Our customer is testing Axiom and wants to backup via Commvault...the vendor gave them a script to shut down the Axiom server so I’m sure how this is going to work?
I read the documentation on backing up VMware machines with IntelliSnap support and I've also read the considerations on this page here (streaming and intellisnap backups for vSAN datastore) and now I understand the importance of the second snapshot, this one via hardware, for the entire process, but what are the advantages of IntelliSnap backup using just the Virtual Server Agent Snap engine, not a 'hardware' snapshot of the datastore where my VM is hosted? Second question, how (or when) does the Commvault know that it needs to take two snapshots, the first one, a snapshot of the VM’s, and the second, a snapshot of the VMware Datastore? Third question, what do I need to consider when backing up multiple virtual machines from Datastores with tens, perhaps hundreds of virtual machines? Last question, what are the recomendations in cases where there are backups of multiple VM Groups (Subclients), each one with multiple virtual machines. Maybe some kind of re-engineering to put as many vi
Hi,Is there a procedure to migrate the commserve from windows to linux RhelI saw a someone ask this question before but it was quit a while backI couldn’t find any procedure in the documentation Best regards,
Dear community,We are currently implementing HPE StoreOnce with two MediaAgents. At the moment, the same StoreOnce device shows up twice in Commvault (one entry per MediaAgent). Jobs are working, but for HA and load balancing, should best practice be to add StoreOnce as a single library/store and associate both MediaAgents, or keep separate StoreOnce entries per MediaAgent?Additionally, ideally we need to separate specific backup workloads (e.g., VM backups handled by MA1, database backups by MA2). What is the recommended configuration for both high availability and dedicated backup flows per MediaAgent?I found also this from from documentation, but I’m not sure if this is my case here. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.42/software/adding_additional_mediaagents_to_existing_hpe_storeonce_library.htmlWould appreciate input from anyone with similar experience. Best regards,Nikos
Hi all,is there any way or feature whith which we can nearly 100% automatically validate our backups of VMs, DBs (MSSQL and/or Oracle) and maybe File Shares? Also the jobs/validations should be documentated within an report or something else.More and more frequently our customers are asking for such a kind of process/feature.In the past we walk through PoCs to handle the request with features such as Virutal Lab or VM Validation. But this kind of "automation" is not what the customers are looking for. Furthermore this way is missing the function of "randomization" of the to be restored objects (VMs).Do you have any experience with that request?
Dear Support Team,I would like to inform you that I am still facing issues with the backup process. I have attempted to resolve it, but unfortunately, I have not been successful.Your immediate assistance is required, as the domain server is currently not backing up. Please look into this issue as soon as possible. Best regards,Perwez Ahmed
I’m in the process of testing a new deployment and looking to enable Post Quantum Cryptography, building it out in my lab to confirm how it all works and following the process in documentation here: Enabling Post-Quantum Cryptography Config is an “all in one” with the CS & webserver on the same server on 11.40.10 media. When I have the two additional settings enabled for the CommServe the Command Centre doesn’t start up. Hello, I got email about Vulnerability in the JDBC Driver for SQL Server (Microsoft) does its effect commvault sql agent? https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/en-US/vulnerability/CVE-2025-59250
Hi all,I'm currently reviewing our Commcell’s Infrastructure Load Report and I have noticed the following:For the Linux MediaAgents, physical memory usage is around 15%, while virtual memory usage is approximately 70%. For the Windows MediaAgents and the Commserve (also Windows), both physical and virtual memory usage is similar.I'm wondering if this difference with the Linux MediaAgents indicates an underlying configuration issue or if it is simply the standard way Commvault operates in this environment. Also, at what point should I consider the memory usage to be a critical performance issue? Thanks!
Hi together, currently CV 11.40 does not support the Backup on VMs that are running on kubevirt/Kubernetes. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/protecting_kubernetes_with_commvault.html Are there any plans to support kubevirt? Regards.Michael

Hello, I am testing some restore of DevOps but when i am trying to restore something i am seeing only restore of Repository and not Board or pipeline. Hoe is its working?
