If I understand correctly with a license of 20TB AirGap customer can send to Azure up to 20TB of local data. With AirGap the space occupied in Azure will be 2x or more (40+TB). There is no extra cost for the customer for this 2x+ capacity, it is included in the Commvault license they have correct?Thanks a lotPanos

Hi Does any one know how to create a a SAP HANA Pseudo-Client in the Commvault Command center?  I am using Commvault 11.34.36, and there it is not possible to use the Commvault Console even the manual are saying, that I shall use it. https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/creating_sap_hana_pseudo_client.html

Experts, when sometimes the customer rely on a customized third party orchestration platforms like SIEM and SOAR platforms that specialize in security incident response.not the standard SOAR platforms we integrated with.  Is there any guide for showing how our platform integrates with the customized SOAR or SIEM tools and provides the similar incident response and orchestration abilities? thanks in advance. 

Hello,I would like to get a list of all failed jobs in the last 24 hours.I was able to get all the job ids from the last 24 hours but to find the failed ones I need to retrieve the data of each job and it is not efficient and might take a long time. Is it possible to do it more efficiently?

  I have been tasked with backing up our OS drive on our on premises Metallic Gateway. We need to include the servers Window’s System State as part of the backups. I have looked in our File Server list in metallic, and I do not see the gateway listed. I know the server has the File System agent already installed on it from when Metallic was originally installed. Is It considered a best practice to back up the gateway’s OS drive. I should note the the gateway is also a cache server for local backups, and we do not want to backup the deduped data volumes. If backing up the OS drive of the Metallic Gateway is not recommended,  what is the general process for rebuilding the OS drive on that server?  

I created a subclient in my file server and backed up a file (C:\test\test.txt). I then attempted to use API to download the backed up file but the server always returned 404. I have been asked several times, ‘why is the file system on my Linux VM client filling up with logs attributable to Commvault?’ and I am mystified because the VM has never had an agent installed.Has anyone got any suggestions a) why there are log files b) how I can limit them to n days, when the retention is only 31 days anyway?Thanks

Hi,Just want check which one is easy to upgrade / new on Commserve with new MA and dedup hardware.Currently we have Commvault version 11.20 with FC based disk library and using Commvault deduplication with compression. Now planning to hardware refresh with new media agent and dedup appliance.Which option is good  to proceed for this implementation.Option 1:Will go to upgrade latest commserve and then will go to new dedup appliance storage pool with new storage policies then will associate to sub clients to new policies.The new storage policies are disabling dedup and compression from commvault and will be enabled from hardware appliance end.And will move backup data from old disk library to new disk library.Option 2:Shall we go for new Commserve server and will install new commcell and then will restore to latest commserve DB.If we are going to new commserve, Is it will get license from commvault. Please advise.

if we have warn site auto recovery group and performed a failover , and then fail back , does this delete the created VM in the destination site 

media agent unresponsive during NDMP job start and later job failed with media agent not availble error. Diskliberary is also attached to this media server with internal drives. Our media agent is unresponsive on putty/ping whenever NDMP job schedule runs. and due to this we got media libready offline/online messages and later Jobs failed.After job failed/suspension , media server behave normally and runs other backup job smoothly like exchange/vcenter etc.  This NDMP job was running fine since many months daily but issue started from last two weeks. 

Hi Community, I took over a Commvault Simpana system and recognized, that tapes wont age.The reason is, that on affected tapes full, differencial and aswell daily, monthly and yearly backups are freely mixed.At the end I have for instance tapes, which have 99% of aged daily backups, and one 30mb in size backup which is aged earliest in 3 years. So this prevents the system from reuse the nearly free tape. By now I identify these tapes and copy the content on a new media, to get the data consolidated and the old tapes free.I would like to have tape pools for daily, monthly and yearly backups, and maybe aswell for full and differencial backups.Whats the best practice here? From what I see here is, that the consultant the company had on site 10 years ago was going the easy way. GreetingsUlrich

Hello,I am curious to know, if I manually erase a tape using Quick Erase, are there any tools that can recover the data? I know Media Explorer cannot.Context - I am contracting with a customer who has not erased tapes and there are years worth. Of the latest LTO8’s we have decided to recycle those that are expired. I am trying to help with a decision as to use Quick Erase or Full Erase in advance of recycling them.The documentation describing these options has the following under Full Erase:  “You want to delete sensitive data”.Does this mean that sensitive data, or any data, can be recovered by any means using Quick Erase?System in use is self hosted v11.32.59 across 15 sites each with a media agent and tape library.Thank you in advance for your help.RegardsGerry  

Hi! I need help with the CLI command for CommVault status in Windows.I need to know which commserve the installation is pointing to.

When configuring Webhooks in SaaS console, you can set “Authentication” to “Secret HMAC”, which results in x-cv-signature-256 header being added to the payload with the digest of the message in it.I would like to be able to validate the message by calculating the same digest at the receiving end and comparing to the value in the header. Trouble is, I cannot work out how Commvault generates the digest. For example, working with another API, the digest is calculated based on the HTTP method + current epoch + body + API endpoint. I need to do this in Powershell but any guidance or code examples in other languages would be appreciated. 

In our enterprise environment, we have a primary media agent we store the backups of all of our servers. Some of these are then copied out to Azure for cloud storage, all are eventually copied to tape, and then we have a completely separate media agent running a different OS than all of our other machines where we keep an aux copy of only the most recent synthetic full of all of our servers. Used to work great, and now is not. Pretty sure I know why, and I am curious if there is a better way to do what I am doing.Previously, we had the retention set to 1 day, 1 cycle which worked fine. We did the aux copy every evening after the main backups completed. After the aux copy there would be two sets of data for the last two days on the media agent until noon the next day when the aging job would run and the earlier day would be purged from the system. Hi, came across on a issue with a cloud library. I had the need to reconfigure the cloud library and remove it and add it again with the same name. the issue is that from the DR backup option it shows two: from command line I can also tell that there are two   from the Storage Menu, I can see only oneis it secure to delete the one that ends with _1724845300? is there any way to tell the creation timestamp of both ? version is 11.34.36 regards

We have 2 Commcell IDs and planning to migrate the data from old Commcell ID to New Commcell ID, tried to export the data from old Commserve but it’s prompting for the authorization code & share me the best practise for Commcell migration.And it will helpful to migrate the tape data also?

Does it required specific ports for SMTP & NTP configuration in commserve?For VMware do we required 902 & 443 ports bi-directional from MA & proxy to ESxi & VCenter servers?Required port details for SQL & FS from Commvault & Media agent?
