Hello everyone, everything good?I'm doing a clean install of CommVault for an environment of up to 500 virtual machines.I chose the CommCellSizing Medium setting:Medium: supports up to 500 servers, or 1000 virtual machines, or 5000 laptops in a single CommCell environment. 8 CPU cores | 32GB RAM | 200 GB of disk space for CommServe databaseI'm having doubts about this disk provisioning for the Database. Is 200GB a size that already considers growth over time or is it just for initial installation?Is it a good practice to have a partition just for the Database and separate the other solutions (Content Store)? Or does it make any difference in terms of performance?

Hello everyone, everything good?I have some questions about CommServe. I understand that this solution is basically an index database and job summary.And I have five questions about CommServe:1- What types of data does it receive via the network? How big is the traffic?2- What does the MediaAgent send to CommServe? Just the Job Summary?3- What does the Commvault client installed on the operating system send to CommServe?4- How is the communication flow? Who starts the backup job? Who is the first and the last to be informed? What are the communication stages and what is sent in each of them and where...5- A backup interface (Layer 2 only) is required so that this traffic (MediaAgent and Client) does not impact the production interface or this traffic is negligible, to the point that I don't have to worry about it using Layer 3 on the interface of production?

Hi allI’ve setup a small CS in my lab which I’ll be using to present to a customer.All has been installed and is working.I do notice that when I launch the Command Centre, the Dashboard view and the Reports view are both completely empty.I’ve seen two topics on the forum around this. Both fixes don’t seem to apply in my scenario.I’m running Windows Server 2019 and CVLT V11.25.29 I’m interested to hear if there are any solutions to this?Thanks.

I don’t know whycheckreedness status OK. What should i do?  

I am doing this sortof.  I have an S3-IA bucket and send my Aux copies to it.  I am just not doing the tiering to Glacier or something else.  Everything stays in S3IA.  My Aux copy retention is for 91 days, but I am getting blasted with AWS charges for early deletes.  Does anyone know how I can find what is deleting early?  CV support verified I have proper retention set.Thanks,Stephanie

Hi All,Currently we are using KeySecure (version is 8.4.3) for managing encryption keys for backup and restore in CommVault. We will be decommissioning the KeySecure soon and would like to know if its possible to import the keys to CommVault inbuilt key management system for existing backups before decommissioning the Keysecure so that we could still recover from existing backups using inbuilt KMS.  Also for future backups we would like to use the inbuilt key management server of CommVault which I think can be simply done by changing the key management server to be used in the Storage policy settings from external one to inbuilt. Thanks, Nazish

We were testing a small (200MB) backup and restore to tape and back to disk. Backup takes < 8 minutes however restore takes 3 hours. It appears that after making contact with the index server the restore is waiting almost three hours before mounting the first tape. Transfer from tape to disk actually take a few minutes. Any idea why it can take so long to mount the first tape?

Commvault is showing 75 TB of data to be written to tape.  We have set the tape copy to be “combine source data streams” to 3 (so it will use 3 tapes) and multiplexing is set to 5.Additionally: We have the “Data Path configuration” set to use alternate Data paths when ‘resources are busy”, and (in the policy) checked “enable stream randomization...” and “distribute data evenly among multiple streams...”Started the job, it chose to only write to 2 tapes, and also chose an alternate media agent to use (not sure why, the default media agent has 2 available tape drives and does not appear to be busy).Looking at the job, it only used 7 readers BUT there is a single stream/entry for ‘media not copied”… it does not seem to have determined it needed to use 3 streams.. yet it has a single stream “waiting” … and its not writing “10 readers” (only 7)… so the reader counts/multiplexing seems to not be honored ( as there is a single stream waiting in ‘media not copied”.

Hello,on my AWS environment,I have 2 Windows MA and a linux machine that is used as a proxy to backup EFS (AWS NFS like)Sicne yesterday the linux proxy machine stop responding.When I connect to AWS console I see that a lot of volume labeled_GX_BACKUP_SnapJob_210219_vol-086b61f123938a8f4 are mounted on it.I dont know why these volumes should mounted on the Windows MA.How to find from where they are mounted ?I want to know thaht before investigate why the proxy is down. I think boot filesystem is corrupted. Thanks !!

Hi Everyone,We integrated the Commvault with SNOW to create a ticket automtically for each  backup failure. We are getting two ticket for each VM backup failure.On Ticket for VM failure On Ticket for Subclient status Completed with ErrorThe cause of the issue, Commvault sending two SNMP trap as per above condition. Do anyone having any solution or workaround for the issue? Thanks,Mani

Hi team, IHAC who runs Qumulo file server and performs it’s backup using CVLT + StoreOnce.Customer has a big concern about too long scanning time for backup so they’re about to apply this feature, Change File Tracking option on their environment.CVLT version is FR24 and I read this URL content but no any detailed procedures.Optimized Incremental Scans Using Qumulo Native Change File Tracking APIs (commvault.com)Can customer use this option to reduce the scanning time for the subsequent backup job?Please kindly let me know how to turn on this option from CV or Qumulo side. Thanks a lot.

When I setup a HPe Catalyst library I’m getting the following message after I enter the information for the library, host user account etc: it does detect the store Ok, but when I click on OK. I get the alert “Installation Directory look up failed for given mediaagent”. I have same media agent configure for another Cat library on different storeonce ok. I change the Media agent to use a different one, it finishes Ok. Anyone have any ideas.

Hello, There is a problem where if I am not mistaken - failed/killed job will no longer show logs for that job or events because it is aged out. I have a situation where customer comes and asks why we had failure 7-10 days ago - and I cannot answer because I cannot view logs for that job. I have tried to check some settings in media management>data aging and found something similar to it:“Days to keep the failed/killed backup job and other job histories” - it has 90 days on it, but I think it’s only to show that job in the history of jobs?

Hi,I am looking to run an in-place upgrade on the operating system on our Commserve Server from 2008R2 to 2012.  I have cloned our commserve server and tested this out but getting few issues after upgrade has completed.Before running the upgrade i made sure all CV services/Jobs were stopped.  Also stopped the SQL services.I get the following issues:The "Commvault Communications Service" and "Commvault Server Event Manager" services do not startup.  These seem to continually try to start then stops again.  All other services start fine.Also i was looking to run a repair on the install but it saying "unfinished installation detected".Has anyone came across issues like this?

Hi, Does anyone happen to know if it should be possible to restore an ACL when restoring to a UNC path? We backup a UNC path (using Network Share Client, generic for CIFS Azure Files) and the ACL from a file or directory is restored when restoring to a local disk, but not when restoring to the source UNC path.Thanks!

In my current environment I do have a certificate installed but that has an expiry till 2030. So need to re issue a certificate however issue is when i apply for the keys I am not sure how to push them to commvault and the rest steps.
