As part of my normal housekeeping, I keep a close eye on my DDB’s. I’ve learned enough lessons over the years to look closely at pending delete records, run regular DDB verifications, and purge orphan files.Recently we have had two separate issues where physical pruning of data was not occurring on the physical Storage.The first was a corruption of Storage Permissions on our Isilon that prevent physical pruning.The second was related to corrupt records in the DDB that prevented physical pruning.In both cases the DDB looked healthy. None of the regular indicators such as a high “Number of Pending Prunable  Records” showed a problem. The graphs showed significant drops in Primary and Secondary Blocks.Both these problems had been there for a long period of time and were only detected because we were looking for an anomaly. In the second case  we were fortunate that we were carry out bulk deletes and some activity occurred that would not have happened

We want to double check how our commserve is set up - specifically, where its Microsoft SQL database is. Where can we find this information?

Hello! Im looking for a way to Aux copy (via selective copy)? only for specific jobs.For example: only a full VM job.I know that I can “filter” aux copies for All Fulls, Daily Fulls, Monthly Fulls etc, but I need actually to aux copy only for specific jobs!The source copy is a Disk and the destination is a Blob Storage.Is there any way to do it?I see an option to “Do not Automatically select jobs”, but Im not sure how it works. 

When I do a Browse and Restore, I’m getting the message “Folder size shown is approximate.  Please select Compute folder size option from browse options for accurate size”.Can anyone tell me how to navigate to this option?  I don’t see in anywhere within the Control Panel.ThanksKen

It is mentioned in the document that there is setting called ‘forceDelete’ - does anybody know how to use it in the actual API call? I’ve tried to add it in the URL itself, in the headers, in the payload. Does not work.

Hello,I’m looking for a way to set a timeout for PreBackup and PostBackup process.My expectation was a default timeout of 600 seconds. Therefore I created a batch script which has a wait of 700 seconds included. Commvault was patiently waiting for the script to finish, but I would like to have a timeout after which Commvault fails the job.Does anybody know a way to set such a timeout? I could not find any hint on this and also no additional setting.

Good Day,we recently migrated a bunch of Backupjobs from primary Copy to Secondary-Copy (Tape) and deleted the jobs in the primary Copy.Due to a demand from the project, we need the copied backup jobs back in the primary pool.Unfortunately I am not able to select the storagepool in a thirdcopy in the storagepolicy → create new copy.Is there a way to migrate the jobs back?Best regards

Hi! Wondering if it is possible to have a remote Commserve used in a Livesync configuation communicate back to the initial Commserve via a deployed Network Gateway or Network Proxy Appliance? All agents, media agents at site will use the Network Gateway but is it possible for the remote Commserve to communicate through it as well? 

2 related questions -If a drive dies on one of the nodes in my RA setup, and that capacity drive is no longer available but a larger one is, can I replace the drive with the larger capacity one and the system operate with perhaps using a fraction of the capacity?  e.g. a 8TB drive dies, could I replace it with a 12TB drive (& perhaps the system just use 8TB of that space)? I want to add an additional node, but the new nodes are only available with larger capacity drives.  Can I do that, and if Yes then will it use a subset of the capacity so the usable is the same as the existing nodes?Thanks.

i know that we are currently using OpenJDK for opening the commcell in new installations.but seeing as Oracle is changing their license model, we have been getting qeustions.is this something that will automatically/changed be updated during a new update?or will customers with an old installation need to manually remove and re-install the Commcell? thank you,  kind Regards, Thos Gieskes.

Hi team,I need a recommendation for our vmware backups.Our situation is as follows;Definition 1: With DefaultBackupSet, we back up approximately 1000 VMs with a large number of subclients every day with incr and on weekends with Synthetic Full.Definition 2: With another BackupSet, we are backing up VMs with 1 tag in Vcenter every Friday. There are about 2500 VMs. Jobs work as incr on Friday, we can't run full because backup takes too long. We shorten the time by taking incr and Synthetic Full works after the subclient is finished.Both types of backup are done with NBD, not suitable for our SAN and Hot-add environment.We use 10 virtual proxies in total.Since backups working with Definition 2 start incr, if it has a new VM tag, it automatically converts to Full. If there is a VM backed up with both definitions, it continues as Incr.Now the config made here may be wrong, but I need this, what do you recommend?- As in Definiti

Hello We are planning an Commvault upgrade from FR11.24.xx to FR11.28.5X. We still have a lot of 2012 servers and SQL2012 servers. Wat would be better? Let the agent on win 2012 on FR11.24.9x,  or upgrade the clients to 11.26.xx.Commvault 11.26.xx is the last Commvault version that supports Windwos 2012 and SQL2012.  If we use additional setting we could upgrade the client to FR11.26.xx  Thanks in advance!

Hello Good morning,please help, I have a backup of a Hyper-V with Job Id 30030 which backs up about 100 Virtual machines, according to the images attached, I just need to copy the VM Job 30084 (only one machine of the 100), from disk or tape to another tape completely with a different retention this from the console and not from the command center, because according to customer requirements are not used plans. this is the backup job of the hyper-v with the 100 machines 👇 and this is the VM job 30084 from the copy of the virtual machine that I need to send to a completely different tape  👇

Hi Team,we have a MA, which has four mount points all comes from backend SAN. out of four, one mount points are showing error while writing the data. i checked the disk management, disk was showing as read only than i have rebooted the MA and made the disk read/write. created test folder on the disk which working fine. but when i run the storage validation, it gives below error. did anyone had these kind of issue ? 7944  173c  09/09 10:20:44 685427 Scheduler  Set pending cause [Failed to mount the disk media in library [LIB05] with mount path [C:\CommVaulttLibrary\503] on MediaAgent [cv5]. Hi,We have the following environment:Commserve 11.28 on W2K22 3 Physical Media Agents (MA) on W2K22 Each physical MA has its own DDB partition disk (D:\) and its own Disk library volume (G:\) → there is no sharing of the disks between the physical MA The DDB has 3 partitions: one on each physical MA One disk library with 3 mounth paths (one per MA) but each MA has its own disk library volume not sharedBackups are going well but we have issues with “DDB Verification” operation.The error messages are the following:“Error Code: [62:2687] Description: Export / Mount failed for mount path [G:/dl_ssd_aalst/CV_MAGNETIC], please check if the mount path is accessible on Data Server [appwbck003]. Check the logs for detailed error. Source: appwbck002, Process: ScalableDDBVerf  Library [dl_ssd_aalst], MediaAgent [appwbck002], Drive Pool [], MountPath[\dl_ssd_aalst]: Moun
