I have a question concerning Windows update on a Commserve.What is the best option:1. Use windows update assistant?2. Manually install al windows updates? I prefer to use Windows update, is there a Commvault Best Practice?How do you install Windows update on a Commserve?

Should it be domain admin? Client server have been crashed recently, then restored from commvault vm backup.  But after, I have duplicated of the server object:  The one with “OLD” is the old client entry with all the previous backups.  The other with the “?” is the new client entry that contains new backups.  How can I link the new one to my server?  I tried to reinstall client on server but it has recreate a third entry !  Because I want to have the “File System” entry on my new object to allow me to restore individual files in the futur. thank you for your help.

Hello,We currently have our primary copies stored on Hyperscale-X with secondary AUX copies residing at our opposing datacenter consisting of a traditional Windows MA attached to Nexsan storage.  We have a requirement to implement some sort of air gap solution.  I know it’s not fool-proof, but at the moment I’m considering a tertiary copy to move the data from either Hyperscale-X (local) or from the AUX copy to another MA/Storage located on a locked down network with a firewall in between.  The concern however is the length of time that we’d need to leave ports opened to create that air gap copy.  We could be talking dozens of TBs that would need to be copied and if we need to leave the ports opened for several hours, that’s going to increase our exposure.  Can anyone speak to how they’re maintaining an on-premise air gap solution and provide me with any suggestions?   I was thinking if we could somehow move that data to the air gap location via some sort of native hardware s

We have client with oldes oracle db and we must use agent v10, but after upgrade commserve and media agent to 11.28 backups stop working, error sugest that this is problem with network but it’s not true.

Hello,I missed the information about the installation/configuration. (or I'm looking wrong)I understand only (based on the documentation) that every region must have 1 VSA.Is it possible to have 1 VSA (or 1 VSA/MA) for all subscriptions in one region? If yes, how do you build that within Azure? If no, then every subscription needs own VSA/MA? If no (from question 1), how do you arrange communication between VSA in different subscription? Is that with virtual network peering? Or should we look at hub spoke model (Azure)?

Hi All,I have deployed Storage Accelerator on a Linux host but it does not seem to be working as the cloud team states that data transfer is still occurring cross-account.My setup is as follow:Client - Account 1S3 Bucket Account 1Media Agent (DDB) - Account 2The Storage Pool is created with DDB enabled on the Media Agent in Account 2. The idea is to have the client writing to the S3 bucket in the same account.The Media Agent can access the bucket across the account as backups are completing. I tested uploading a file from the client to the S3 bucket by using "aws cli s3 upload" command which completed successfully.I also added the ARN credential on the cloud library for Storage Accelerator.

I am trying to configure my CommCell to forward logs to a syslog server, but I cannot find where to enter the syslog server details. I am unable to follow the procedure in the documentation, as it starts by referring to a ‘Navigation Pane’ that does not exist anywhere in my version 11.28.63 console, nor does any other button, icon, or link that leads to a menu named ‘Manage’.  The Control Panel does have a ‘System’ icon in the ‘CommCell’ section, however, the resulting menu does not have a ‘Syslog server’ tile. There do not appear to be any reference images of the console interface available anywhere, so I am at a loss to figure out how to proceed. 

My command center is decent, but often I have to wait while the Command Center populates. I would assume that this sluggishness is a combination of web-server performance and sql performance.Are there tips and tricks out there to make this thing fly?   

Earlier this year I switched my OneDrive backups from V1 to V2 backups and it was a problematic exercise that took several months and several support tickets to get working.  I’m trying to confirm our retention and storage for the auditors and an having some difficulty.  When I sign on to the Command Center, I see that OneDrive backups use the OneDrive BU V2 plan (Command Center > Protect > Office365 > OneDrive for Business > OneDrive_V2 > Content).  Clicking the OneDrive BU V2 link, I see the retention is set to 3 years (1095 days) but that it doesn’t specify the backup copies.  Plans > OneDrive BU V2 > 3 year retentionIf I go into Protect > Office365 > OneDrive for Business > OneDrive_V2 > Configuration, in the Infrastructure settings section I see Server Plan is O365_Plan.

We introduced a new storage library in our Commcell and I am trying to copy some backup jobs over to the new library by creating a new Copy in storage policy. Initially I disabled the Data Aging option in the retention tab of the new copy. The goal was to stop the data aging from this new copy so I can compare job numbers in this new copy with job numbers in the old copy to ensure that all backup jobs have been copied over. Now when I enable the data aging and set extended retention rules, it doesn't look like it is being applied to existing backup jobs that have been copied to this new copy. Does anyone know how I can set the extended retention rules to existing jobs?

I have created a powershell script using powershell sdk module to run multiple vm level backups which runs the backup but when i use the same powershelll script inside a workflow it doesnt work for some reason giving me message : I NFO: Get-CVClient: client not found having id [0].  Is there some limitation or something wrong the way i am passing the scrip inside workflow.

Hi Vaulters, As per our customer concern, they have a Tape Library, which they want to use with a new MA that will be deployed, the main thing is that they hesitate which is the best way to deploy the MA (Virtual or Physical). The main points are as follows :Virtual : Easy deployment, HA provided by VMware Layer, but complex configuration with the Tape Library. Physical : Easier to deploy with the Tape Library since it can be directly attached, but no HA.Does anyone already faced this situation ? And what’s the recommended infra for the MA ? Hello,There is a post related to the hardware refresh we want to perform but there are references to the HA installation with LiveSync configured. What would be the correct order to perform such task? Should LiveSync be dismantled and HW refresh carried out on a standalone host and then LiveSync setup again?Just for clarification as the post title might be misleading, HW refresh of both primary and standby commsrv instances.Thanks in advance for any advice! 

Hi We are setting up an EC2 access node in AWS to take backups from our Aurora Postgres estate. We use Amazon Linux 2 for all our EC2 deployments - but it seems for Aurora PostgreSQL its not supported.  Why is it OK for Aurora MySQL but not Aurora PostgreSQL??? It seems a bit odd that the linux OS offered by AWS wouldn’t be supported.We would prefer to avoid RHEL as it would have cost / license implications (we use RHEL for on-prem deployments) and CentOS is a discontinued Linux distribution. Additionaly RHEL7 is a 10 years old OS that ends maintenance support in June 2024We are extremely keen to avoid windows because:(1) It stores Temp files on the access node will taking backup - (we are finding that failed jobs don’t clean up the temp files and eventually fill the temp space) - we want the data to just pass through the node -  and not provision an expensive big EBS volume - we wil

Goal is to migrate exchange v2 archived backups from disk library A to B (no tape involved). With that environment we allow users to access webconsole so that they can restore deleted emails if needed. My guess is that during the Aux Copy emails continue to be visible through webconsole without any impact there?!? Once I Aux Copy from Primary to the Secondary copy, I also assume that the promotion of the secondary copy to primary will then be the used by all the exchange indexing servers?Media agents/Exchange Access Nodes/Index and Wenconsole are all separate servers.Generally I would just follow the process listed on the links but wanted to check with the community and see if I am missing anything here. We have a fairly large amount of backups to move (over 150TB) and I want to make sure I`m covering everything before I start.
