Hi Team,If we use third party Key management server such as AWS KMS with Commvault , will there be any impact on backups and recovery throughput or performance .Iam assuming that Encryption keys retrieval is faster when its present in CS database as compared to retrieve keys from third part KMS  ? Let me know if my understanding is not right .Also , during a backup or recovery job does encryption keys retrieval from CS DB or third party KMS happen only 1 time or it will be continuous for each and every block/chunk ?

Hello All, We are working on encrypting all of our jobs (backups) via software encryption on the policies. While setting it up I was curious on how the option “No Access” works. Would we be given the option to store the decryption key somewhere else or is it all stored in Commvault regardless? If it is stored in Commvault how do we get to the key to save it for later decryption use. I know “Via Media Password” has it stored in the library and now I wonder if it is possible to get to that decryption key as well. Thank you all for the help! Hi Team,Iam testing Isilon Smart lock feature for storage level immutability with Commvault  DASH Aux Copies.My Dedupe is hosted on local drive ( non-worm) on windows media agent .Library is created from smart lock directory from Isilon .My question is that how does CV writes to WORM enabled storage ? As per the current settings on Isilon Smart lock there is autocommit time period of 5 mins  ... files that have been in a SmartLock directory for a 5 mins of time without being modified will  automatically committed to a WORM state.Can Commvault handle this because i guess there will be chunks which will not modify for 5 mins and need to update later during Aux copy process? Will the Aux copy fail or create new chunks/folders ?What about DDB ? Keeping DDB on non-worm and data on worm is recommended way ?Regards,Mohit

Hello~ ^^I have a question.When doing Oracle DB online backup, is the online redo log file backed up?  (including RAC)

We have just updated to 11.24.38 and were expecting to be able to exclude Teams sites from SharePoint backups. The release documentation for MR38 has the following two entries:SharePoint Online: v2 - missing option to Exclude Teams sites. 5118, 5121, 5122 Adding support to be able to exclude Team sites from SharePoint Online configuration. 5131However, I cannot see anything in Command Center nor can I find anything in the online documentation on how to add this. Is this done at a content level or via additional settings? We are using O365 V2 agents for the Teams and SharePoint backups.

Good morning I have a customer that is backing up in car videos (local sheriff’s dept) and he is deduping this data.  We have created a new stand alone dedupe database for this data and are using a selective copy to copy weekly fulls to another target.  We have set up another stand alone dedupe database for this copy.  The customer is having issues getting this data copied over - it’s taking multiple days.  The full backup is about 40 TB in size.  We have recommended not using dedupe for this copy, but the customer does not have enough capacity for non-deduped copies.  Are there any optimizations that can be made to speed up this aux copy?  They currently have only 1 subclient backing up all the data - if they split this out, would that help in using multiple streams for the aux copy?  Any other suggestions? Thanks

Hi! Some time ago we set up Commcell dedicated to Hadoop environment. One media agent, one DDB (two partitions, hosted on local SSDs), deduplication block size increased to 512KB, disk library from few external SAN attached storage arrays. And it keep growing :) Few incremental jobs a day, writing ~10TB, synthetic full each 10 days. Without any performance issues so far. DDB Q&I ~ 500ns. Both backup and restore time acceptable. It’s kind of archive, not typical backup solution. Last month I was asked to disable retention, because ongoing migration activities. And it keep growing faster. I assume until 2PB on disk library by the end of year.  So wondering when I’d hit the ceiling for this setup? I know it breaks media agent and deduplication sizing, but until Q&I time are fine everything is acceptable? Or i would hit other limit? It need to survive until end of this year! :)  Some numbers below :

Hi..Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do I run a copy- only backup of an AG DB on a replica of my own choice?When trying to run them locally on a replica, the AG DBs are skipped...... Setting the additional setting, nBackupAGDBsViaActualInstance with an value of '1' doesn't seems to make a difference either.AG DBs are still being "Skipped from collect"..  The "Offload full backup job to secondary replica" found in the Command Center doesn't seem to let me specify on which replica to run the backup..  So how do I do this...? CVLT version: v11.24.29. Thank you,.. Best regardsRubeckDK

