Hello!Could you say pleas, if is it possible to export/import some backup from commvault? So that I could use it later without source commvault, by importing backup it to different commvault environment or using some native restore tools of restored application. 

Hi,I have a question regarding the Graph API permissions for the Azure application that needs to be configured.It’s related to this topic:Azure Application API Permissions for M365 Services | Community (commvault.com) Why is it necessary for Commvault to retrieve user list and licenses? And assign the application Directory.Read.All permission?  During my testing, I managed to run a backup from a SharePoint Online site without this permission assigned. However, when attempting to restore back to the SharePoint Online site, it fails. In the Azure Storage account, I can see some items appearing under the container during the restore, but they are deleted after a short while. In the log from the Commvault application server I see the following error message:

The auditors want to see if my backups are encrypted and I’m not sure where to go in the CommVault GUI to show that.  I don’t see anything about encryption in the properties for my storage libraries or my storage policies.  Where do I show whether or not my backups are encrypted?Ken

Hi,Trying to find out the directory structure that Commvault creates in S3 Compatible cloud Storage.I created a VM backup from VMware and got the below Directory in S3 Compatible : Does V_1​ , V_11 mean different backup attempts? What is the difference between the below folder structure?​​​​​​Is it something configurable from Commvault Software?

I have a library with 2x LTO drives that is used for some direct to tape jobs and for aux copies of some disk jobs.Ideally what I’d like is for both LTO drives to be free to aux copy data but if another job runs that needs a drive for the aux copy to throttle back down to using one drive.So for example right now I have 50TB of data to aux copy that is going to a single drive when it could go to both drives (I’ve got them so why not use them) except if I set the aux copy to do that it seems that any new backup jobs to tape pause with “no resources available”.Thanks 😀

Hello team, Customer asks if we can encrypt network traffic when communicates in a commcell.customer doesn’t want to encrypt the backup data but configure to be encrypted for all traffic/packet among tiers. (CS, MA, client) for instancewhen try to do a push installation from CS to client.when request some tasks like backup, restore job. They need to encrypt all the packet due to security requirement.I searched and reviewed these BOLs but not sure if it will work for this customer.Could you happen to give me any advice? Encrypting Network Traffic at CommCell Level (commvault.com)

I have a customer that has some types of  auxiliary copies to cloud one is virtual machines and the second is logs He want to see how much virtual machines backup to cloud and what is the retention of the auxiliary copy to cloud He does not want to see all the clients in the report.

Hi Group, I’m hoping someone can help me out. We are trying to develop a script that can be ran on a client which will use a find command for specific files to create a list to be backed up and restored on another client using CLI or the cvc command. We are new to Commvault and were able to do this with TSM’s dsmc command.Any help or examples would be much appreciated. Thank you

hello,I need to restore windows vm’s from hyper-v to vcenter vmware . I use this article https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/114427_converting_to_vmware.htmlThe restore complete successfully without errors. But when the server is booting up it direct to something like recover mode. At the end of this article it’s written  For converted Windows VMs, disks might be offline. You can bring the disks online manually. How do I Bring disk system online?       

Is an option within CommVault to update the description or note fields on the source host platform (VMWare/Azure) when a backup is performed/successful through alert notifications ?

Hello allWe don’t currently back up our entire VM estate due to licence/cost limitations. We’re on a capacity licence and nearly at the limit so it’s buying time. I’ve been asked to work out how much capacity licence we would need to add to be able to back up all our VMs (from this we can somewhat factor in growth rates). Does Commvault provide a report or sizing tool to be able to see this easily? I can see what we’re currently using licence wise, and I can see all my unprotected (excluded) VMs under virtualization, but not how to easily put these together. if I did have to do this manually I’d be looking at the VM size wouldn’t I for the front end size?Would my reseller have a sizing tool maybe? Or can mere mortals get that too?!Thanks for any and all help.

I am preparing a ddb for retirement. There are no jobs associated with it and I have run a space reclamation at the highest level with Clean Orphan data set. Why am I still seeing values in Total Number Of Unique Blocks?  

