Details below, but in a nutshell, I’ve successfully set up two VSA proxies for the hotadd transport thus far, one at each of two sites.  One site, at least, needs more. I “swear” that I’ve set this proxy up the same as the others, but for the life of me, it’s not appearing on the access node list: Both the existing proxy and new one have the following software: They’re on the same subnet (sequential IPs, for that matter) and both have established communication with the Commcenter on port 8403.  The working VSA also has a session with port 8400, altho it’s working so that may be the reason why…I can successfully cvping on ports 8400 & 8403 to the commcenter and o

Hello, Yesterday I upgraded the Commserve serve from FR28 to FR32. Unfortunately replication process for Commserve DB between the server is not working properly after upgrade. The issue which appeared is: Query Result [Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ExecutionFailureException:The database was backed up on a server running version 15.00.4280. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 13.00.5216. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server. RESTORE LOG is terminated. Please let me know me probability  solution. Regards, Michal

We have AIX client where we haven’t configured Commvault, But our server team had cloned this AIX client from another server.When I give Commvault status command on this cloned server, it displays the name of the server that is in backup.I want to uninstall Commvault from the cloned server and if I select “Remove all packages locally” will it uninstall the Commvault from the server which we are backing up? As this cloned server displays the name of the server that is in backup.I understand that remove all package locally does decoupled uninstallation where it doesn’t communicate with Commserve computer. I just want to make sure, me uninstalling package from cloned server shouldn’t affect the original one.

Hello,I installed by my customer the CDR package on the Commserve server (V 2022E) to replicate DRBACKUP directory to another windows server. It didn’t work for unknown reason, so I decided to uninstall/reinstall/repair the package. But there is no option, how to do it. So I released the license for for the CDR client and then deleted. Now I have no access to the CDR client software and its not possible to uninstall/activate/reconfigure it. Is there any possibility to reinstall/uninstall the CDR client on the Commserve server ?Thank youJiri. 

Hi,I tried to extend the File Extensions for Windows File Server Archiving but cannot find the Option in the Command Center or a Additional Setting. In the old days this was possible I guess.Can someone help?Kind Regards

A few days ago, I created a new schedule policy for our Linux file server (which has about 377 TB of data), moving it from 3x daily incremental backups to 1x daily. Since then, the incremental backup job for this particular server has been in the “Scan” stage for 19 hours. The job does not appear to be hung, as the Job Update Time is updating regularly. Is switching the schedule associated with a subclient enough to prompt a rescan of everything? Is this normal behavior? Prior to this, the incremental backups would take between 3 and 7 hours.

0365 has issue with discovery.  Are we able to MR upgrade client 10 11.28.76 while CS/MA is 11.28.44?

our production and DR having hyperscale 1.5 , and we are refreshing production hyperscale 1.5 to hyperscale x and planning to add old production hyperscale 1.5 to DR to increase the capacity any best and easy way to do it ?  

We’re investigating creating a virtual disk, attaching it to our Windows file server, and encrypting it with Bitlocker to use as a “restricted data drive” in order to meet requirements for our client data agreements. While looking into how Commvault handles Bitlocker encryption, I’ve found that the drive must be unlocked to be backed up, and that file-level browse and restore may/will not be possible, given that the data is encrypted. I have two questions:If the Windows File System agent is installed, does this allow for file-level backup and restores? How does deduplication work on a Bitlocker-encrypted drive?

Hi All,We have configured Network Share backup for FSx and would like to somehow detect if permissions for the credential we use are removed from folder and files in that folder are not protected any more. What we found in testing that Full backup gives an error if it encounters a folder with no permissions but Incremental or Diff not. Any ideas?Thanks

Hi Guys, Anyone on commserve linux? Could you tell me if you are able to deploy any workflow? I am getting ‘Error connecting to workflow Engine on the console’...on cvd.log i see: “ Unable to connect to server: 0xECCC006F:{CQISocket::Connect(358)/ErrNo.111.(Connection Refused)}Nothing recent on the WorkflowEngine.log since the installation.Not sure if this is supported for linux commserve, though i do not see it explicitly provided in the limitations of commserve documentation.

