wolud like to know regarding the commvault complete backup and recovery product line. 

 Hi Everyone, i am trying to understand when a backup copy job run what exactly it is doing  and if it slow down the network. My Snap copy for VM are slow they finish between one and three minutes but backup copy job are taking hours like 1 to 4 hours. i thought NETAPP take the snap first as NetApp reach out to the client get the snap and save it with itself than CV reach out to NetApp for the that snap to make a backup copy.When CV asked for backup copy from NetApp does NetApp reach out to the client again to grab the data?  etwork in my inviorment

Hello, In my configuration, the CommServer and a Windows System are both members of a domain. When I try to add the Windows System as a laptop, the job fails with the error shown below.68:574 Required media version [11.30] with transaction Id [4859364] is missing in the Software Cache. CommServe may be installed with a lower version media. Please check the media in Software Cache and try updating the CommServe before updating clients.Source: win-c7k6li9lpl7, Process: DistributeSoftware I looked into the software cache on the CommServer but couldn't find anything. I need some assistance here.  CommServer Version : 11.30.43  [Hitachi Data Protection Suite]

Hi,we backup our Exchange 2016 server with virtual server agent (vSphere, full VM backup) and with Exchange database agent.When i backup data from Exchange database agent to a WORM tape is it possible to restore single items?Or only the complete database?RegardsDennis 

Hi Guys,we’re running on Commvault 11.28.69Backup of VMs on a streched VSAN Cluster, where VSAs are deployed to both fault domains, enabling the use of hotadd transport mode in both locations.The backups are currently assigned to any available VSA, without honoring the fault domain. This creates additional WAN Traffic and also has an impact on backup performance.According to BOL this feature is available since 11.20New Features for Virtualization in 11.20 (commvault.com)I also defined bEnableClusterFaultDomainDispatch = true (should be default) on all VSA, but doesn’t lead to a proper VSA selection. Once the VM is not running on the same host as a VSA, any VSA is assigned.Are there any further settings to enable (or the other way arround to disabled) that lead to a propper asignment of VMs to VSA ?As a workaround, I now assigned the usable/wanted VSA now to each virtualization client’s subclient instead of the instance only. Hi,The storage we created for the backup copy is running out of space. We shortened the retention period, but it didn't clean, now we get an error and we don't copy our backups.Can we connect and check each other? Thanks

We currently have Virtual Machines replicating with Live Sync, Full is executed and then incremental, my question is, is there a way to prioritize that the Full backups are copied first and then the incremental ones, we see that it does not replicate the full VMs first, if not It seems that it prioritizes smaller VMs.

Hi All,we have to backup a large number of VM on Xenserver.I created Windows proxy and added it as access node. i was able to backup windows & linux Vm with this.but when I went for Guest file level restore then it was asking for FREL enable ( for both Linux & Windows)Then i added another VM in same host with linux os and enabled it for FREL with media agent role and then Guest level restore worked for both.Now, I want to use only Linux VM as proxy and want to get rid of Windows at all, Can i do this?I do not see any option to add non-widows Proxy as access node in xen pseudo  client in commvault.Does it means , i will have to keep one windows VM as proxy for backup & one linux VM for FREL? it would be great wastage  of resources . please confirm and suggest any workaround.

Hi All,we are configuring CommVault for the first time to take backup of Mailboxes using Azure Active Directory. The authentication is successful however we are still getting the error “Insufficient privileges to complete the operation. ErrorCode: Authorization_RequestDenied”.The Service account is a Global Admin account, unable to identify the root cause. It seems there is Authorization issue however all required permissions granted to the application.

We recently have implemented Commvault backup for MS SQL servers. Most of the backups are using the default subclient.However, I have run across some reading previously that for big and/or critical database like 1 TB in size, it would be good idea to create additional subclient. I think something if backup fails, it has something to do with restart all databases again? Is that correct? Can someone shed some lights on this?Let’s say I have 30 databases in a server, if one fails backup, the other 29 needs to be rerun from the start?Please adviseThanks

Hi Team, i am just wondering what this setting will excactly do as there is nothing mentioned in the Documentation.If disabled will there only be the Metadata Updated in the Filesystem.?Not like if enabled the data will be read from Library and written again to Library as a Data Verification. Maybe someone can confirm or deny. thanks

 Hi teamI have installed DAG Exchange 2019 servers on Vmware virtaul machines. Is it possible to use intellisnap functionality in this setup to backup (snap) exchange databases ? I have checked that VMware VM image backup and also Exchange database agent are supported for intellisnap and all requrements (separatelly) are met.But what if Exchange DAG is installed on Vmware environment ?I would not use “application aware” backup because of limited functionality of databse backup in that case. I want to use Exchange Database Agent backup fully configured inside DAG servers and runing beside of vm image backups.Thanks for all advices.

Hi Community,We have a use case for single instance InfluxDB servers that will reside on VMs on-prem, with the possibility of including the software clustered on-prem also in the future.As far as I can tell there is no information to backup InfluxDB that I can find in our CMV DOCS or on this Community forum, does anyone use this and have some good recommendation.The influxDB comes with backup and recovery tool sets, so I would imagine using the tools to create backups and ingesting the folders into Commvault via file backups frequently might only the be the case  here, and couple that with a VM backup of the OS vDisk.Anyone lese have a view or working scenarios with decent RPO?Thx for any replies

We have a CommServe and Media Agent on a same windows server. Just we want install another CommServe in same environment to configure automatic HA. If the active CommServe failed or any disaster, then another CommServe will takeover automatically.How can we configure the automatic HA along with CommServe and also Media Agent?