HiI am trying to setup a Commvault LiveSync with ver. 11.40.23 where the CommServ are running on Rocky Linux 9.5 (with the newest patches etc.). When I am looking at both Commvault SQL server databases they are in “ready” state. And I have been able to run file system backup without any issues using the Commvault media agent, that will be used with the server plan, that I have made for this LiveSync setup.I am able without any issues to create a DR backup, but when I am trying to enable the Commvault LiveSync then the first replication ends with this error:Error code: [30:325]Description: Error encountered during backup. Hi All,Just checking if anyone is experiencing this issue with TrueNAS Scale as Disk Storage Target. We have multiple TrueNAS Scale that is having the same issues. We are getting Error code: 40:65 on all of them but they were working prior, and we confirm that the user we used has full access to the NFS share. Validate Job works just fine.Anyone seen this error before? We are on TrueNAS Scale 25.10-RC.1Error code: [40:65]Description: Error occurred in Disk Media, Path [\\192.168.172.30\commvault\FTKDP7_09.10.2025_21.16\CV_MAGNETIC\V_46927] [Permission denied error while accessing the path [\\192.168.172.30\commvault\FTKDP7_09.10.2025_21.16\CV_MAGNETIC\V_46927]. what is the difference here , do we need to perform both?Enabling Ransomware Protection for a HyperScale MediaAgent, vs Enabling Ransomware Protection for a HyperScale Cluster and in the documentation its says Ransomware protection is automatically enabled on new installations of the HyperScale X Reference Architecture. but recently i have done a deployment and its not enabled by default

why can't commVault do backup when postgresql is managed by patroni?
hey guys,All clients are v2 indexing at this point. I get an alert every so often that index backups haven’t ran in 30d for NDMP client. Each and every day there’s 100GB of inc. data being backed up, but the system scheduled Big Data Apps Index backups for that SP show that only “full” backups ever pick anything up, each day of the week when the incs run for the subclients of that NAS client, there doesn’t seem to be anything backed up at the index server level. Of course you can’t see any of this in the Command Center but is it normal for the classicIndexInstance backups to be zero bytes (and thus immediately age) in between Fulls?I see this phenomenon even on very small, minimal churn non-NDMP clients, so my question is - is there some threshold which determines IF an index server backup has anything new to write? For my very large-ish VMware SP’s and their Big Data Apps Index backup - those scoop up stuff every day, there’s never a 0 byte index backup, then again the SP has 3300 VMs
Hello Team,We are using Commvault backup with Commserve live sync option.Planning to configure new media agent and storage as mentioned in below.Newly two new media agent servers to be configured. Newly configuration of Disk libraries No need to migrate current backup data and instead will create new storage policies and new sub client jobs. Please advise is this configuration fine and any configuration level will be done of live sync. Thanks in advance.
Since the upgraded we can no longer see the failed backups when we click it on the dashboard
Hello there,Environment: netapp cluster (9.12) with Commvault 2023E Commserve (11.32.56)Current backup: ndmp to tape, 3 incrementals, one fullPossible new backup: cifs to disk w/ aux to tape, incremental and synthetic full only we are currently evaluating the switch from ndmp to nas/cifs backup, as ndmp has no “synthetic full”. this is disturbing when the full backup took 2 or 3 days for ~15TB.For this, I installed a spare server as standalone commserve (w/ eval license) to not disturb our productive system.Following the docs and several threads, I added the storage array and the SVM to Commvault and configured the subclient.I also configured snapdiffv3 on the netapp. The first initial full backup was successful, it created a snapshot where it pulls the files from.As I tried to do an incremental backup, the following happened:second snapshot createdsnapdiff v3 started, with the correct snapshots in the comparisonsnapdiff ended withCFSIScanEngine::ConfigureForChangelistScan(259) - Compar
