A couple of my Linux file agents are showing events telling me that “Optimized Scan could not process the request for [/home/]. Falling back to regular scan for this volume/path. Possible causes: Optimized Scan Service is down, Optimized Scan does not monitor this volume/path, or the database is inconsistent.”This may have begun after updating the commserve, mediaagents, and the Linux agents to 11.25.19 a couple days ago.How can I resolve this? I couldn’t find documentation on this issue. I am not the primary admin for these file servers, I’m just the commvault admin. I examined the FAQ here and I don’t believe that any of these are the issue.

Hello,we have ransomware protection enabled on our Media Agents!  But in case of attack we can lost the MediaAgent OS and don’t have access to the Libraries. MediaAgents have local disks for Disk LibrariesWhat kind of backup should I have to recover quick a MA from a different MA, without lost the backup data on the local disks on the impacted MediaAgent?What is the fastest restore, 1 touch non interactive will clean all disks first?We running V11SP24.25, MediaAgents are Dell servers. Thanks Juergen

Is there a way to configure the DAG client to authenticate to a specific AD server.We have an environment where there is are 2 domains for Exchange literally with the same name.One is production and another is non-production.  I need to configure the DAG but I am getting discovery failed everytime I run a discovery. Which I suspect is trying to authenticate thru the production AD environment.Any suggestions will be helpful..

Hi looking for some advice on Backing up Nutanix files.Nutanix ver 5.20.230 TB of capacityCommvault hyperscale 3 node cluster10 GB ethernet connectivity.  CIFS And NFS enabled. Documentation states the backups run through Access nodes and at aminimum 1 access node per protocol. Is there any integration with intellisnap for Nutanix files? I did not see this covered in the documentation, but maybe not looking in the right place.        

Good Day,I recently found out some of our mailboxes in Exchange 2013 were not being backed up.  I inherited this setup from a previous tech, and I found out that we are using AD Group discovery and that some accounts weren’t being added to the group.I see that there is also an option to configure Database discovery.  What’s the best way to switch to this?  My plan is to create a new association and add in all our databases and run a backup.  Can I then delete the AD group discovery?  Is there an issue having both - I don’t want to duplicate any data being backed up since we have disk space issues.Also, will using Database discovery back up the public folders or do I need to set up something else?  I noticed our public folders are not currently being backed up.Thanks for any assistance.Nick

I’ve enabled two-factor auth but cannot login to the traditional Java Commvault Console.  Is there a way to login from here?  I’ve tried to input the PIN as the password but no luck there either.

What does it mean when one node of my HyperScale has a down pointing green arrow and the penguin icon is greyed out?  

We are working on Commvault with Falconstor VTL POC. Our Commserve running on SP20.17. At first we have been provided with emulated HP tape library with LTO4 drives. When we initiate the backup, it failed with below error Then, we also try with emulated HP tape library with LTO7 drives. Then we received almost the same previous error.  We also already update Tape Drive driver on Windows, but still the same. FYI, we are using Windows 2016 with Commvault SP20.17 on the Commserve server which running on VM. Need someone opinion. Please help. Thanks.

Documentation for Workflows mentions some Functions for Java to interact with or access other Resources during execution https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=49729.htm.But alone from browsing through the other Pages it gets clear there are way more options like activity.exitCode or workflow.setFailed().Dissecting built in Workflows reveals other treasures like csdb.execute(“sqlquery”).Is there a complete list of all available Functions and how/when to use them? Trial-and-Error and Reverse-Engineering by Customers seems error-prone and inefficient.

Our PaaS team is interested in running backups with kubectl and I couldn’t give them a straight answer on this. Is this something that could be built or is in the works?

Hello,I noticed a small issue in one of my schedule. My commserver is in Helsinki time zone UTC+0200I created a replication schedule to run everyday 12:00 AM but I noticed job was running at 10:00 AM local time.Below screenshots captured at 11:00 AM local time. It shows next job in 23 hours (i.e. 10 AM local time) When changing time zone explicitly to UTC+0200, it picks correct time So looks like commserver is identifying itself in a different timezone. I validated OS time on commserver and it is correct (UTC+0200). Any ideas?I am concerned that this may mess up backup times.

A client with both File and SQL backup activated: Will commvault automatically skip SQL data like mdf, ldf in the File backup?Thanks

Management has provided me with a separate partition for my Database backup jobs. I already have a storage policy dedicate to our DB backups. Is there a way to force a backup job or a storage policy to only save to a specified mount path? I am thinking I can move a mount path to the DB partition and then direct my DB storage policy or DB jobs to copy only to the mount path on the DB partition that has been provided 

Hi Good day So there was a power outage, and I lost the SAN LUNs I provisioned for both DDB, Index Cache and even the storage repository. They were mapped/zoned to the Media Agent (Server) initially. Unfortunately, the guy on ground provisioned new storage for these DDBs AND Index Cache, changed the drive letters and reassigned the partitions I have brought back the LUNs and the backup files within are still intact. However, the location specified in the media library is offline. I can’t restore anything from this location.Please I need help, because we need to restore a file server

Hi all. Open Question! I would like to know what I can expect from a Vmware restore, regards to the speed. At the moment I don’t know if my restore speeds are fast or slow. I’m not talking about reverting from a intellisnap snapshot, but fair and square network traffic. What Vmware restore speeds do you get when restoring a single Vmware server?I get:nbd: around 500Gb/hSAN: around 250Gb/hHotadd: Around 900Gb/h Thanks for helping me to determine if my restores are slow. Regards-Anders   

Hi All. I am having issues with restore speed when restoring a vmware server. When a restore is done where “vCenter Client”  is set to the vcenter, restore speeds are slow.When a restore is done where “vCenter Client” is set directly to the ESXI host and the vcenter is bypassed, we see a factor 4 in restore speeds. Anyone who can explain this behavior? I thought that the vcenter was only used for control data and not data movement. Regards-Anders

Hello CV-Community,I have started a Hana DB restore from a HyperScale X Appliance and received an average throughput of ~100GB/hr. The Job was successful and in the events, there were no errors. However, I was wondering if this throughput is normal for an HSX 4-Node System. So I have started another restore test to a different physical destination server and received the same average throughput of ~100GB/hr. All systems are redundantly connected with 10G Network. Also, the Health status of the HSX is good. I looked on the internet but I could not find a documented Benchmark of the HSX.Does anyone know if this performance is "good" or normal for this appliance?For comparison: Backup performance of the same HSX is more then 10x higher and has over 1000GB/hr for the same clients tested for the restore.Regards, Kevin

Hey All, I have a question to the following scenario: Windows MA with an NVME Flashcard Actually the flashcard is formatted with 4K blocksize and we are planning to format the disk for 32KB blocksize as written in BOL ( https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/12411_deduplication_building_block_guide.html )  On the Flashcard we are hosting 3 DDBs. DDB is for backups to an cloudian Backup Device over S3 Protocoll in local Datacenter DDB is for Backups to SAN Attached STorage DDB is for backups into S3 Storage out of the Datacenter I have the following question. Can we use one Windows Partition with 32K Blocksize or should we make 3 partitions with different windows block size ?
