I have a webserver we are no longer using (webserver is now hosted by commserve), and this webserver was also tagged/installed/configured as a media agent. However: it performed no media agent functions, just the webserver. My beliefs in “how to retire a media agent” are: Right click on media agent, choose “Delete media Agent”. A warning pop-up appears: says to view ‘media Agent impact Deletion report’ (and follow impact/remediation steps from there) and then when ready to actually delete the media agent, type in a long phrase to confirm deletion. Perform any remediation steps in the report so the report is ‘empty (and mine is, as it was never really used as a media agent). Put media agent into maintenance mode? Using the Commvault services UI/tool: Shut down the CommVault services on the media agent, set them to “not restart services”, and power off server/OS. Delicense the client associated with the media agent (i.e. it has the same name). I chose to use the “retire server workflo
Hi everyone, We’ve got a customer who intends to implement a storage replication, main storage is connected to a MediaAgent in which backed up data is written to it, customer has acquired same storage hardware and wants to implement a replication (A feature available on the storage system) between the main one and the newly bought one. We already know that we can implement this using AUX/DASH copies, but customer insist on implementing it through storage side. My question here is, how does commvault can manage this type of architecture ? Does the MediaAgent connected to the main storage system needs to also be mapped to the new one ? Is there any configuration needed from Commvault side to let it know about the new storage (Maybe configure it as a replication storage ...). In this case, the MEdiaAgent will automatically redirect it’s I/Os to the new Storage in case of a failure of the main one. Regards.
I deployed a FREL OVA machine and was using it for Commserve 1. Now the commserve1 is not in use and I would like to use the same FREL machine for a new Commserve. Can I use the same machine or I need to deploy a fresh OVA?
Is there a workflow for configuring WORM Storage Mode on Disk Libraries, not cloud ones? The article here (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/146623_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_disk_libraries.html) describes the steps to enable WORM Storage running a workflow to configure the WORM storage mode on disk libraries, not cloud ones. Is it still available? I downloaded the Enable WORM Storage workflow from Commvault store, but it’s not working here. After executing the workflow (Enable WORM Storage) the workflow got stuck in a pending state. Error Code: [19:857] Description: Parse error at line 5, column 1. Encountered: workflow Source: cvault-cs, Process: WorkflowI took a look inside the script and It seems to me that this workflow is specific to cloud libraries, not traditional disk Libraries. We are in the process of hyperscale refresh, Creating aux copy and once the data fully copied promoting new copy as primary is the method we are following,There is a dash copy which is copying data from old primary copy, there are many job to be copied, If we change the primary to new primary wethere these pending jobs get copied from new primary copy? Or do we need to wait unitl it completes fylly

Hi all, The user is currently using RHEL 7.9 and is on SP 28. He is aware that the latest version of support for RHEL by Commvault is 8.7 as per (https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/107801_system_requirements_for_red_hat_virtualization_access_nodes.html).Given the document was last updated a few years ago, could you please confirm if we extend support for 8.8?If not, when are we likely looking forward to supporting it? Thanks in advance!
Scenario:One Azure Tenant (“A”) with production workload only (Azure VMs, Azure Files, Azure SQL, & in-guest Applications). One Azure Tenant (“B”) solely for Backup resources (Media Agents, Blob Storage for primary Backup, Access Nodes, etc.).Both Tenants are in the same geographical region in Azure.Backup Azure resources from Tenant “A” using the resources from Tenant “B” with the Backup stored in Tenant “B” on Azure Blob. Why different Tenants? Mainly for administrative purposes (separate Users, Subscriptions, Network connectivity). Questions:Is this even possible? I’m aware that the resources used for Backup should be in the same geographical region, but what if they are in a different Tenant? From my understanding it should technically be possible, but I’m unsure about possible drawbacks (latency, egress costs, etc.)Any experiences or recommendations with such a setup?

