Hello,I want to confirm that the Un-aged jobs on a tape library can be used to extend existing retention on a tape that is not exported yet.I want to increse the retention before export it. Thanks !

All backup jobs seem to be stuck on waiting and dont seem to go any further and stay on waiting. 

Hi Folks, Configured one of the windows client in Commvault 11.28 version. While creating the backup, in properties→ Content→ Browse→ Available Volume Drives are not listing up. Hi All,I’m wondering about how many times the job manager in Metallic will retry a job that is scheduled, if for some reason like connectivity issues to the workload present and Metallic cant effectively run the job (maybe not a good scenario, it may just failed not sure). As in how many times it will retry by default? I know there are parameters for this under the traditional Commvault platform, but haven't found it in Metallic.Kind thanksMark

Hi, We have CV running at 11.32.30 and CommServe configured in HA with Livesync working perfectly fine. As a part of the organizational change, we have to modify the CommServe HOST NAME for both active and passive Commserve Hosts. Can we do this change with out any harm to the configuration? if any one has performed it or if it is documented, can you please point me to it ? I am a little worried to do this change as it can disturb the entire configuration. Any quick suggestions will be of great help. RegardsRaj 

Hi,Our backup is connected to the VmWare VMs that are divided into two clusters:- vcsa-sap.seab.lan , whose VMs are present in the SLA- vcsa.seab.lan, whose VMs are not present in the SLAOn 30 October 2023, the certificate of vcsa.seab.lan was renewed and since then the VMs have disappeared from the Commvault SLA on the Command Centre page.  Before the certificate was renewed, there were 90 VMs in both clusters.Now only those of the vcsa-sap.seab.lan cluster are present (43 VMs) but not those of the vcsa.seab.lan cluster.  I need instructions on how to proceed in order to add the new certificate in Commvault and restore the correct functioning of the SLAThank youCarmine 

i have set up the  Replication for File System Agents,  and its working as expected ,i have only one backup site and replicating from that backup  i would like to know how can i replicate to previous version incase the latest one got affected , also how can i do the validation while or before replication , i dont see any option for Replication for File System Agents. i have read we can integrate it with 3rd party solution to check , can we do it for this scenario  and also do we need license for this and do we have trial 

Hi,I have a Domain Controller and we back it up with Activate Directory agent and File Level backup as well. However, when I tried to restore a file in the folder SYSVOL, I found out that Commvault did not back up that SYSVOL folder at all. Does anybody know why Commvault skipped backing up SYSVOL folder?Thank you.

Hello Guys! We know that working (especial a lot) in webfrontends is terrible, compared to a native Software/Programm/App installation. Every klick is a kind of reload. Klicks in the Java Gui are often instant, on web there is always a amount of waiting time. One way to avoid the command center as much as you can is to write your own little Software, with API Calls, or CV cmdled, or qcommands.  But if you have to use the command center, and commvault is pushing us more and more into that, i want to improve the experience as much as possible. So for that I’m asking you, if someone did that already.  Whats currently in my mind: - Find the fastes Browser. There a Benchmark websites/tools available. - Customize this Browser (= tuning for Performance) for just one special topic: The command center (Use other browser for all the different internet stuff/not Command Center related Stuff). HI Team. Environment has high powered media agents with all SSD that are proxy/access node/media agents. Using intellisnap. Need to configure vsa snap backup copy to use proxyless and mount the snap on the media agents and not using the esxihost. I’ve found a lot of documentation talking about it benefits and caveats but nothing that states how to actually configure it. VSA subclient forces the configure of (just 1) esxi host to act as the proxy to mount snapshots. Thank you.   

Dear Community, Thank you to everyone in advance for their replies - we have a bit of a headscratcher on our hands here, one that we have failed to resolve despite our best efforts so far. A support case is ongoing, but we were pointed back towards our own infrastructure - but let's start at the beginning. September 8th, my former colleague and Commvault admin (who unfortunately left the company) enabled storage policy level encryption. This led to some issues where synthetic full backup jobs were no longer running due to decryption issues, which in turn led to our primary media agent running full.September 25th, I once again disabled storage policy encryption because I thought that may fix the issue, but it did not. I created a spillover path on our offsite media agent to keep backup jobs running, and a few days later, the issue that caused the synthetic full jobs to fail was resolved. IncrementalSpecifies the job as an Incremental backup, which backs up only that portion of the data that is new or has changed since the last backup. will there be any record in incremental backup if a file has been deleted since last backup. For ex: i have full backup on sunday and then incremental and next sunday synthetic full , how does the system track the deleted files or file that has not changed since last full backup.  i tried to restore a folder to different location. it worked fine , then i deleted a file from source and performed a incremental and restored but the deleted file is still there in the restored location .

I write backups to an on-prem SAN.  I have a small amount of data on one client that needs to be encrypted to meet a data at rest encryption requirment.Is there a way to only encrypt data backed up from a singe directory on a Windows client?  Or a single drive on that client?If not, what is the best option for encrypting my data at rest with the least impact on backup times.  I do not need to encrypt it in transit, just at rest. Thanks,Larry Upton 

My CommVault license expires Saturday (today being Thursday).  I received a new license file from CommVault and applied.  The software components to back up VMs and Mail & Cloud Apps have an expiry date of Dec 2024.  Weirdly, my Metallic storage still shows as expiring Dec 16 2023.How long does it take for the new license to be applied? I tried applying the license directly from the CommServer but got the message “The license key has already been applied”.  Any suggestions on what to check to figure out why the expiry date on my Metallic storage hasn’t updated?Ken

Hello Team,my customer has a 400TB backend storage and 4TB ddb space (two partitions). Both ddb disks are full.I see 1.062.831.168 unique blocks on files db. Fact is he needs to increase his ddb space but it takes time to organize disks and install them. What can we do to bridge this time. Is there a “space reclamation” for the ddb disks too. May be a seal is the solution because from ddb view we start from scratch. I know the obvious consequences such as baseline and network load. Empty the ddb paths and do a restore was a thought. Do you have other suggestionsThanksJoerg

HiI noticed in the documentation a note about the lack of Commvault support for Table level restores.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/20248_configuring_oracle_subclients_for_table_level_restores.html “If you use Oracle 12c or a more recent version, you can only use this procedure for databases that are not Container Databases (CDB). To restore tables in Container Databases, you must use the RMAN command line.” Are there any plans to support this via the GUI going forwards? Container Databases have been a feature in oracle for over a decade now.   

Hello everyoneWe have strange problem with assighnmen of the unix gropup for oracle data agnet.Machine is added as client trough commcell console and the following agents are instaled: file system core, file system agent and oracle agent.There is no firewll betwen commcell server, media agent server and client.Client machine OS is AIX 7.1.During installation setup we assign the Unix group "dba" .After installation finished successfuly we start file backup and it finished successfuly so we asume everything work fine.When we try to initiate backup of oracle data base it give us an error ORA-19506: failed to create sequential file and the job stay in pending state.We checked what group is assigned to /opt/commvault/ , /etc/CommVaultRegistry/ and it seams everything in this directories are with propper unix grou "dba".We checked ORASBT.log log file ,and there were errors that it cannot read this files in registry./etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/Instance001/iDataAgent/.properties/etc/CommVaul
