Hi All,Is it possible to configure a VMware Access Node (deployed using the Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) template supplied by Commvault) as a Kubernetes Access Node?Is it possible to use it alternatively as a VMware Access Node and as a Kubernetes Access Node?I note that OVA “Access Node and MediaAgent 2024E” provides Oracle Linux Server release 9.4: 5.15.0-208.159.3.el9uek.x86_64. And that system requirements for Kubernetes Access Node require Oracle Linux 8.6, but I imagine this is a minimum value required…Thanks in advance for any explanation!Regards,Luc
I am doing a hardware refresh of my Commvault Environment and would like to setup Both Commserver & Media Agents on Redhat Linux. Is this supported and can i migrate from Windows Commserver to Linux? Can only see online that Commserver only supports Redhat 8.10 and Not Redhat 9 and does the fileystem partitioning also matter?
Is there a command you can run to check the status of all Hedvig Nodes in a cluster? In gluster it was “gluster peer status”Thanks
We have an Active Directory Forest with 6 sub-domains. What are the best practices for backing up this configuration?Backup of AD objects only is not suitable. Backup is needed in case of complete loss of the entire AD server.Would it be better to back up the entire virtual machine with AD or is it better to back up individual elements.
hi,i am trying to delete a storage policy copy. When I delete it starts a workflow but I don’t get emails and the job keeps failing.I was trying adding approvers on the workflow but can’t seem to get it working. below are the errors, any help would be great. Hi,Please anyone can help me to resolve this problem, i’m sure all of my mounts paths are online and i can’t find which mount path is offline as it not mentioned from the job itself
Hello, I’ve logged a case at Commvault support but.. they’re reviewing logs.. (🙄)https://support.commvault.com/Case/Details/241010-316 (for those that would have access to the case to spot the details of the issue). On a linux physical MA, with of course dedicated NVME disk properly setup with the lvm to have enough spare space to perform lvm ‘snapshots’ of the DDB volume, one of my MAs got a stuck DDB backup job during the night. The ddbbackup job has been killed (😏) and even restarted later (🤐) and as it was not working again server was rebooted, before another ddbbackup attempt was initiated. Of course, it failed. Then, I was called and looked at the problem, and (my gosh, sorry for that) CHECKED THE LOGS of the job… Right away I spotted that the ddbbackup was stuck upon querying ‘vgdisplay -v’ to get the list of volumegroups where the ddb volume is most likely configured. No need to get into details for this. So, something’s wrong with the VG/lvol. Then I issued the ‘lsblk’ command
Hi,In My env we created two different libraires recently we changed a storage policy for few clients and i didn’t run any manual backup after changing the storage policy. i leave as it as schedule. my concern is Do i need to run manual full backup/ How SF will copy the previous Full?Note: We are using Same Index cache but Libraires are different.
Hi all, In our case, it seems that the export location is nearly full. However, the jobs in both the disk and tape library associated with the DR backup appear to be of regular size. What’s strange is that the DR backup is committed every 3 hours. My questions are:Is it possible to change the default retention period (90 days) for the export location? Where can I check and modify the schedule for the DR backup? Is it possible to delete DR backup jobs from the export location when there is insufficient space? Your help will be much appreciated!
Hello Commvault Community,We have development commcell to test VMware and Nutanix Backup. We managed to add both to the Commcell environment, but somehow it always failed to fetch information about VM list in the VM group sections. And it only happened in the Command Center, we manage to browse fine in the Console. Is there any fix or log we can check for this issue.Note:CS, MA, Commandcenter is in single machine.Screenshot attached.
As a part of the architecting media library for GCP cloud to ensure redundancy, availability across regions, low latency, and cost optimization have selected GCP cloud storage multi region nearline buckets.Considerations:In GCP there are 4 types of storage class and differentiated in terms of cost of storage, location, retrieval, and operations, you can choose best as per your requirement for retention data. For high availability of storage, GCP provides multi-regional buckets in which objects are geo-redundant stored redundantly in at least two separate geographic places separated by at least 100 miles. As multiregional storage is geo redundant no need to setup secondary copy for high availability purpose this will also save the storage cost. This also enables you to share same storage to media agents in another region to restore data from same buckets if required.Configuring GCS bucket:In order to secure data, we have restricted public access and configured permissions which restrict
Hi FellowsAfter reboot, installation continue but failed, because the language cannot find find the source DVD ???If I start the installation (from program files\CommVault\installer… the only option I’ve got is “Download packages to install on a different computer”I’ve tried to install CommCell on this computer (Win2019).I’ve tried also to install IIS before...same Any suggestion ?ThanksJasmin
My customers CV server has some hardware issues and OEM suggested to format the complete server. Now, There are only few NAS boxes whose old data they want to preserv and rest they can take backup from scratch and all those NAS boxes have a common Storage PolicyNow what is best way to achieve this?Assign LUN to Server Create new Storage Pool with a new DDB ? ( can we assign exisitign DDB to new pool?) Setup Secondary for this storage policy to new Storage Pool When AUX job is completed , take DR copy and deattach LUN. format server Rstore DR then how to brigngf back data from secondary copy..i am confused from herePlease suggest any other alternate method if possible , NAS has huge data in TBs hence we do not want to start full backup.
