for this question.I could have a single subclient that does \\svm\c$ and tries to grab everything I could have a single subclient that has a list of \\svm\a_specific_share_1 and \\svm\a_specific_share_2 and so on I could have 50 subclients where each one does \\svm\a_specific_shareIs there a suggested best practise or just a least headaches way of doing this please? Some other option I haven’t considered? With multiple UNC paths in a single subclient I’m not sure when adding/removing/editing the list of UNC paths triggers a full backup of everything because it thinks the subclient content has changed.Whilst it’s a bit more management overhead I’m leaning towards option 3 because it seems to offer the most granularity and if I need to do a proper full backup of a specific share or there’s a problem I’m hopefully reducing the chances
Hello everyone,I’m currently testing VM replication from Azure to Azure (CS SW 11.32)I’d like to know if leaving “Auto” in the Virtual Network setting in the Recovery Target, preserve the same network of the source vms to the replicated vms in case of planned/unplanned failover. Thanks and regards
Does anyone know if there is a way to have the option of doing the CommServe DR Backup to another VM.This is a Linux CommServe. We are currently doing it to the local path and to the Metallic Cloud. Is there a way to add a 3rd option or to change the local path to another VM? Thanks
Hi, We have around 500 clients that backup a specific directory with a short retention. We now need a longer retention for a specific folder (10 years). As we can’t have different retentions for different folders in a plan, we need to create a second subclient on every existing clients and associate it with a long retention plan.I’m trying to figure out if there is a simple way to mass create those subclients at a client group level or if I need to script it with qcreate or Rest Api commands.

Hi. New to CV. I was under the impression that VM that have been retired would be deleted after their retention period.
I would like to ask what would be the most efficient configuration in terms of performance and cost on the azure platform. My current configuration is as follows:Monthly fulls are part of the primary copy with retention for more than 500 days. The copy is connected under a storage account with a hot access tier, as the copy also contains the primary backup configuration - 14 days 2 cycles.According to a report from Commserve, only jobs with extended retention take up around 200 TB in total, across Azure subscriptions. I am currently using Azure reserved space which allows me to reduce storage costs, for smaller subscriptions I use classic pay as you go pricing method.I started to wonder if it would be more cost effective to set up monthly full backups (those with extended retention) on a storage account with a cold access tier. However, I am concerned about how this will affect deduplication and what about data verification where there are a lot of read operations, which in contrast are
we migrated our file server around 30 tb which was backed up using windows server file system agent to netapp FS , what will be the recommended way to protect the netapp FS , if i add the storage array and taking backup does it increase the storage utilization ? will the dedup work which was taken using with file server agent , or ndmp without storage array added will be better
can we use hyperscale x node as access node from hyper-v backups.I dont see it in list of access nodes
What is the easiest way to copy data from a LTO 4 tape to a LTO 8Both libs are availablePlease be so kind and provide a step by step manual
Hi guys, I was testing alerting yesterday & I dropped an eicar test file on one of my test servers that I current backup using ver 11.32 I got no alerts emailed to me but I did get the alerts in the event viewer69:59 Possible threat found on client [xyztestfs] [count - 3]. Check Unusual File Activity report for more detail. I checked my setup and I can see the alert below, if I click test an email gets sent to me.I also have alerts setup to mail me on the following Alert Criteria: (Event Code equals to 7:211 OR 7:212 OR 7:293 OR 7:269 OR 14:336 OR 14:337 OR 69:59 OR 7:333 OR 69:52) but still never got a mail.I do alerts from the above criteria from other servers I backup. Any help here would be grateful.
What is the recommended way to configure Commvault logs in Splunk & does it have any performance issue and required ports to integrate the splunk.
I was curious if keeping logging of access to the commvault console and file access for security would result in any performance degradation or at what point would this data be trimmed ? if kept indefinitely.
Hi, I’ve done a few transitions from a HDS branded Commserve (HDPS) to a default Commvault setup. That was usually done by installing a new Commserve with the Commvault downloaded installation package and then recover the CSDB. This also updated all paths to default. Does anyone know if there is a way to just re-brand to default Commvault settings in an easy way. Or is re-installing still the best way to do this? I know that this will not reset paths but in this case it may be acceptable. /Patrik
We are restoring the Physical server to Azure using Virtualize me option. During the restoration we are getting below error message. Could someone please help me to fix the issue. Error Code: [91:115] Description: Unable to attach disks to virtual machine
Hi Team,We have a hyper V host and the servers under this hyper V host is failing to take backup due to the below error.Error: Description: Failed to remove the backup snapshot for virtual machine, the snapshot may need to be manually removed.
Hello,I'm planing to upgrade our 11.28 system and realized, starting with Commvault Platform Release 2024E (11.36), Indexing V1 for the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) will be end of life and not supported anymore. I need to upgrade currently used VSA V1, to V2.I can create new virtualization client and clone subclients manually or I can use the migration workflow. It's maybe clear.I have found in a topic, the backup history at the VM level will have both V1 and V2 jobs. The subclient level backup history will be separated. The V1 jobs are available for restore until they age.And here comes the question. Currently I have selective copies of VM backups for long term. It means, some job copies retained for 1-5 years. These copies will be available via V1 subclients. Will it work? Will these V1 indexed backups restorable after the end of life of V1 indexing? 2024E Release and newers in the future will support V1 indexed VM restores? Thanks in advance.
