AWS Virtual Server Backup Questions

Does Commvault always need to create an AMI for virtual server backups in AWS?If we turn off CBT, will the AMI be deleted after the virtual server backup completes?If we turn off CBT, what are the pros and cons?Are hotadd and EBS direct the only two available transport modes?If there is a 3TB EC2 instance, how long will it take to create an AMI for the backup?Thanks

VM backup issue after SP upgrade to 11.25

Hello, After we upgrade SP to 11.25 i see some issue in some of vm backup. The Vm staying in waiting staats and and saying Please check the log files for this job for more details. I wil uploade job log here. If on next day i resubmit job its wil run normaly. Its seems after ther upgrade the MA's getting to busy with something and cannot handle the vm job.On all failed jobs i am keep seeing this erro: 2210493 21babd 04/12 09:37:26 1594108 receiveObject() - Failed to receive object. Excluding SPLFDTA (spool files) from backups

Hi, I’m aware that there is a Restore Spooled file data (SPLFDTA) check box option when Performing an IBM i File System Agent Restore. However, what I’m looking for, is for a way to not backup the spool files to begin with. In native IBM i backup commands, the Spooled file data (SPLFDTA) option is set to *NONE by default. Thus, one must explicitly specify SPLFDTA(*ALL) on a native IBM i backup process in order to save these. How do we go about mimicking the same behavior in Commvault? As a side note, simply excluding all Out Queue Objects (OUTQ) is not a valid option. Regards,  SP.

Rest Api /Task Remove Schedule Policy Assocation

Good Day,we are facing strange behaviour when trying to disassociate a subclient from a schedule policy using rest-api.One client with multiple filesystem Subclients can be associated to different schedulepolicies. How to keep snapshot after VM buckup (WMwere)?

Hello guys, Just a quick one.As I know, after VM backups’s completed, snapshot is automatically removing from VM.Is any way (Additional Setting, etc.) to keep VM snapshots after backup’s copleted? Rgds,Kamil

Accessing ComCell Console over secure port ?

Hi Team,When I run CommCell Console remotely, ports 80 and 81 are accessed. Port 80 is not secure, I'm not sure about 81. Is there a safer method?

Trigger node change for unix cluster

Hi,we have a unix (ubuntu linux) cluster and installed commvault on all three nodes. After that I created a “unix cluster” with there three nodes with the virtual cluster IP.I could do a backup for the cluster filesystem, but after a failover of the cluster filesystem to another cluster node, the backup failed. It still tries the backup on the previous node. So I think the local commvault agents didn’t notice the node change. Is there any chance to trigger the node change to the commvault agent?As a workaround, I restarted the commvault agent locally, but a solution for running services would be better.Thanks,Janko

VSA backup via SAN runs very slowly

We had to move the VSA backups to the second data center because the backup storage in the first data center filled up and we can't delete any data. Since this has been moved, the whole thing has been running very slowly. Transport Mode is still SAN but it only backs up one VM instead of 15 at a time.You can clearly see the throughput between SP_Alsterdorf_Standard and the change to SP_Norderstedt_StandardBoth media agents are set up so that both can access the backup storage and the production storage. Does anyone here have a quick solution to this problem? Kind RegardsThomas

OVH SDDC as a target for Livesync ?

Hello,we are currently evaluating our options for a customer who wants to replicate his VMware VMs offsite.vCloud Director (vCD) is supported as a LiveSync target and OVH SDDC cloud offering seems based on vCD ; but then other things could keep the replication for working, for instance :OVH not exposing the required vCD API to its tenants OVH not giving enough permissions to its tenantsDoes anyone here knows if it can be done ? Thanks !

I would like to ask for help regarding the backup data capacity inquiry.

When checking the capacity of the backup data, I want to check the capacity by filtering the modified date of the file or the date it was created.(e.g. 2018.01.01 to 2020.12.31)(When filtering from Browse and restore, the list of files is displayed as set by filtering, but the total capacity is not displayed correctly.)Does Commvault support this feature?The version is V11 SP16.

vm impossible to launch full backup "there is no license available"

Hello, How’re you? Need a hint please:I’ve a vm backuped as a vm under its vcenter And an agent for a specific fs backup on it As i’ve indexing v2 enabled, i see both backup types under the same commvault inventory entity, with 2 agents: fs + virtual server (virtual agent for vm backup) Since i’ve probably made a mistake (i had to wipe/merge manually entities because of strange double reference for vm backup in inventory), when i try a full backup on the virtual server/backupset/subclient, i’ve already done 2 weeks ago with success, i get an error “there is no license available”So:I’ve licence enough I can’t find by myself how to re-enable licence on this vm  entity Do you have an hint please? Thanks in advance. Regards.

Move Mouth Path

Hi, Please diagnose incomplete data transfer between mount points.At the turn of February and March, we migrated a dozen or so mount points between arrays.All tasks were successful. Old data was not deleted on one of the mount points.There is much more to the target mount point.View from the catalogs side.How can we confirm that the data has been migrated correctly?

As topic says, are backup and restore of Hyper-V shielded vm’s (Guarded Fabric and Shielded VMs overview | Microsoft Docs)  supported ? And if so, are there any special configuration needed on the Commvault side ?

Only incremental backups are running

We have scheduled daily incremental and weekly Full backup which runs every Friday. However, only incremental backups are running, even on Friday incremental runs and not full. Even if we fire a manual Full backup or even differential, it runs only incremental backup. Not able to figure out what maybe the issue. Can you help?

worm workflow question with Azure storage container for long term backups

Hi, we are testing backups to Azure blob with time based immutable options. we have 2 containers for short and long term backups.for short term backups, we decided to use worm workflow, but our issue is with long term backups.our weekly backups are retained for 7 years, if i use worm workflow it seals DDB every 365 days (maximum with workflow), and we planning to leverage manually setup for this enable immutability on storage container, enable worm option on storage policy level, and make DDB seal time as 7 years. can someone please verify this setup?Thanks,

Upgrade from version 11.20 to 11.26 (Latest release)

Hi,We are planning to upgrade our commvault software version 11.20.46 to the latest 11.26.x (If still supported). Below are our inquiry. If our active Capacity license can cover to perform or assist us on the upgrade by the help of CV Support team? Under Commcell Environment Upgrades documentation, we can see a lot of information's about the upgrade and procedures. Being new to this backup software this cause confusion. Is there a way to provide a specific upgrade procedure base from our current setup/environment including compute requirements? (see our current Commcell environment below) Other component that need to upgrade and procedure as wellOur Commcell Environment:Commvault software version 11.20.46 Target version is 11.20.26 we have a CVFailover in our CommCell environment.
