Hello, Recently we had to make a configuration with:1x CommServe1x MediaAgent2x StoreOnce Catalyst MediaAgent and the 2 StoreOnce are Connected through Fiber. Backups to the first StoreOnce Catalyst works fine without any errors but when we initiate Aux Copy from the First StoreOnce to the Second StoreOnce its say its fails due to Chunk errors. Any ideas about the Configuration we need to follow in order for the Aux Copy to succeed ?
Log4J vulnerability Commvault based on Nessus scan finding.Unsupported file version:D:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\WebConsole\WEB-INF\lib\log4j-over-slf4j-1.7.32.jar We have updated Commvault version to 11.28.68 and other unsupported files were updated/deleted but not this one. How can it be updated to newer/supported version?
We have a physical windows server 2012. we have to migrate from existing boot (C:\) disk to new disk. Hi,I have an AWS Aurora PostgreSQL v13.7 instance with many Databases, I can only run backup at max 3 streams (i.e. 3 DBs at a time) irrespective of the subclient/Storage Policy/etc. number of streams settings. Is it a Commvault or AWS/postgres limit? Is it possible to increase it?Thanks
hello everyone. From the process manager you can see that all the services are active, only the CommVault Workflow Engine service has not started. I can't start it from the Process Manager and neither manually from Windows Services. I already checked the permissions, ports, connections and everything is fine.Do you have any idea?
I am curious on who is running Commvault with a Linux Commserver. If you are what version Commvault are you running and how often are you having to upgrade/update?Thank you
I would like to rebuild/replace our current v11 (.28.56) Command Center server (virtualised), that is running the Commcell Console and Command Center, as it running on Windows 2012 R2, which is about to be EOL from Microsoft. Is there an easy to follow procedure to do this, as I could not find anything in the Knowledge Documentation website. Ideally, I would like to build the new command server with the existing one still running, to avoid interrupting current backups, and loss of databases/jobs, etc. Is this easy to do?I will worry about the physical media server separately when the time comes.P.S. I had hoped to do an in-place Operating system upgrade on the existing VM, but Windows 2016 refused the Keep Files/apps option, most likely because the current Console is running SQL 2008.
Hello,I need to understand following for customer requirement of backing up their Virtual Machines running on VMware Esxi on-premise datacenter, on to the AWS S3 storage:Does Commvault Backup and Recovery support backup of VM snapshots / images directly on S3?. If yes, Does it compress backup data before sending it to S3?. If not, than is there an option like AWS EBS or only file system level backup supported?. What is the normal compression ratio one can estimate upon enabling the compression?.Appreciate your help.RegardsPranav
Is there a easy way to query the count of waiting jobs similar to the Job Controller display? I am able to run the Jobs API request for each client but that takes a long time.
We would like to run a pre-backup script that freezes our IRIS database on a Red Hat EC2 instance, after the freeze is successful we would want to run an Intellisnap backup of that Red Hat EC2 instance and then once the backup completes, unfreeze the IRIS database. What is the best way to get Commvault to orchestrate this process ? Thanks
Good morning, I have a client that is requesting a “Certificate of Data Destruction.” Is there any such thing within Commvault or something similar?
