Hi,How can i restore office 365 mailbox from secondary copy.Regards.
Hello Team,In our environment we have are planning to a VM migration from one Vcenter to the other one.I am thinking of commvault instead of Veeam application to perform migration. In commvault thinking of using VM replication option to migrate VM from source to destination vcenter with periodic replication. Once replication is completed I can stop and continue services using destination vcenter. Please suggest, if its good to go or do we have any other option to perform the migration.
Hello team, just looking to see how to browse/restore a user mailbox(O365 Exchange Online) from a 2nd copy tried:view jobs from 2nd copy→ right click on job → browse/restore option is grayed out ?
I’m trying to see if a particular schedule (ToTape) ran on schedule. When I looked at the job summary (storage policy > ToTape > right click > view jobs), I don’t see a job ran on Sept 2 1am. The 2 jobs listed here are the ones I triggered manualy. But when I generate a “Backup Job Summary Report” for that policy, it looks like it ran.We are running commcel version 11.32.63.Did the job actually run? Is there any other ways on how I can verify it?
We currently have a 3 node Powerstore cluster deployed and we are looking to leverage the internal Powerstore cluster data migration to move a volume and all of the volume snapshots between arrays in the Powerstore cluster. As these snapshots were taking by CV IntelliSnap and not committed to the Isilon were we keep backups yet can we still go ahead with the migration and well not break anything?I can’t find anything in the documentation that can support this question either way, but any feedback would be awesome!
Hi All, I have a problem when i restore the postgreSQL FsBased, when i will try to restore the restore is complete but when the starting service database is failed So any idea fo this issue,?
An endpoint to backup an entire esxi datastore?
Hi Team, From what I can see in the document, in the Commvault FR20 version, it is possible to discover NAS systems live and get a report. However, I think this feature is obsolete. Is there a feature that can discover NAS systems live and provide a report with the 11.32 version? https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20/nas_system_discovery_report.html
Is there currently any way to leverage IAM VM Role Assignment for an Azure Blob Object Storage Repository, instead of using an IAM AD Application?
I need an API endpoint to remove backupsets, clients and vmdk from filters of the subclient.Commvault version 11.32.43
Hi,We recently upgraded to FR20 and I can’t get the Command Center or Web Console to load.I always get the same error: TomCat is running fine. I restarted the services several times, and even rebooted the CommServe. When I check the CVWebService, I receive the message: “Webservice is Running!”. So I’m not sure what’s happening. I found some Knowledge Base articles, but none solved the issue.Has anybody else had this issue in the past? Thanks!Jeremy
Update on the Commvault Release ProcessOrganizations choose to adopt software solutions in different ways. Some organizations want to assure they have access to the latest innovation, while others prefer a feature-consistent release with long-term support. Some organizations are drawn to the convenience of a SaaS model, while others prefer the control afforded by traditional on-premises software solutions.Commvault is committed to delivering software in the way our customers want to consume it, whether traditional software or SaaS, the latest functionality, or a release that remains consistent for an extended period. Innovation and Long-Term Support ReleasesCommvault will release cyber resilience functionality in two release streams. An Innovation Release stream is baselined annually and updated monthly. These releases contain the latest Commvault feature content and will be supported until the next release is available. Innovation release customers requesting support may be asked to up
Hello,I was provided with the commvault system by the company I work for. I was left alone, other administrators who dealt with it left. My question may be simple, but it would speed up my work a bit, especially since it worked before. Every week I restore virtual machines (HYPER-V) to a server that is only used to restore these virtual machines, and an additional backup which is then kept on a server where the network is disconnected. The screenshot shows how I do it and I have to select "Destination Client". The server where I want to perform this restore is not visible on the list, so I have to add the server and the user to be able to connect and perform this restore, but I do it for several machines and I have to enter this server manually each time, and it used to be displayed on the list .How to make the server that wants restores appear on the list automatically. My target server settings are similar to other servers. The screenshots show the list where I want to place the targ
I have a customer who has excess Hadoop capacity that they would like to use for a long term storage target. I saw the below link on BOL that caught my attention as a possible solution, but I think this is just using commvault to orchestrate movement of data already in Hadoop to cold tiers within Hadoop, is that right? They would like to setup Hadoop to be a disk library for capturing that long term data, can we do that? https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/hadoop_tiering_using_hybrid_file_store.html
