I’d like to use VSA based File Indexing for a single Windows VM file serverThere used to be a tick box option in the JAVA Console / Subclient setup - But that seems to have disappeared. The Option now is to-Use VM Groups in Command Center easy to do)-But I’m then guided to use ‘Plans’ Is there anyway I can bypass this and use my existing Storage Polices  I’m happy to use a plan if needed (as I only want VSA file indexing for a single VM - so this would be ‘standalone / isolated plan - specific to a single VM)  

So.. last year we’d implemented a scheme where there were many subclients looking for VMs through vCenter as such:We later noticed a major drag on vCenter, which was causing lockups and such.  We then changed the scheme around to something simpler, with far fewer subclients.  The issue went away.  As I see it - we simply had overburdened our ESX servers/vCenter with too many authentications and checks. Now, it’s being suggested to me that we create far MORE subclients.  I’m thinking of taking what it’s found now per datastore and putting them into a static content as such: VMs in the future will be handled differently (we’ve got a policy setup using category\tags in vCenter - this is our old school method for servers that haven’t been brought into the modern fold).  Question - does anyone know if this will generate more authentication traffic again?  CV could just authenticate once then go about its business with the list?We’re using a windows domain account to authenticate… I’d think

Hi Community,our customer has upgraded the CommVault Environment from Version 11.28.102 to 11.32.45.Since the upgrade we have Issues with AUXCopies and the VMware VSA backups.We have this Issues with our 4 physical Media agents (Windows 2019) at the head office.The following errors occur sporadically on different DDBs and MediaAgents The following app crash events occur in the Windows log on all 4 MediaAgents I have already carried out a CommVault Instance Repair on all 4 media agents, but unfortunately this has not solved the problem.A CommVault Case was created. Support suspects a Windows OS issue. But I can't believe that all 4 MediaAgents have an OS problem.A "check readiness" on the MAs shows no problemsHas anyone had similar problems after upgrading CommVault to version 11.32.45?best regards,Andreas  

Hello, Are all the firewall ports listed here (data protection network, except 8400,8403,8800-8900) only need to be open between hyperscale nodes or are they also needed between commserve/clients and hyperscale nodes?Hyperscale nodes will be used as media agents. https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/firewall_port_requirements_for_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture.html

How difficult is it to obtain authorisation to use the CommCell Console for new installations?Or am I better off just keeping an old Media Kit around?

Hoping to get an answer from the very well educated Community on the following question! What is the data path for Linux VM file / folder restorations done using FREL? What talks to what and over what port? Obviously, we have Media Agent and the VSA Access node involved writing directly into the ESXi datastore but where does the FREL fit into the connectivity picture?I have multiple ESXi hosts and a complex firewall configuration. I’m assuming a single FREL can service multiple ESXI hosts without issue but what ports do I need to open between which devices and which way? I’m guessing ports 8400 and 8403 but between which devices? TIA!

Hi all, I have a question regarding the association of Oracle (sub)clients to Plans. Let’s say I have the following schedules defined in my Plan: Incremental backup for all agent types: Daily at 22:00 Transaction Log backup for databases: Every 2 hours Full backup for databases: Every Friday at 20:00 An Oracle Client by default has: A “default” subclient (with Selective Online Full enabled) An ArchiveLog subclient If I assign the Instance or subclients to my Plan, which schedule(s) will then be applied to these subclients? In my opinion, the default subclient should follow schedule nr “3” because it’s a Full backup. And the ArchiveLog subclient should follow schedule “2” because it backs-up the logs. But is that indeed the case? I have my doubts about this. Thanks in advance!

HIi get the errorNo service account(s) found for public folder processing. Please assure that a service account is assigned a malibox association with owner permissions on the root and subroot public folders in order to proceed with public folder operations.Source: exch01, Process: CVMailBackupCoordinatorwhen back up the public folders. on exchange on Prem. Serivce account is administrator and has permission to root of Public folder and all subfolders.Thanks for help.Pavel

Hello , Sometimes the Comandcenter Website is suddenly unreachable . When i connect to the comweb Server i can see that the tomcat Service is not startet . In the Event log i find an Entry with the Tomcat service stopped unexpectly. We use the Version 11.28.93..Any Ideas ?  Thanks Michael 

Hello folks,I have a role with permissions to perform certain operations for platform users. In this role, only the restore "In Place Recover" and "In Place Full Machine Recovey" of the VM is allowed, but when updating to version 11.32.38 .In the command center, when restoring a VM, I get the "Out Place" option, which should not appear because I do not have those permissions; in the previous version 11.28.68 it did not appear as it should.Regards.

Hi !I’m used to old-style storage/schedule policies and clients/subclients associations..But we’re told that PLANS are the future, and we’ll have to move to Plans for sure.So I’ve deployed a few new MAs to protect some locations inside my company, where I have to protect VSA + file level backups.I have local disk backup, then auxcopy to tape and auxcopy to cloud from primary.MA is physical linux, as we have windows VSA clients, I have also deployed Windows VSA Proxy. Then I created Storage pools for local disk, tape copies and Cloud copies.To simplify things and test Plans, I created a Plan per location, with standard details, like 1 day RPO, 1 month of retention, with my backup timeslots, full timeslots (confusing with synthfull out of control, but we’ll discuss that later in this thread I guess).I created a VSA VM group that points to my VMWare location ( = selects all the VMs in that location, including my VSA proxy VM).For some VMs, I was asked to also provide file-level backup of

My sysadmin just noticed we’re running the obsolete Office 2013 on my CommVault mailbox proxy / O365 proxy / web server INF-SRV113.  My recollection is that this is required for CommVault to work properly (possibly the Compliance Search feature). Are there any challenges or gotchas with uninstalling Office 2013 and installing Office 2019? Will CommVault automagically start using the new version of Office?Ken

Hello guys,  I have 2 Maxdb databases configured in the same client where one of them completes sucessfully and the another one gets the following error: Details:OK ERR -24927,ERR_TOOLCHK: External backup tool not found The file '/opt/commvault/SapMaxDbAgent/in' already exists. I already remove the in, out and err files from the directory, but the error persist. Could you please helpe me fixing it?

Hi All, i have an to do Moving a Mount Path to an Existing Device . So what i have done: Disabel for new data weeks ago Today disable mountpath for pruning Added an new mountpath in disc the library starte the move mountpath operation Job started and now copy data So thats all okay bute now i have a question. Actually the schedule is off.  But how can i prevent that backups are written to the new mountpath when i enable the schedule. 

 Is there a way to reduce M365 licenses? We have already deactivated the Teams backups and Sharepoint backups because there is also an Azure recycle bin available. One idea would be to reduce the retention time. Does this mean anything in terms of licenses? Thanks for your tips!

we have diffrenet policy for database and its logs , storage policy retention are diffrenet for log is 1 day and db its 14 days , however logs are not getting pruned and when running the forcast report the DB backup job needs the logs  is it expected ?