Hello community, I would like to ask you for an advice. Lately I`ve found the failure when I did check readiness on media agent (windows 2016, CV version 2022E/11.28.56). Error:Communication failure between MediaAgent 172.xx.xx.23 and the client “mediaagent1”. Error returned is:Services on destination are down. Communication failure between MediaAgent 172.xx.xx.23 and the DDB MediaAgent “mediaagent1” Error returned is: Error returned is:Services on destination are down. When I checked services on both media agents, all are up and running. both are in same vlan, so no FW is in place. Both servers were rebooted in last days. DDBs on both MA`s are either online.if it is a normal FS client, I would push “repair software” option on the media agent. Thanks a lot for any advice.
Following the rather vague process at Enabling Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) on an Existing CommServe LiveSync Setup (commvault.com) for enabling TDE on a LiveSync configuration.Using the process here How to configure Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) in SQL Server (sqlshack.com) on the Primary CommServe it’s a relatively simple task to generate a Master Password, Cert, Encryption key and apply it on all Commvault databases AFTER turning off LiveSync.Copy the Cert to the secondary CommServe, and using same process after recreating the cert in SQL and Encryption keys apply encryption to “some” of the CommVault databases. However 4 Databases including the CommServ database are in the “Restoring” state and encryption cannot be applied to them. I believe they are in the "Restoring" state due to the log shipping configuration?Only way to do so was run the RESTORE DATABASE [CommServ] WITH RECOVERY to change the state of the Database and then apply the encryption settings. Problem is that
We have installed the new Comm Server for the 10 Virtual machine backup and still not updated the license and it is runing in the trial license .My organization wants to test the DR restore .So we have reinstalled the Comm Server OS and Comm Server Tool. But when we try to restore the Comm server with the old DR backup , it is stuck and asking the license file .

I have several jobs are failing with the same error below. The Job started running but then stopped. See attachments. Error Code: [62:306] Description: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. Source: commnode08sl.aptproduction.com, Process: cvd
Hi, In my environment 2 data center and centralized commcell, commserver data replication is happening every 15mints, yesterday network team done switch level upgradation in dc2, because of the network activity, DC2 disks library are fluctuating, and we are facing issue Index restore jobs running more 12 hours. still index restore running, looking for suggestions.
We are out of space on our storage and when executing Run space Reclamation it stops the job at 70% and stays at that. anyone can help me???? 428 29a0 09/23 10:52:15 282424 Failed to open file [\\storage02\CV_Daily$\Library\QNL4HN_10.05.2021_11.43\CV_MAGNETIC\V_164504\CHUNK_3347148\SFILE_CONTAINER.idx]. Hi there,I just have a question about the Unusual file activity. When I go there I can see the graph and the graph also shows the Deleted Files including how many filers were deleted and the date they got deleted. So, Is it possible to see the details for that? Or generate a report for that? Thank you.
Is the any reason for the NDMP Properties button to be greyed out on a netapp that was added to array managment? I am able to take a snap backup, when the back copy runs I get the following messageError Code: [39:28]Description: Please enter NDMP credentials for client:[myNetapp].Source: cvcs2, Process: NasBackup However, the NDMP Properties button is greyed out so I cannot add the credentials there.
I have a customer with a deprecated Commvault environment that’s on V11 SP10. They no longer use the environment and want to recover Mailbox Classic Data.I’m seeing a strange issue, where I cannot recover multiple mail messages (and by default entire mailboxes) if there are attachments in the mail. If I recover messages with no attachment, then I can recover them into a PST file. The error I see is:Looking at the logs, the restore job is trying to reference a DDB ID that isn’t available under Storage Resources. I suspect it may have been deleted at some point (the system has been inactive for a few years). The active DDB’s are all online and accessible. My understanding is that a DDB isn’t required for a recovery operation, but it seems to be causing issues with mails that contain attachments. I configured the MA (which also hosts the DDB’s) to be the target for the PST recovery to avoid any impact on their Production environment and new backup solution, so recoveries are ‘local’. Is the
Hi everyone, We are in the progress of testing how to setup Gridstor with shared library which mount paths are assigned to each Media Agent locally (no NAS available). Assuming we have Disk Library configured with MA01 and MA02, mount paths are shared to each other (read access only) configured as below: Disk Library MA01 MA02 Mount Path A Mount Path C Mount Path B Mount Path D \\Mount Path C (Read Only) \\Mount Path A (Read Only) \\Mount Path D (Read Only) \\Mount Path B (Read Only) However, if MA01 down, with Gridstor backup would continue to run on MA02. But when comes to restore (coincidently), MA02 would not be able to access shared mount path on MA01. We being told that we could re-zone/mount the Mount Path A and Mount Path A to MA02, configure mount path as part of MA02 then we could perform data restoration. Example as illustrated below: Disk Library MA01 MA02 Mount Path A Mount Path C Mount
Hello to all,Because is not clear for me in documentation, I would like to find if Commvault (not Metallic) support:In-flight encryption At rest encryptionThank you in advance,Nikos
