Dear Team, We have around 20 LTO9 tapes available to take backup weekly and monthly secondary copy. Now I need to assign each media to dedicated media group once loaded into the tape library not for manually move.I gone through commvault documents says that we have an options to create Barcode patterns with the media to assign automatically to the particular media pool or media group. My questions, we have Weekly and Monthly media pool and AFK001L9, AFK002L9, AFK003L9, AFK004L9, AFK005L9. I need to assign AFK001L9, AFK002L9 media to Weekly pool and AFK003L9, AFK004L9, AFK005L9 medias to Monthly pool.   Barcode pattern name and Barcode pattern option???? Could you please help to fix the issue. We have moved a tape drive from one media server to another media server. When configuring the tape drive in the commvault, do we have to deconfigure the old tape drive configuration in the commvault. If so does the assigned tapes on the old media servers loose the data?

i have sql server backup to on premsie disk and i have a media agent and storafe in azure cloud  i want to do replication to azure storage from there i need to do restore a vm where i have created instance  but i dont see an ioption to select the copy to replicate it from 

I have a question, Is there a way to create a CSV from an Active Directory? I don't want to restore the objects, just compare them If the restore fails to restore information, Commvault also generates a CSV with the failed information

How can we select from which copy to be replicated for sql backupi have sql backup to disk and then dash copy to azure, i want to do auto recovery to azure sql server,while creating replication group i dont see an option to choose the copy

Hello All,We're looking into implementing Air Gap protect as outlined here:https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/essential/air_gap_protect.htmlwe understand the principle behind air gapping and what the benefits are, however I’m wondering what does the air gap protect storage actually do? If we are already configuring an air gap between systems such as with a network topology, or for example with VM power management, ect… then what does the air gap storage do exactly? Say versus just any other type of cloud storage? thanks!Lani

Hello Team,We are planning to configure O365 backup using Commvault in an on-premises environment.Please advise the hardware requirement of Media agent, access node & indexing and any other prerequisites.We have deduplication hardware appliance that will use of Disk library.The access node we are planning to keep in DMZ environment, so that what are the ports communication is needed from internal and o365 communication also.And please let me know the deduplication and compression will use Commvault end or external storage appliance. Thanks in advance. 

couldn't restore mailbox mails from full backup as the older mails which backup was taken wasn't found and even created recovery point to test but couldn't be done.

Hello, I’d like to use a SAN data server to present the several LUNs, coming from SAN storage, to two different MediaAgent.The question is: on SAN data server, have I to use LVM, to create volume group, logical volume and lhe filesystem, to group these LUNs and then share the mount path to the Media Agents?If so, I think there is a filesystem size limit that cannot be exceeded for a single volume and consequently the corresponding mount path configured on the SAN data server and shared to the Media Agents.Another question: could I configure one of the two media agents as a san data server?Thanks and regards

Hi,I am planning on moving a CommServe to Azure.As part of my planning I will make sure that once the CommServe is migrate to Azure it can talk to the Media Agents & Clients on ports 8400-8403 and vice versa. I will also have ports 80 & 443 open so I can connect to the Web Console. Am I missing again ?  Thanks  

Hi,I have just migrated my mailboxes to o365 and I am using Metallic to back them up.There is now a need to enable Journaling on o365 so can Metallic backup / archive this mailbox ? What are others doing that have a similar config to mine.Thanks

Hello Commvault community,Ιn case it needs to be implemented GFS (Grandfather-Father-Son) for VMware / Azure VMs workloads, what is the preferred tier to use in Azure?I assume that hot tier is ideal for daily backups (with 7-14 days retention), but what about  weekly backup jobs with 180 days+ retention ?Can hot tier combined with cool tier or must create a new cool/cold container (with new DDB) for these weekly backup jobs? To split daily backups → hot tier and weekly backups -->cool / cold tier.What is the best approach for this case? Please for your feedback,Nikos

While running auxillary copy job media marked as appendable its not full , after appendable is not reusableThis appendable media is not full, also tape is getting stuck inside the drive,if we can reuse this appendable tape without erase the existing data(because we data retention in 5 years) please share any solution for this issue

Is it supported IntelliSnap feature on KVM environment. How to take backup of Oracle DB using RMAN. Currently we have only Commvault Backup & Recovery For Virtual Machines license. The goal on our Linux file server is to replace the current /project1/ directory with new /project1/ directory, all the same data, but the data stored on different back-end storage. All of this data is backed up by Commvault with the Linux File Server Agent but not doing block level backups.However, when doing a test, we discovered that Commvault will back up the data again after its moved back to the new /project1/test/ directory, even though the data is exactly the same (same file sizes, modified dates, etc).I populated a folder on the file server /project1/test and created a Commvault sub-client for only that directory. I ran a manual full backup, which backed up 344MB of data.Then I ran the following commands (as root on the linux file server)rsync -avHxAPS /project1/test/ ~user/temp/Removed /project1/test/ using:rm -fr /project1/test/Synced the data back from /temp/rsync -avHxAPS ~user/temp/ /project1/test/Reinitialize the xfs project quota:xfs_quota -x -c 'project -s test' /proje