Currently our client is using the built-in KMS server which stores encryption keys in the Commvault Database. As far as I can find, there is no way to extract these keys.We are looking to transition to Azure Key Vault for storing these keys. It is very easy to change the KMS server, but in theory this would leave us unable to access the previous backups as we technically do not have access to those keys for decryption.I have searched this extensively and there is no documentation for this (confirmed via Commvault support phone call). What is the proper process for changing the KMS server on a backup location, particularly the built-in KMS server over to a third-party, without losing access to backups? I did find 1 forum post stating this “just works”, but I need to provide some kind of concrete answer for my higher-ups to be happy. Thank you in advance!

Stuck trying to get SAML SSO sorted in a test environment before moving into Prod.  Followed the procedure at Using Active Directory Federation Services as Your Identity Provider (commvault.com) and SSO for Command Center or Web Console works fine on every other machine bar the CommServe box hosting the webserver. It just prompts the authentication box 2 times before defaulting to non SSO.Non SSO logins via domain creds work fine. CommCell browser DOES work fine using SSO on the web server box! It’s just browser access. Using LiveSync and failing over to the secondary CommServe results in the problem moving with web access restored on the previous primary server. I have a storage policy for one shot backups to Tape.The tape robot being used doesn’t have a lot of free tapes, and our other robot has a lot more free tapes.So I am trying to make a secondary copy to transfer all that data to the other DC and to then promote the secondary copy to primary.The transfer of data works, but the option to promote is greyed out.When trying with the promotetoprimary.xml, it gives me this error:A copy Dependent on a Global Secondary Copy Policy cannot be promoted to a Primary Copy. I don’t understand what this means.I also don’t know how to resolve this.  

Hey there,I need your awesome help with something really important. So, I've got these 5 jobs, each about 5TB in total, chilling on a StoreOnce 5100, and I gotta move 'em to a new StoreOnce 5660.I tried making an auxiliary copy to do the move, but dang, it's been a bummer. The job just won't budge and keeps throwing errors. Oh, and guess what? These jobs belong to a server that's no longer backed up. Yikes! But hey, we can't lose all that data, so we gotta figure out how to move it over to the StoreOnce 5660 like a boss.I'm hoping you can be our hero and show us the way to get this migration done safely and efficiently. The problem I have is that my PostgresSQL log backups are not aging off my primary storage, even after being copied to secondary storage. Instead of manually deleting the log file jobs from primary storage I would like an automated way to do this.The log backups are being retained by “required by data”. The log backups are going to a different storage policy “Data_Prod1” and the log backups to “Data_Prod3”   

Hello, Our database administrators have requested that the ArchiveLogs for the last 5 days remain on the client. So we have tried to set this via Commvault. The result was that the Archive Log backup, which normally only takes up 30 to 40 GB on the backup storage, has now grown to 400 GB. Can I set up the backup in Commvault so that only the archive logs that Commvault does not yet have are backed up, but then they are not deleted for a period of 5 days?RegardsThomas

Hello everyone, I am currently trying to create new packages for clients and would need to set certain parameters for this when creating them. Unfortunately, this time the checkbox for saving the parameters is grayed out. (See attachment.) Can someone enlighten me why this is the case ? Everything worked for the Linux agents. Now here with the Windows agents I have encountered this problem. 

Hey Guys! Talking about high performance FC frontend storage. What happened to Hedvig? Is Hedvig now usable as front end storage over infiband? Can i get those high performance storage values with hedvig and use the combination of commvault, commvault DDB? I like the idea that the block, which i already have in my repository, can be “deleted”. In my world of expecation, i would see a HCI by CommVault, providing Backup Solutions, DR, and Frontend Data analyltics, archiving, optimization.  But when i read the latest marketing slides, hedvig is off the grid. I like the idea of a fast storage from the backup side, as we already have all your data and all the insights. But what are the current problems with hedvig? Why didn*t got that foucs from the sales side as other features? And why did commvault aquire hedvig? Because of…?