Hi there, we’ve taken over an environment we did not install, and the client’s Hyper-V servers all appear to have the media agent role installed, and appear under the list of media agents, with disk libraries having mount points prepended with “IP” in front of the drive path. I’ve never seen this before - and we don’t use Hyper-V in our other environments. My guess is that they deployed the media agent in error. Can someone running Hyper-V perhaps confirm for me please? Thanks, Ray
Hi,I have a questions about use of ephemeral ports.What are the ports entered in: /etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/Instance001 ? Because these don't seem to be the ports updated after scope changes in linux OS.for example:[root@client14] # more /etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/Instance001/Runtime/.properties.cv.fillerCACHED_AppManager_network_access_v4 57915CACHED_JobManager_v4 57930CACHED_MediaManager_v4 57900JobControlCVD_v4 51355SAVED_JobControlCVD_v4 51355SAVED_RecallService_v4 41347SAVED_SysMonEventSink_v4 55189argv0_0 /opt/commvault/Base/cvlaunchdargv1_0 /opt/commvault/Base/cvdargv2_0 /opt/commvault/Base/cvfwdargv3_0 /opt/commvault/Base/ClMgrSnCVDCCCPort 46791nVALID 1name0 cvlaunchdname1 cvdname2 cvfwdname3 ClMgrSpath0 /opt/commvault/Base/cvlaunchdpath1 /opt/commvault/Base/cvdpath2 /opt/commvault/Base/cvfwdpath3 /opt/commvault/Base/ClMgrSsid0 1sid1 2sid2 3sid3 4Do the ports entered in ...Runtime/.properties become established only when installing the agent?Do the ports entered in ...Ru
Hello all,A customer running Commvault 11.28.117, would like to build a dashboard that contains reports with filtered views (many SharePoint farms and SQL servers backup job summary). The issue is that already existing reports that we would like to integrate in this dashboard, are all different views of default “ Backup Job summary “ report, each of them is filtered to display only specific SharePoint farms or SQL servers via predefined “ Client Computer Groups “.In the dashboard, filters are not retained, that means that each time I reopen the dashboard, all reports display backups jobs for all clients … That, whatever if I use web console or admin console to edit the report.I even tried to edit the dashboard with ReportPlus (or report builder) and save it as a view, it does not change anything... Thanks in advance for your help.R

Hi,I have a question, where the answer just might be trial and error and worst case scenario is performance loss. But other teams experienced a crash of there ESX systems after modifying this setting. So, I thought let me first check here. From a legal obligation to take measures to save energy (in a data center) we are obliged to set servers to so-called balanced mode where possible. We have a hyperscale environment, 3 Dell PowerEdge R740xd servers. If we enable the setting; Power Factor Correction (PFC) here on all 3 servers, could that possibly cause problems, this also in combination with CommVault? Regards,Danny
Hello, all our Oracle Command Line Backups are listed as Full Jobs in Commvault. The Size of the Jobs suggest they really are inrementall.I’ve compared the rman script from the oracle admin with the generated one and both have the “backup INCREMENTAL LEVEL=1” line. Furthermore the generated RMAN also has a “##send …… -t 1” Line for Communication to commvault i think. Do the Oracle Admin needs to add this to his script to let commvault know which jobtype the job is?Thanks and RegardsJacob
HI,I encountered the following error as shown in the screenshot when performing drive cleaning. May I ask how I can solve this problem? Thank you.
Do we know where in object path is a job UUID?If whether we have any control over what UUID is used or is it completely random?
Hi, In my environment We configured a synthetic full backup schedule on weekdays but past one week we observed that synthetic backups are running very slow and it’s getting single digit oh through put. For this If we planed a more Media servers is it increase performance. currently we are the backups with 2 media serves.Note: We are not using commvault level dedup, Using storage level dedup
I have a CIFS SVM which will have around 50 file shares.Right now I’m leaning towards each file share being a separate volume in ONTAP but that may not matter for this question.I could have a single subclient that does \\svm\c$ and tries to grab everything I could have a single subclient that has a list of \\svm\a_specific_share_1 and \\svm\a_specific_share_2 and so on I could have 50 subclients where each one does \\svm\a_specific_shareIs there a suggested best practise or just a least headaches way of doing this please? Some other option I haven’t considered? With multiple UNC paths in a single subclient I’m not sure when adding/removing/editing the list of UNC paths triggers a full backup of everything because it thinks the subclient content has changed.Whilst it’s a bit more management overhead I’m leaning towards option 3 because it seems to offer the most granularity and if I need to do a proper full backup of a specific share or there’s a problem I’m hopefully reducing the chances
Hello everyone,I’m currently testing VM replication from Azure to Azure (CS SW 11.32)I’d like to know if leaving “Auto” in the Virtual Network setting in the Recovery Target, preserve the same network of the source vms to the replicated vms in case of planned/unplanned failover. Thanks and regards
Does anyone know if there is a way to have the option of doing the CommServe DR Backup to another VM.This is a Linux CommServe. We are currently doing it to the local path and to the Metallic Cloud. Is there a way to add a 3rd option or to change the local path to another VM? Thanks