Hi,I have quite strange situation, we’ve intalled simpana 9 on an HPUX 11, first we’ve installed the with a firewalled envirnonment and it didnt work (it seems simpana 9 doesn’t like the firewall config)after that we’ve reintalled the agent with the firewall disabled on the client but the commserve stills tries to connect through the port 8403.Attaching to beta2rp*beta2rp*8400*8402 using XDR failed. Hello all, I have seen that Salesforce can be used to run restorative tests in a sandbox. Since Salesforce is outside the Commvault world. So an external provider. I would be interested if there is also an integrated variant to perform a restore into a sandbox. RegardsThomas
I’m using subclient ID to add a VM to a subclient. I can’t find and example for this. Does this json template from here actually work? https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/49184_rest_api_post_subclient_properties.htmlI keep getting 400 Bad Requesthttps://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/assets/features/rest_api/JSON/update_subclient_vm_template.json{ "newName": "", "subClientProperties": { "vmContent": { }, "vsaSubclientProp": { "useChangedTrackingOnVM": , "quiesceGuestFileSystemAndApplications": , "datastoreFreespaceCheck": , "datastoreFreespaceRequired": , "collectFileDetailsForSnap": , "collectFileDetails": } }, "association": { "entity": [{ "clientName": "", "subclientName": "", "backupsetName": "", "instanceName": "", "appName": "Virtual Server" }] }}
Hi, good morning.I did install Commvault Version 11.28.70 .Meantime on my Vcenter infrastructure I did create and install one Appliance Quantum VTL DXi 5000 Community Edition (this appliance it did develope on CentOS O.S.)Both servers are on the same network, I can ping the vtl without problems.I would like to know how can I make for connect/configure the VTL on my Commvault Environment.I did try without success to configure the same on the Commvault COmmand Center with the produce : Storage/Disk/Add. ecc. I did insert the information of the server( user and password ) but when I try to insert the path (the vtl appliance it’s on CentOS O.S. ) I can’t configure correctly the path.THanks in advance.Best regardsRicardo
I have noticed any time I change the subclient of a VM I am backing up via VSA, the last backup on the old subclient gains the yearly extended retention. Is there any way I can prevent this in the future, and is there any way I can bulk resolve this for all the previous VM backups that have this problem
When running Auxcopies I can watch a job over a sustained period and the streams will gradually decrease. If however I kill the job and resubmit I can see double the amount of streams in the job. Can someone please explain how new streams are added to Auxcopy Jobs, and is there benefit in killing some long running jobs and restarting them.
Greetings! So, the instructions at:https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/60435_adding_windows_drivers_for_nic_and_mass_storage_devices.html… state how to add drivers to a WinPE5 disk, which is only windows 8 compatible. We’re obviously working mostly with servers and (at least in my case), there are no Windows 8 drivers available. I’ve seen another note where the PE10 drivers uses Windows 2019 (it’s on the 1-touch download page in the store). However, when trying to add those drivers, the only way I can seen to find is off a system with the filesystem agent installed and apparently only works with the PE5 disk as such:Where is the method to install updated drivers to PE10, if any? I seem to have run into a disconnect here. =)Thank you for any help anyone can provide.
Hello,Dears all,I am trying to performe migration of physical linux machine to VMware virtual machine using the commvault. I am using the Virtualize me options, and for this operation i’ve enabled 1-touch recovery in the source machine and a sucessfully backup. For some reason after a successfully restore of System state backup, this error appears in the screen. but these file initrd.img is a content of the defaultBackupSet I’m using commvault version 11.24 and the machine use ubuntu 18 as operating system. Please help me to solve this issue.
I’m currently testing the automatic VM Validation Feature and so far it looks good. The only thing I’m wondering is if there’s an option to send a mail/report with the results of the validation.Since we could use this to automate VM Backup validations and as some “evidence” for auditing purposes, this would be incredibly helpful. In the Job Details in the Command Center it shows the different phases and whether or not it was successful, but I don’t want to have to check manually. Is that possible?
Hi Commvault gurus! Since we changed the deduplication setting from 'on Client' to 'on Media Agent' for Virtual Server Backups, we have noticed a significant increase in backup speed, roughly three times faster. I have a few questions to clarify this topic. Firstly, does 'deduplication on Client' refer to deduplication on the Virtual Server Agent (proxy), even when using SAN mode? In SAN mode, the data should be sent directly from one datastore (storage array) to another without involvement from other backup devices, correct? Similarly, for NDMP backups, where does the 'deduplication on Client' occur? I found a useful thread discussing this topic (see below), but I would appreciate explicit answers to my questions."
All, what is best practice for the SQL install when deploying CommServe? If I were deploying a high performance SQL installation I would typically put OS, SQL DB, SQL Logs, Temp DB all on separate disks (not partitions on same disk). Is this best practice, desirable or even do-able with CommServe?
HelloI have in place many Intellisnap backups and every backup (Netapp snapshot) is replicated onto a secondary Netapp with Snapvault. Now I must replace the current secondary Netapp with a new one maintaining all the current backups (snapshots) on the new secondary NetappWhat is the best approach ?RegardsFederico
Hi,Currently we are running an M365 backup job using Azure Active directory and it is stuck at 84% since last 3 days. The status is showing as running. We are unable to figure out why its stuck here for so long? Any thoughts?
Where are teams meetings stored when backed up? Are these even backed up?