Hello!Consider the following scenario:Oracle CDB DB named CDB01.Oracle PDB DB named PDB01Oracle PDB DB named PDB02Oracle PDB DB named PDB03 Customer wants to backup PDB01 only once and keep it for 5 years. So, subclient is created pointing to PDB01 only. Full Backup is made, including logs. Consider January 1st as the backup date. PDB02 and 03 need to be backed up daily. Then, a subclient is created, including PDBs 02, 03, CDB&ROOT and PDB&SEED (excluding PDB01). That sublcient is backed up with daily fulls. With 1 day retentions. I noticed that the backups for CDB01 (excluding PDB01) which are daily made, with 1 day retention are not getting pruned. Day retention and forecast report states that the CDB01 jobs are required (LOG_ RULE) by the PDB01 job (which previously ran only once and will be kept for 5 years). How to work around this situation?PDB01 needs to be backed up only

I’ve had this problem for years with 2012, 2016, 2019 and now Azure Stack HCI clusters where, if there’s been some sort of blip on the network or with a particular host, that we can get increasing numbers of non __GX_Backup named (normal named) .avhdx files at every backup on a small percentage of VMs (not the same VMs each time and problem is intermittent).The disks show as differencing but there are no checkpoints listed on Hyper-V manager and this usually requires downtime to consolidate the disks by restore to fix it.Commvault support advised they’ve never seen this particular issue before and that have always said that it’s a Microsoft issue but I wondered if anyone else had ever seen it.I don’t have the issue with non clustered VMs where the backup type is set to “File System and Application Consistent” instead of “Crash Consistent” like it is on the clusters.I think the issue is probably more related to the clusters than the backup type but am not

Hello. Will greatly appreciate your feedback/guidance here.  I need to enable intellisnap for subclients with the data on a netapp source. It’s vmware, and supposedly volumes that are “just volumes”: not nfs, not cifs or anything specfic to a particular application. The customer “doesn’t want NDMP in the environment”. I see in the NAS client there is, ndmp, nfs and cifs as options.  How can I configure the nas client to snap ‘generic’ or just ‘ad hoc’ volumes for lack of a better way to describe them without using the ndmp or nfs or cifs agents under the CV NAS client ? I am not seeing a way to do this. The storage policy is set up with a snap primary copy for the source and a vault/replica copy to a destination netapp. The customer doesn’t want ndmp used and doesn’t want streaming method used. Is this even possible ?Thank you! 

Hi all, i was trying to find out what might be the cause here but I am stumped… We are using netapp as HW, trying to do a ndmp intellisnap snapshot and it fails with below:Error Code: [32:392]Description: Failed to prepare snapshot. : [Failed to determine volume and path info. Error[0xEDDD0001:{CvNetAppArrayOps::determineVolumeAndPath(365)/Int.1.0x1-Connection failed. Error[Cannot log in to file server - no file server name has been set.]}]]Source: x, Process: vsbkp  I’ve checked the logs and I see that it logins to cluster and gets credentials for it..I have the cluster itself added to Commvault, also the SVM, but for some reason it fails..

Hi community. I would like to create a dynamic WizardBlock that iterates over a list and displays PopupInputs for all the entries in the list. I tried it already like in the picture below. Unfortunately this just puts every PopupInput after the other but without the “back” and “next” buttons. It is completely ignoring the WizardBlock. The same apllies to a modified version where I put the WizardBlock inside the ForEach loop.  Any ideas if and how I could achieve my goal? I would even go with a solution created dynamically by java code if there is no other option. But I also cannot figure out how I would do that. Best regardsPasqual

Hi,I have so far replaced three drives in our DELL/EMC ML3 Tape Lib and still experiencing the same problem. Currently, there’s one valid drive that is working fine - when it comes to the other one, it is mounted and immediately unmounted after a couple of seconds - one try after another in an endless loop.According to DELL, there’s nothing in the library log that would indicate the root of the problem (the log is clean) - they send me another drive and then the case is closed until the issue rises again.I tried swapping the drives in slots but the problem is following the same drive no matter the slot. At this point, I’d like to exclude software-related cause of the issue.Currently, the number of errors associated with mounting and unmounting the drive is way over its threshold; that might be the reason why CV is ignoring the drive completely - how can I reset the counter?
