Hi guys, I’m planning an upgrade and move of an Commserver version 11.20 on Windows Server 2012 R2 to a new server on Windows 2019 installed with Commserve 11.28 2022E to get the MSSQL upgraded as well. I will use DR Assistant Tool as I usually do and as far as I can see in docs this should work according to this statement…“Verify that the destination CommServe host installed with the same (or higher) service pack and hotfix pack as the database that is available in the DR backup that you plan to restore.” Has anyone done a similar upgrade/move between versions? You can manage and secure Commvault login credentials, application credentials, and administrative login sessions using CyberArk’s Privileged Credentials and Session Management solution.With CyberArk and Commvault integration, you can synchronously rotate account passwords across your environment. Commvault receives password rotation requests to update application and local admin account credentials so that backups continue to run seamlessly, without manual intervention. You can also use CyberArk session management to log on to Commvault using one-time use admin credentials. This went relatively straightforward. The only thing that is missing in Commvault is a way to verify that the password rotation was successful.One can either try using the commcell user or the application user to browse a subclient to test whether the change was successful. Hi,We can restore the file server manually when the client need it. Now the client to ask for can we restore the backup in a schedule basis like everyday at 11.59 PM the restore would be perform automatically.Regards,awsupport1
To try to best explain the situation we need to possibly have 3 environments set up in the Commvault CommServe for our organization. We would technically need to have this in order to separate our three groups that have access to the Commserve already to their respective environments that they would be able to have access to. Currently I have modified their security profiles in order to access certain libraries and media agents but this is proving to be difficult to maintain and I'm just wondering if I'm going about this the wrong way and that there is an easier way to separate the organizations. So for example if I have Group 1 group 2 and Group 3 that have their own individual clients and media agents and libraries that are associated to those groups, then I could associate user accounts to who can have access to those particular groups.I'm wondering if setting these up as companies would be the better option in the web GUI of the comserve or what would be the best practice for this
our commserv is currently running on windows failover cluster , we would like to upgrade the OS and version and change the cluster to livesync i am planning below upgrading the cluster commserv to supported version ,currently its running on 11.26installing failover lyve sync feature on this cluster , setting up stand by commserv with latest os and version , do a failover and if everything works , stop or kill the live sync , create a new server with latest version and make it as standby with same old commserv name , and do a failback can anyone advise if this works? or any better solution

I have a few store once devices in my environment.i haven’t been able to figure out what the best practice is in regards to creating catalyst stores.up until now, i have simply created 1 store per site, so all backups go to the same store (sql,file,web, etc)that is to keep it simple. but i have read a few places that the “correct” approach would be to create a store per content group. so one store for fileserver backup, 1 for db backup, etc.Has anyone stumbled upon any actual recommendations ?

Hey guys, we are trying to perform cross client restore of HANA DB. CV version on both clients is 11.28.102 and HANA installed on both is version 2. Destination pseudoclient has in HANA instance configured also source physical client (Modify instance propery → details → Hana Database instance contain both source and destination server). Both servers are on same network, connectivity was tested from both ends. Destination param file contain srcCrossClient and srcCrossSIDName values. hi , i have done the vmware application validation ,and its working , but i wonder how to select which storage policy copy it should validate it from ,i have prodcution site and DR site , and i want the backup validation happen from the secondary copy of Storage policy is there anyway i can select the copy precedence during the app validation
Hello,We found that in our commserver, you can access the web.config file with the url http..//<commserver>/console/web.config. (replaced : with .. so the auto format wouldn’t convert it to an clickable url)This was found during a vunerability tests and we want to remove the access.Can we remove the hole Subpage /console, because we don’t use this feature anyway.Or how would you remove the access to the file? i am getting below warning while taking datbase backup i tried to use the scan /tns string but still error persist , i tried service instead of scan then the warning gone is this the right approach .what is the permission required for user account in os and db levelOracle RAC database ] is configured with / as connect string. Please configure TNS or SCAN connect string to use all available nodes for backup.
What’s the best way to find all PSTs from all my laptops and AWS Workspaces? I’d try File Analytics to search for .PST from our PCs but unsuccessful due to 500+ objects. The WebConsole was frozen. Had to kill the task. TIA

Hi,Our backup is connected to the VmWare VMs that are divided into two clusters:- vcsa-sap.seab.lan , whose VMs are present in the SLA- vcsa.seab.lan, whose VMs are not present in the SLAOn 30 October 2023, the certificate of vcsa.seab.lan was renewed and since then the VMs have disappeared from the Commvault SLA on the Command Centre page. Before the certificate was renewed, there were 90 VMs in both clusters.Now only those of the vcsa-sap.seab.lan cluster are present (43 VMs) but not those of the vcsa.seab.lan cluster. I need instructions on how to proceed in order to add the new certificate in Commvault and restore the correct functioning of the SLAThank youCarmine
i have set up the Replication for File System Agents, and its working as expected ,i have only one backup site and replicating from that backup i would like to know how can i replicate to previous version incase the latest one got affected , also how can i do the validation while or before replication , i dont see any option for Replication for File System Agents. i have read we can integrate it with 3rd party solution to check , can we do it for this scenario and also do we need license for this and do we have trial
Hello Guys! We know that working (especial a lot) in webfrontends is terrible, compared to a native Software/Programm/App installation. Every klick is a kind of reload. Klicks in the Java Gui are often instant, on web there is always a amount of waiting time. One way to avoid the command center as much as you can is to write your own little Software, with API Calls, or CV cmdled, or qcommands. But if you have to use the command center, and commvault is pushing us more and more into that, i want to improve the experience as much as possible. So for that I’m asking you, if someone did that already. Whats currently in my mind: - Find the fastes Browser. There a Benchmark websites/tools available. - Customize this Browser (= tuning for Performance) for just one special topic: The command center (Use other browser for all the different internet stuff/not Command Center related Stuff). what is the difference between if am scheduling a restore after each backup job of a client to a different destination and using auto recovery for replicating to different destination , what are the advantnags if i am using replication can i go back to older restoration point ?.

Hi All,in the infrastructure that I manage, I have a Commserve and a Media Agent on premise (cmvCServe and cmvMA01) and another MA (cmvMA02). Due to cost issues, only the Commserve is directly replicated on a remote infrastructure dedicated to any Disaster Recovery.A second MA (cmvMA02) is active on a DR infrastructure, but not actually used.Both MA are connected to two different S3 libraries in the cloud where the respective DDB is also present.In the event of a disaster, can I recover the backups carried out by the on-prem MA by configuring the share of the library located on the first MA to be reached and used throught the second MA, positioned in the DR environment?Is this a viable configuration?Thanks in advance for your answers!Best Regards
