Hi,i have created a new V2 Virtual Server Agent sublient to backup my vCenter VMs.I miss this option like you see at the screenshot. In my V1 Virtual Server Agent i see this option. Is this normal? I set this option because i backup my fileserver and i want to have the possibility to restore single files from tape. Collect File DetailsSelect this option to collect file and folder information as part of streaming backups and IntelliSnap backup copies. Use this option when creating a copy for tape storage, because file and folder information is required when recovering files from tape.RegardsDennis

Good Morning All, i have an question regarding the download aof dr backups from the cloud.commvault.com portal in case of DR. We are using the feature Uploading DR Backups to Metallic Cloud. So in the case when all services are offline included the exchange or mailing function wich option we have to get the dr backup from commvault ? As per documentation Requesting Download Access for DR Backup SET Folders of a CommCell Environment (commvault.com) after the login and the download request an mail will send. But in case that the mailing is not working what can we do ? Is it possible to create an user account in the cloud.commvault.com with an external mail adress so that we have access to the dr backups incase that mailing on prod site is not working ? If yes it is also possible to do this for casp customers ?
I have a subclient with a single 4.6TB file, that will only get larger. Since it’s one file I don’t think additional data readers are going to help. I’m wondering if anyone has come across this challenge and has some tuning suggestions. The client is Linux and the filesystem of this file is in 4K blocks. Based on that I didn’t think increasing network agents from 2 to 4 or increasing application read size to say 4MB would help but I tried anyway and no increase in performance during testing. The target storage does dedup and compression, so it’s currently off at the client level.
Seems I don’t see this option during SP creation. I also don’t see any information about this in the rest API docs.I’m referring to this option.
Good Day Dear Community,I have a customer having several CommCells that they are using a main CommCell to manage all licenses of their CommCells. So I could not figure out if this is through a Global CommCell or a GRC (Global ComMCell Repository). But now I need to do a hardware refresh of their main CommServe. So either if they’re using GRC or Global, is the CommServe hardware refresh the same as a traditional CommServe? Or is there something else I should be aware of?I plan on using a simple backup/restore of the CommServe server on a server with same hostname/IP.Many thanks in advance for your input.
A few weeks ago I stumbled across the fact that I wasn’t running any DDB Verification jobs. When I look into this further, I found other “System Created” jobs that aren’t doing anything. Picture for reference: Some do work, some do nothing.Question: Should all these “System Created” schedules actually do something? It seems to me that if they’re part of the backup system and are created automatically, that they should be there for a reason and should be doing some work. Is it ever OK to have System Created schedules that don’t do any work?Ken
Hello Team,We are configuring Software cache to upload downloaded installation package. While copying software unable to show local drives. This is the greenfield installation and configured Commserve failover option. Please advise.
Hi Community,We are confused here, as we are planning to deploy Redhat Open Shift 4.13, we have checked for Commvault support. We could see the message OpenShift feature is deprecated :But another document says it will support:https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/124720_system_requirements_for_kubernetes.html Could you please clarify on this and also please share if you have any document for OpenShift setup/Configuration.Thanks
We can automatically upload copies of DR backups to the Commvault Cloud Services website. To Upload backup metadata to Commvault cloud we should toggle key for Upload backup metadata to Mettalic cloud. Right? What does the option Upload backup metadata to cloud library do?
Hello,as far as I remember there was a workflow to convert policies (schedule and storage) to plans. It seems to be not available any more. Is there an easy way to convert? Thanks.
Is there any way to poll/monitor the number of currently active Job Streams via CLI/API?We can see that value in the bottom part of the CommCell browser but I couldn’t find in the technical documentation any way to collect that value through some automated mechanism.Thank you!
What is the difference between protected and unprotected in kubernetes backup. When we start kubernetes backup, some namespace is protected state and some namespace is not protected state, is it possible to restore unprotected namespace?
