The problem I have is that my PostgresSQL log backups are not aging off my primary storage, even after being copied to secondary storage. Instead of manually deleting the log file jobs from primary storage I would like an automated way to do this.The log backups are being retained by “required by data”. The log backups are going to a different storage policy “Data_Prod1” and the log backups to “Data_Prod3”   

Hello, Our database administrators have requested that the ArchiveLogs for the last 5 days remain on the client. So we have tried to set this via Commvault. The result was that the Archive Log backup, which normally only takes up 30 to 40 GB on the backup storage, has now grown to 400 GB. Can I set up the backup in Commvault so that only the archive logs that Commvault does not yet have are backed up, but then they are not deleted for a period of 5 days?RegardsThomas

Hello everyone, I am currently trying to create new packages for clients and would need to set certain parameters for this when creating them. Unfortunately, this time the checkbox for saving the parameters is grayed out. (See attachment.) Can someone enlighten me why this is the case ? Everything worked for the Linux agents. Now here with the Windows agents I have encountered this problem. 

Hey Guys! Talking about high performance FC frontend storage. What happened to Hedvig? Is Hedvig now usable as front end storage over infiband? Can i get those high performance storage values with hedvig and use the combination of commvault, commvault DDB? I like the idea that the block, which i already have in my repository, can be “deleted”. In my world of expecation, i would see a HCI by CommVault, providing Backup Solutions, DR, and Frontend Data analyltics, archiving, optimization.  But when i read the latest marketing slides, hedvig is off the grid. I like the idea of a fast storage from the backup side, as we already have all your data and all the insights. But what are the current problems with hedvig? Why didn*t got that foucs from the sales side as other features? And why did commvault aquire hedvig? Because of…?

Hello, We have some auxiliary copy jobs configured that run just once a week copyng only the full backp-us to tape All seems working ok but be received this alarm attached and to be honest,we don't really fully understand it…Can you kindly tell us why do you consider thta we have this behavior Thank you

Hi there! Since we changed the deduplication setting from 'on Client' to 'on Media Agent' for Virtual Server Backups, we have noticed a significant increase in backup speed, roughly three times faster. I have a few questions to clarify this topic. Firstly, does 'deduplication on Client' refer to deduplication on the Virtual Server Agent (proxy), even when using SAN mode? In SAN mode, the data should be sent directly from one datastore (storage array) to another without involvement from other backup devices, correct? Similarly, for NDMP backups, where does the 'deduplication on Client' occur? I found a useful thread discussing this topic (see below), but I would appreciate explicit answers to my questions." 

Hi,I’m checking some way to collect the version of the installed agents in a win/linux client running some command on the client itself.So far I couldn’t find any way to poll that information from the client itself (while it’s extremely easy to do it from commcell console) but I’m sure there must be at least a configuration file/registry key reporting the exact version of every agent installed in a client, but I can’t find out which one. Do you know if that’s possible?Thanks,Alessandro.

Greetings,We have migrated our user base over to utilizing the Command Center for performing restore tasks. As this is the case we are looking for a way to redirect the URL for the web console to the admin console. Thus far we have only been able to find ways to restrict access to the web console but not to redirect access. I have reviewed the documentation but have not had any luck in locating anything that will do what we need to do. Has anyone accomplished this in your own environment, if so how did you go about this. Thanks,-CEH 

Hello Commvault Community, We had a scenario where one of the (properly) backed up VMs was migrated to another DataCenter using the Zerto tool, then migrated again to the original DataCenter and stopped working properly. The VM named XYZ has been moved from the production DataCenter2 (ABC2) to the second (failover/backup) DataCenter1 (ABC1). The Zerto tool was used for this type of switching. The machine disappears from DC2 and appears in DC1 - the backup should be done, because we have everything prepared on the tags (Tags are configured at the subclient level), and the Zerto tool transfers all  tags. In both DCs we have separate MediaAgents (DDBs, Indexes on them) and other repositories (other arrays) The problem is that the virtual machine [XYZ] in DC1 during about a week of stay did not perform a backup according to the schedule until it had Full configured (started according to schedule). Like we swi

HI all, Has anyone seen this?I have a VSA (failed VMs only) job that is Completed in the Job Controller, but it just stays there.In Events it shows the same message every 10 mins; “Failed to create job history for job [xxxx]. The job will be retried.I’ve tried recycling the services (and the SQL services) on the CS and running a DBMaint with no success. 

I checked the start time for VM backup, and it was one day earlier than scheduled time.On the backup job history, it is showing me the exact schedule time but if i go the VM machine status the backup start time showing me one day earlier. Attached the snap for reference. 

Hello Team,Please help, I’m planning to migrate MA (windows) with following steps.1.Launch new server with installing MA software. and assigning same hostname ,new IP address.2.Detach all mount path drives and DDB drives, attach the same in new server3.Disconnect old server from the network.4.check all services and process running on new MA5.Map the respective LUNs, ( DDBs, Index Cache, Library) also make sure you are using the same drive letters while moving the contents on new server. Is this method good to move forward , if any other steps please suggest.  Regards,Samuel    

Hi,I have set the retention settings of the storage policy as 1 day and 0 cycle.Took a backup of the VM client into the HCP S3 Based object storage.Post retention expiry, the data aging job should delete off the data from HCP and HCP-CS cloud libraries.But the data (chunk folders and chunks) still resides on the HCP buckets and the deletion is not happening. Any suggestions please.

Hi all, Before I raise a ticket, trying to reproduce it, I want to check here if someone ever experienced the same.This is the case back-up data is save on 3 copies Primary (disk) → Synchronous (disk)→ Selective (tape)The Synchronous job is used as as source for the tape copy.The Synchronous copy has the option “Pick data from running job” enables (well had)This was disabled as we saw that the Selective copy also started to copy the data that still was being copied to the Synchronous copy (job-ids had the status partially copied). This is strange, because that option is not there in the SPc.And you do not want this, because the fact data is going to tape but more important, the jobs should be become marked as “With errors” in de Synchronous copy and therefor not copied but instead the next job closed to the selective rules. Did anyone ever experienced the same and knows the reason/solution? Thanks,

Hello, We have backup server CommServe  Simpana version 11.28.68 on Windows Server 2022 Standard. We migrated recently backup server Commserve on new hardware using Hardware refresh method (we migrated from simpana version 11.20.85 to simpana version 11.28.68). We used CSrecovery tool and successfully restored and upgraded the database. Now, We have problem with Browse and Restore all virtual machine (Citrix XenServer ).When we choose Browse and Restore Options dialog box-> Guest Files and Folders -> View ContentWe get this messages on screen:MsgId[0x0e000105][Browse failed due to error while mounting virtual machine: Client htm-mediaagent1 can not attach service in 10.16.18.56*ca-lma01*8400*8402. i checked the links to configure Bonded Topology With 1 GbE Management Network for HyperScale X Reference Architecture but i can see the bond network type still selected as commserv registration ,  can someone explain if our data backup network is non routable network how is going to register it with commserv, or commserv registration will happen via management netwrok only?

We have a two-node SQL-Cluster with 10 SQL-Instances, load-balanced over the nodes.Currently we fail to set up the backup. Only the instances running on node A are passing the backup successful. Instances on node B are failing with the following error:[30:332] Description: Unable to get the SQL Version for the serverinstalled and check cv-software von slqcn1 and sqlcn2 added a windows-cluster in commvault and added sqlcn1 an sqlcn2 to this cluster added all sql-instances to this windows clusterIs this correct or do we have to create one cluster for each sql-instance in cv-software?
