I am testing commvaults connection to Wasabi.My Wasabi test bucket is object locked, so Commvault can’t delete older data. To test a loss of commvault database I didn’t configure my commvault jobs to be worm protected.Consequentially, I was able to delete some jobs, although the data in the Wasabi bucket remains.I can’t seem to find the option in Commvault to scan the bucket for existing backups to reimport.Is this not available?

Hi, good morning.I did install Commvault Version 11.28.70 .Meantime on my Vcenter infrastructure I did create and install one Appliance Quantum VTL DXi 5000 Community Edition (this appliance it did develope on CentOS O.S.)Both servers are on the same network, I can ping the vtl without problems.I would like to know how can I make for connect/configure the VTL on my Commvault Environment.I did try without success to configure the same on the Commvault COmmand Center with the produce : Storage/Disk/Add. ecc. I did insert the information of the server( user and password ) but when I try to insert the path (the vtl appliance it’s on CentOS O.S. ) I can’t configure correctly the path.THanks in advance.Best regardsRicardo

I have noticed any time I change the subclient of a VM I am backing up via VSA, the last backup on the old subclient gains the yearly extended retention. Is there any way I can prevent this in the future, and is there any way I can bulk resolve this for all the previous VM backups that have this problem

When running Auxcopies I can watch a job over a sustained period and the streams will gradually decrease. If however I kill the job and resubmit I can see double the amount of streams in the job. Can someone please explain how new streams are added to Auxcopy Jobs, and is there benefit in killing some long running jobs and restarting them.

Greetings! So we’re needing to boot the 1-touch ISO such that it sees a Cisco VIC using Fiber.  I’ve injected the network drivers for Server 2016/19/22 into the boot.wim of a 11.24 WinPE 5.1 1-Touch recovery image, but no avail - the fiber nics aren’t seen.  I’ll move to the Win10 disk and try that - but has anyone else had any luck seeing the VICs in Cisco UCS? Best wishes! Mike

Greetings! So, the instructions at:https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/60435_adding_windows_drivers_for_nic_and_mass_storage_devices.html… state how to add drivers to a WinPE5 disk, which is only windows 8 compatible.  We’re obviously working mostly with servers and (at least in my case), there are no Windows 8 drivers available.  I’ve seen another note where the PE10 drivers uses Windows 2019 (it’s on the 1-touch download page in the store).  However, when trying to add those drivers, the only way I can seen to find is off a system with the filesystem agent installed and apparently only works with the PE5 disk as such:

Hello,Dears all,I am trying to performe migration of physical linux machine to VMware virtual machine using the commvault. I am using the Virtualize me options, and for this operation i’ve enabled 1-touch recovery in the source machine and a sucessfully backup.For some reason after a successfully restore of System state backup, this error appears in the screen.  but these file initrd.img is a content of the defaultBackupSet  I’m using commvault version 11.24 and the machine use ubuntu 18 as operating system. Please help me to solve this issue.

I’m currently testing the automatic VM Validation Feature and so far it looks good.The only thing I’m wondering is if there’s an option to send a mail/report with the results of the validation.Since we could use this to automate VM Backup validations and as some “evidence” for auditing purposes, this would be incredibly helpful.In the Job Details in the Command Center it shows the different phases and whether or not it was successful, but I don’t want to have to check manually.Is that possible?

With a Tape Library of 8 Drives, I wanted to force the Tape Aux Copy  to a single Drive        This will be for only one Storage Policy XYZ (out of 30 or so SP’s)        and for only  a single Storage Policy Copy ABC (within SP XYZ) There are multiple Tape Storage Pools set up   eg POOL-N, POOL-O, POOL-P,   … POOL-X Storage Policy Copy ABC used POOL-XI had hoped that setting the Device streams to 1, but this still results in multiple drives being used  If I run a manual AUX Copy, for Storage Policy XYZ, for copy ABC and set the number of readers to 1, that works fine - as I’ve limited the stream to 1 ‘at the source’’, meaning there can never be more than 1 stream at the target - and therefore 1 tape used

Hi Commvault gurus! Since we changed the deduplication setting from 'on Client' to 'on Media Agent' for Virtual Server Backups, we have noticed a significant increase in backup speed, roughly three times faster. I have a few questions to clarify this topic. Firstly, does 'deduplication on Client' refer to deduplication on the Virtual Server Agent (proxy), even when using SAN mode? In SAN mode, the data should be sent directly from one datastore (storage array) to another without involvement from other backup devices, correct? Similarly, for NDMP backups, where does the 'deduplication on Client' occur? I found a useful thread discussing this topic (see below), but I would appreciate explicit answers to my questions." 

All, what is best practice for the SQL install when deploying CommServe? If I were deploying a high performance SQL installation I would typically put OS, SQL DB, SQL Logs, Temp DB all on separate disks (not partitions on same disk). Is this best practice, desirable or even do-able with CommServe?

HelloI have in place many Intellisnap backups and every backup (Netapp snapshot) is replicated onto a secondary Netapp with Snapvault.Now I must replace the current secondary Netapp with a new one maintaining all the current backups (snapshots) on the new secondary NetappWhat is the best approach ?RegardsFederico

 Hi Everyone, i am trying to understand when a backup copy job run what exactly it is doing  and if it slow down the network. My Snap copy for VM are slow they finish between one and three minutes but backup copy job are taking hours like 1 to 4 hours. i thought NETAPP take the snap first as NetApp reach out to the client get the snap and save it with itself than CV reach out to NetApp for the that snap to make a backup copy.When CV asked for backup copy from NetApp does NetApp reach out to the client again to grab the data?  etwork in my inviorment

When I try to add the Windows System as a laptop, the job fails with the error shown below.68:574 Required media version [11.30] with transaction Id [4859364] is missing in the Software Cache. Hi Guys,we’re running on Commvault 11.28.69Backup of VMs on a streched VSAN Cluster, where VSAs are deployed to both fault domains, enabling the use of hotadd transport mode in both locations.The backups are currently assigned to any available VSA, without honoring the fault domain. This creates additional WAN Traffic and also has an impact on backup performance.According to BOL this feature is available since 11.20New Features for Virtualization in 11.20 (commvault.com)I also defined bEnableClusterFaultDomainDispatch = true (should be default) on all VSA, but doesn’t lead to a proper VSA selection. Once the VM is not running on the same host as a VSA, any VSA is assigned.Are there any further settings to enable (or the other way a