Hi all. When looking in the Command Center under the Health Report, there is a section called “Scale Statistics” which displays me this: “Commserv database size is 64.25 GBThe CommServe database tables are too large.RemarksThe CommServe may be running beyond allowed scale limits. Needs immediate attention” I regularly as recommended by Commvault run the DBmaintenance, but this does not change anything. The setup have been running fine, but I’m just wondering if I should react on this. Regards-Anders
Hi Team, Could anyone help me understand why i could be seeing this errors on an oracle restore job. Considering the backup i am restoring from is from 1st which is recent, and the data verification for the job in the storage policy shows successful. The mediaagent is ready and the storage mountpaths associated to the job are also ready...other files are getting restored on the same job which tells me its not a communication issue but these ones it seems are not found? so i’m not sure if the job will complete successfully. Hi guys!I’m newbie here and trying to write a sql statement on commserv database returning all clients where operating system is MS Windows. It’s not a big deal - i’ve got something like belowSELECT id, componentNameId,attrName, attrVal FROM [CommServ].[dbo].[APP_ClientProp] where attrName='Operating System Name' and attrVal like 'Windows%';Now i would like to join table or view where information about installed agent/components are kept. I mean when you click on a commcell brower and expand client computes you can see Any idea where, in what table/view installed software on a particular clients can be found?I’m expecting results like: Or maybe i should use reports- if so what kind?Regards,Michal

When doing intellisnap for a windows file system agent, how to i change the directory D:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\ProductionData\SnapVolumeMounts To a different directory
Hello,In the Advanced Options of a backup job there is a posability to change the retention for the specidic job at launch in various copies. As per documentation the job will be pruned according to the specified retention time. Does that also hold true if I would specify a retention less then the storage policy copy properties? If I have a stg policy copy with 365 days and 1 cycle. If I specify 180 days for the job, will it be pruned after 180days and not 365 days?//Henke
Hello, Could you tell me which parameters to set for a RHEL 7.9 Linux media-agent, particularly for memory ?Is there anything to set with swap ? Regards,Fabrice
I am a huge fan of Activate. Many of nights were spent downing coffee whilst traveling down the massive rabbit-hole that is Activate. It does a few things very well. It does simple jobs horribly. So, who uses it? I do. In addition, I would love to hear about it if you used it as well. Most of the time that I get to one on one with other vaulters it is a topic quickly ignored. I even had one person say “What’s that?” yea- it is that product that no one really knows what to do with it. Kind of like Threatwise… What happened to that by the way?But .. you need it? Yep. I mean there are items such as Stealthbits or Varonis that do it , kind of. So why not keep one pane of glass and just use activate? Well… it’s kind of not easy . Or intuitive. In addition, no one can help you. “Well, just use the Documentation” -- You use it. It is never what is needed. Typically the steps before or after what you need are there. Never the actual steps. So I have built some seriously amazing reports within
Hellofor Method 2 : What is the scope of scanning for activities and files? Is there any impact on system performance when scanning these files or activities?Considering that they are scanned on the client machine frequently, why doesn't it result in a significant system load? thanks
Good morning,We have 3 subclients clients; VM, Filesystem, and MS SQL on a VM hosted on Hyper-V. I’m looking at the backup history in the msdb database, and my MS SQL backups kicked off from Commvault are working as intended, and I see “CommVault Galaxy Backup” as the backup set name. However… the VM incremental backup kicks off at 10pm, and I see message like this in the SQL alert log: I/O is frozen on database MyDatabase. No user action is required. However, if I/O is not resumed promptly, you could cancel the backup. Then a few seconds later: I/O was resumed on database MyDatabase. No user action is required. The backup at 9:25 was the incremental backup, while the 9:02 AM backup was me calling a full backup from the console. This might be a better example, this shows the 10pm incremental and a database backup: Can someone help me understand this? The MS SQL datafiles are supposed to be excluded from the VM backups, so why is the differential VM backup freezing IO on my datafiles?
