Currently my CommVault is using AD authentication which requires me to enter the same password I use when connecting to any server.  I’ve been asked to implement MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator as the second factor but the documentation is spread across several pages.  Is there a single step-by-step document that shows how to set up MFA with the Microsoft authenticator?  Do I have to disable SSO and the link to AD to get the Authenticator to work?Ken

Unfortunately I cannot install the Commvault Agent on the server. This error message occurs during installation. C++ packages are all installed. Restart already done. All Windows updates are installed. Installation directly on the client and from Commserv do not work.

Once install the second media agent, then it is showing offline.please guide us to make online or active.

Hi Community,I have a corrupted DDB Partition! This is a Azure Blob StoragePool Copy.The Job “Dedup DB Reconstruction” starts and trigger the Filesystem Restore Job.However, the job immediately reports an error “There was nothing to Restore” The last backup also did not save any data and the restore job will certainly refer to this. Is it possible to select the second last backup job? It contains the DDB partition Data Can I run the Filesystem restore manually and the "Dedup DB Reconstrution" workflow skips the Filesystem restore?I do not want to use the option "Reconstruct entire DDB without using a previous recovery backup”, as otherwise the complete data will be read from the Azure Blob Storage account  I also wanted to delete the current backup Job so that it might select the second last backup. Unfortunately, deleting DDB jobs is not possible! Does anyone have any idea how I can restore the DDB? Thanks and best regards,Andreas

Trying to grant our database team the ability to suspend, kill, or resume backup/restore jobs as they do a lot of weekend work and are constantly calling me for support. They are currently associated to the client admins role. I edited the role to include Job Management but the suspend, kill, resume are still greyed out for them.

10TB capacity license in useCurrently, 6.97TB (about 70%) is in use.I'm going to add another client to back it upThe backup capacity is estimated to be approximately 4TB.If so, do I need to buy more licenses?And is the capacity measurement method of the license application size or data written capacity?

Hi,  I have customized the default workflow ‘Demo_ServiceNowCreateIncident’ available in Commvault to create incidents in ServiceNow if we have failed backups in the environment. This worked fine for almost a year.The ServiceNow was integrated with AD and all users including the service account were accessing the ServiceNow using SSO. The user the workflow uses to Authenticates with ServiceNow every time the workflow triggers is an AD service account user. The AD user will login to ServiceNow using its credentials and OAuth token. But now that the Client enabled MFA on all their AD accounts due to Security policy, the workflow no longer works.  I tried to open a case with Support to request a workaround for this issue, and Support wants us to provide as much information as possible and what type of authentication can be used with ServiceNow. I don’t know what other authentication methods can be used to login to ServiceNow without triggering the MFA. My client is of opinion that Commvau

Can we install second media agent on existing commserve infra? actually, already schedule the backup and after second media agent installed, the respective schedule backup job changes the Media agent as second one. then will happen any issue or will backup start form be beginning what? 

HelloI installed commvault using CommvaultExpress_Media_11_34, I have selected:Create a new CommCell Create New DatabaseI saw message: Installation and configuration completed successfully with Command Center URL and Metrics Reporting URL.I opened /commandcenterurl. However, no wizzard to configure initial credential appeared. Tried to used windows server credential but didn’t let me log in.How can I login?  Thanks

Dear community,After initial Commvault installation, noticed that Im getting Anomaly notifications about “No Schedule” for “File System” about MediaAgents.Considering that all MediaAgents have internal backup jobs for DDB, INDEX (?) etc, is there any suggestion for further protection?What is the best practice to protect Media Agents?Best regards,Nikos

We have a user that is able to bypass the need for entering in their password + MFA token when logging into the Java console. This user is part of a group where MFA is enabled and SSO is disabled for our environment. I'm not sure what the reason for this would be? When the user initially logs in through the Java console, then opens up the web console, their login for some reason persists. So if they close out the Java console after closing out of the web console, they are then able to login to the Java console without the need for entering in their password or token. It seems as though for some reason the login session persists through the web console. I’m pretty sure this is an additional setting that needs to be modified somewhere, but I’m not exactly sure where this might be?

So, I’ve got a ticket in for this, but have only recieved remedial solutions.  Basically, when we back up the dedupe database, its snapshot appears to be happening ok, but it’s missing files, as in they’re simply not there (see below).   It’ll take days of downtime (hundreds of servers not backed up) if we simply need to rebuild this.  Could this be a corrupt DDB?  Anyone else seen this issue?  ERROR CODE [6:43]: Backup failed: unable to open or read a file. Configured to fail on any error. Please check the following: 1. The account that the File System agent uses has sufficient privileges to back up files. 2. The data being backed up can be accessed and is not on a path that is unmounted or is inaccessible. 3. A third-party product is not locking the files. 4. There is no corruption of the data on the disk. 5. Trying to do a decoupled installation of the agent on a RHEL server. Can complete the decoupled installation on the client without issue however when going to add the client in Commserve and using the option “Fetch the configuration information from the client that is already installed in decoupled mode” there is no option to tell it to use the Network Gateway that all remote agents connect through. How can this be achieved? 

It appears that AD-based Accounts are now subject to account lockout rules - is this an 11.32 feature, or has this been around for a while? Also, is there / is there going to be a method to unlock accounts via the CommCell Console, or am I going to be forced to use the Command Center?

Hello, Our security team has found a vulnerability in Python36. Now I saw that 38 and 39 are also on the CommServe. My question now is how can I clean this up? In the overview of the programs installed in Windows, I don't see anything from Python because it was delivered with Commvault. To solve the problem I would have to get rid of Python36 but I would like to simply delete the folder without consulting here.Is anyone able to help me ?RegardsThomas  

Hi All! I'm trying to figure out what could be the problem during bottleneck during my backups/restore that I do through Commvault; Some jobs come up "abnormal" so I would like to investigate more about that. I saw that you can use the PerfAnalysis.log files found on the media agent, but if I try to open one, this is its contents. 06/27 15:45:53 --- main(196) - Could not read log file or Performance counters for JobID 5155311 not found in the file Is the file perhaps only generated correctly in some situations?  

I’m being told by support that restoring PST is not possible using legacy indexing. That we must build a new Indexing server using CVSOLR indexing in order to restore PSTs. When did legacy indexing get deprecated? 11.34

Hello everyone,We still have a few public folders running on Exchange on prem and we recently upgraded from Exchange 2013 to 2019.  I’ve tried to configure backup but am getting:No service account(s) found for public folder processing. Please assure that a service account is assigned a malibox association with owner permissions on the root and subroot public folders in order to proceed with public folder operations.This looks to be an Exchange issue.  Is there documentation anywhere that shows the steps to configure Exchange?ThanksKen