Hello All,I am planning to enable the App aware backups for the MySQL database and VM’ which has vRDM. In order to use the intellisnap, Do i need to create a storage array if i m using the native snap engines? If i use native snap engine, storage array and snap copy on storage copy will be auto created? If i use hardware snapshots then i believe storage array must be created before i enable the intellisnap with correct snap enginePlease correct me and help me to understand the app aware backups (Streaming & Intellisnap)

Hi,i have a question about DDB data verification on a Scality ring S3 cloud (on premise).We have around 800TB of stored data on S3.Today the ddb verification move on average 1000 TB every month (1.5X as the volume of data stored on S3 scality).We have set the DDB data verification option to “Quick Verification of Deduplication Database”it is possible to reduce the number of GET per month by changing the way DDB verification run?regards,

 Is there a report that you can run that shows the log in accounts currently in use by all the backups? 

Every time I send an auxiliary copy to tape, it tells me that the Chucks are not available for the operating system.  The end user put the MA installation path inside the drive where the backups are located, can this be the cause

Hello Team,Just want check the best practice of configuration for VM's scheduling policy. We have 250 VM's including critical and non-critical, Based on critical and non-critical the Server Backup plan is created. While creating SBP (server Backup plan)  the schedule policy automatically created and associated with SBP.Now we don't want run all the VM's in same scheduling time and will run batch by batch in different backup sub client jobs.Please advise the best way for scheduling option. Thanks and Regards,Anand

Hi,Does anyone know what sense codes CVLT interprets to start a drive cleaning job?We suspect that CVLT is starting tape drive cleanup jobs under unexpected and undesired conditions.The option “Set drive as needs on CRC errors” is not checked. In two days we got one new cleaning universal tape that expired. There's another one on the way. A new cleaning tape has 50 cycles. We have a Qualstar model RLS-87120 LTO6 with 5 drives.  There is no automatic/schedule cleaning at the Library side. There is drive cleaning schedule on CVLT. We would greatly appreciate it if someone could contact the developers and find out this information.  

Hi Community ,Is there any SAP HANA expert here ? We are facing below serious issues with HANA Production backup --Issues –When one of the mount path in library reaches its reserve space during HANA backup job , Instead of HANA backup routing to another mount path of the same library which has sufficient free space,  backup jobs goes to hang status . We have to finally kill backup job from Commvault as it never comes out of hang status or fail on its own , after killing the HANA backup job it creates hang session on DB which doesn’t get cleared on its own and requires a DB restart which becomes an outage for mission critical production database .SAP has clearly stated that this is not a bug with existing HANA version.Let me know if anyone has experienced same issue or aware about this issue with HANA Backups ?

I have had issues with installing Commvault software package 11:25:19 to any server in Azure.  The network team has ensured me that there is no port restrictions.  We did a test using Wireshark during the install from Commserve to the agent.  It drops the software on it just fine, however the we noticed ACK packets dropping off.  The main issue is the agent does not register with the Commserve.  This has caused me no end of pain.  My account has full rights on both servers, ports 135, 139, 445 and 8400 are open.  My account has full rights on the registry including HLM and and all sub folders.  The WMI has the correct security settings on CIMV2 also.  Here is a extract of the log that we are seeing.“8988  1     03/25 14:17:55 ### ### ### - Showing dialog : RunFirewallDaemonViewModel .......8988  6     03/25 14:17:55 ### ### ### - Skipping auto detection of HTTP proxy for interactive installation.8988  6     03/25 14:17:55 ### ### ### - Initializing firewall daemon

We just started using Metallic to backup SharePoint online.  We tested 17 sites.  The jobs are complete, but a lot of data is missing.  Did anyone else experience this?