We have a situation whereby we have some critical content which was pruned from other storage leaving only aged jobs on tape. I’ve been watching the catalog job run for 15 hours and the filemarker is only at 3260 (according to the CVMA.log) and if one can believe this - the end FM of the tape is 139,947,214,372,864 (at least that is what it says at the top of the TapeCatalog.log. Clearly this is a non-starter. The throughput for the last hour(s) is 0MB/s. So, is the FileMarker number real and if so, how could this possibly be a valid solution anymore? Maybe back in the DLT days, sure. Or am I misreading? Support has said there’s no way to estimate completion or progress. The CCM method as suggested in other posts as well as support seems like a possible way, but, I also read that barcodes cannot be the same in source and dest commcells, so then what? And can I choose to simply export or import the metadata specific to this media or set of media? Any suggestions other than waiting an
Wondering if anyone knows a SQL query to pull this information in the screen shot for all clients. Would like to create a grafana dashboard with this information
HiMapped ESX Datastores via FC to a HSX cluster - reason behind is using SAN Transport mode.Had to reboot the nodes as rescan-scsi-bus.sh didn’t work and couldn’t see the new devices. However, now that I see the disks, backups are not running properly with “failed to read disk over SAN transport” error.Any hints/tips on this? Couldn’t find much around as this is a storage related topic.Appreciate the help around.ThanksIvan
Hi all,I’m setting up a Synology NAS as a backup repository in a vSAN environment with Commvault. I need advice on the best protocol to use (iSCSI, CIFS, or NFS) for optimal performance and reliability. What are the best practices for configuring the NAS in this setup?Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Where we work, the physical disk(s) must be sanitized. Currently, there is no good way to only sanitize a specific data location on any disk in a local Commvault disk library. Yes, there’s the CVDisk Eraser Tool, but that is only good for a whole volume or mount point. There are tools like BCWipe, but for that to target a specific data location - you need to know the data’s location. Commvault doesn’t easily give up where it stores data for say, a single laptop agent’s backups. When I inquired about this with support, they said it would be non-trivial to determine. Plus then even if you did, there’s no way to gracefully wipe only the folder/data locations without dirtying the database(s), since you’d have the leave the folders there to eradicate with your sanitization tool *before* trying to remove it from the command center/java console. I suggested a CMR to dev, that would offer the ability to sanitize a single laptop agent’s specific data location(s), on deletion, with something lik
How to disable 2fa from the commvault support portal and what we can add one more email id in exiting support portal for the communication.
What is included in the Data Written (TB) figure? Is it only primary copy data written or does it include secondary and third copy also? I know it is already the deduplicated figure that is represented
I have pulled the retention details of the VM client via api. It is in unix epoch time so I had to convert it to human readable format. The datetime on commvault GUI and API is different.Below information is fetched via API:Unix epoch time: 1728697951Retained until: 2024-10-12 01:52:31Below is from the GUI
Hello community, After we replaced the media agents in our test environment and the storage policies were redirected to the new media agents, I get the following error message. Description: The virtual machine collect file could not be uploaded to MediaAgent [cvmatapp06]. Unable to initialize connection to remote file cache.I've been dealing with this problem for half a day but can't find a solution. Maybe someone here can give me a hint. I had already replaced the media agents in production but didn't have this problem then.RegardsThomas
Hi,is there an option available, that skips IntelliSnap Snap Backups, when Backup Copy operations are currently running for the subclient ?On NetApp FAS Systems, a new hardware snapshot cannot be created, while a volume clone is active. For some of the backups on large subclients, this leads to failed backups from time to time. This in my environment, this happens to some of the sublients once a month (4-weekly, before switching from Storage Policies to Plans)Instead of defining Blackout Windows to statically define when snap backups are to be skipped, it can also be helpful to simply skip the snap backup request, when the subclient is active with a backup copy or mount for restore operation.rgdsKlaus
Hi,Is there any document (or KB) how to configure network at OS lever for Windows CommServe/Media agent with multiple NICs? Do we configure default gateway for every network interface configured or there should be only one interface with default gateway and static routes? Thanks,Radek
