I’ve been asked to perform a test restore of a production virtual server.  Obviously we can’t have two servers with the same name and IP address running at the same time.  Does CommVault have any documentation on how to restore a virtual server (VMware in this case), then rename and re-IP the server so it can be started up?I’ve been a client for more than 10 years and still use the Java GUI so directions using that interface would be appreciated.Ken

Good day all I have a customer who is using Xtrabackup as the option to backup/recover MySQL DB’s. The source version is V8.0.29-21 and he’s restoring to a client with V8.0.33-25.In the restore process, we see an error that says that ‘there is nothing to restore - subclient(s) not backed up.The subclient is backed up, so was wondering if this is due to the different versions of MySQL in the job configuration?

Hi!In Subclient properties → Log Backup →  options: "Archive Delete" ,"Archive Delete All" are unchecked but in Oracle Backup Log I have:(archivelog like ‘…….’ delete input)In Schedules →  Advanced Backup Options → Delete archive Logs tab - Delete Archive Log option is also unchecked Where can i disable this option? RMAN version 19.17.0.0.0CV version 11.28.70

i am trying to create package for laptop by following the below link but am not able to find the option  Go to the Cloud Services website. On the top of the page, click menu > PACKAGE CREATOR. HiWe have endpoint backup around 300 clients, backup is working over the LAN if user in office and  notebook connected to office LAN, but when user is outside of office and notebook connected on internet backup is not working. We want to configured endpoint user backup over internet as well, are are requirements and configuration  Thanks

I have a Windows server configured as a VM running on VMware, this server has a LUN attached with iSCSI with a file system that is NOT a virtual disk. Am I correct in saying to back this up I need to use a Full Agent such as a Hardware agent? Currently as configured the only backups I am seeing are the Virtual disks associated with this server such as the startup disk.

Hello Team,We have recently configured Exchange and File level backup using block-level option.Our clarification that the indexing information (disk space) will keep on Media agent or client side.I hope the first backup will use full indexing and next backup will use only meta data of indexing, Is it correct? Is it File-level block will reduce scanning of backup time window?Is it good to enable block-level for exchange granular level recovery or any other option will use it? One more clarification that where will change the Exchange rights access account on CommCell coonsole in client level. While agent installation we have used minimum level rights account. For backup & restore will use respective Exchange permission account. Please advise.

I am going going through a security audit and I have been asked to participate in documenting a threat model for the Commvault deployment. I need some help documenting the  order of events when a backup is initiated  and which entity is initiator and responder in the process.  I am having trouble finding this in the documentation. Hoping someone can point me to the documents, or has insight into the sequence of events in a backup.I need to document Agent based and VSA  snapshots  Thanks   

all my back up jobs are failed and load showing DDB 100% we had some space issue on the DDB drive which is fixed , after that we are facing issue, also we started aux copy to metallic

Hello, TeamI have a customer who is writing directly to the tape library with any dedupe in place. Their challenge is, for their LTO8 and LTO6, the data writing to tape is making use of the native capacity instead of the compressed capacity.  They have the hardware compression enabled on each of their storage policy and they confirmed that before moving to commvault, their previous backup solution makes use of the compressed capacity when writing data. Is there any settings that can be done on commvault to ensure that the data is compressed so it can write full capacity of the data?Please, advise

we have done a hardware refresh , and planned to keep the old MA and Library unitl the retention period ,we have our tape library connected to Old Media agent and aux copies are configured on it,  i would like to know the best approach to move the tape library to new MA all the current job to tape library are finished, can anyone help me with stepsputt media agent to mainantance modereconnect tape library to new MAscan the library using new MAthat is enough ?

Good day Community,I have a customer with an All-in-one server CommServe/MediaAgent. We want to split the MediaAgent in a second instance (Instance002). But the MediaAgent is also used to index Exchange Online backups. It therefore has the IndexStore component installed and has existing indexes.Is there a procedure to migrate the MediaAgent AND IndexStore component? Probably a hardware refresh procedure for the IndexStore.Thanks in advance for you help.

Greetings all,I’m the DBA and not the commvault admin.  We have access to view our backup logs across the board with zero issues, but we are getting a permission denied when trying to view logs from our restore operations.  We absolutely need the latter.  Our commvault admins aren’t sure where to check.What permission might we be missing and where to check?Thanks! - Chris

We are in the process of replacing a tape library with another. How many tape libraries can be configured on a mediaagent? We would like to have both attached at the same time for a transition period. The old one has LTO6 drives and the new one has LTO9 drives.

we are having issue with our backups with the cluster config while running the backup on the client gettig below errorthe jobs kept on going to pending state when we tried to run one of the node we got below error , we have checked the telnet connection from cleint to MA 8403 and its working  

Most of the Commvault implementations we perform are making use of ‘Network Gateways’ / ‘Proxies’.To make it my life a bit easier, I’m using the ‘Network Gateway Appliance’ which can be downloaded on cloud.commvault.com. But the appliance is also CentOS7 based which is giving me more and more hassle.… as it’s approaching EOL.Are there any plans to renew the appliance ? Perhaps based on an Oracle Linux edition (such as the FREL appliance) ?I’m aware that the gateway / proxy is just a component and that I can install virtually any OS to function as a proxy. Hi everyone.We are facing a Commvault Backup implementation of a VMware Environment over Nutanix Cluster. Our initial idea is to perform NAS Transport Mode or HotAdd mode so as to avoid NBD and get more backup performance.On Commvault side we see that it’s fully soported (we treat this kind of Backup as it was a regular VMware deployment at Commvault level).The thing is that we have found on a Nutanix Document (attached) that it’s a Best Practice to implement NBD backups once protecting VMware VMs with Streaming mode, as you can see in the capture below:  We suppose “that performance issues” refer to too much I/O on Distrubuted DataStore of NTX environment. We have checkd on other environments that HotADD mode works and “apparently” no impact has been seen. Does anyone has faced a simi
