Hi all, Looking at below Microsoft documentation it seems AGP Azure Cool tier offers the same restore performance as AGP Azure Hot tier. Is that correct? "Data in the cool and cold tiers have slightly lower availability, but offer the same high durability, retrieval latency, and throughput characteristics as the hot tier."https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/access-tiers-overview Is it possible to have auto tiering for Azure AGP from Hot to Cool?
Hi, We have a customer that is using Commvault Cloud Backup & Recovery SaaS for Active Directory (Metallic MTL-AD-USR) and is interested in the recovery of the Active Directory Forest. We have read that there is a new subscription (Commvault Cloud for Active Directory Enterprise Edition) but we do not see it in the Price List. Does the customer have to upgrade from Commvault Cloud Backup & Recovery SaaS for Active Directory to Commvault Cloud for Active Directory Enterprise Edition or add this new subscription or replace Commvault Cloud Backup & Recovery SaaS for Active Directory with Commvault Cloud for Active Directory Enterprise Edition? Thanks,Paul
Hi alli am using metallic and one of our plans has a retention policy of 30 days with a synthetic full each month i was wondering if cycles could pip this on retention ,although I would have to find the cycle settings hope this makes sense Regards Tony
Hi everyone,I'm seeking clarification regarding the Auto Discovery features available in Commvault's Metallic environment.Specifically: What types of resources can be automatically discovered? For instance, is it possible to configure auto discovery for specific services like Amazon RDS? Can I configure global auto discovery across all resources in specific accounts? Is it feasible to filter discovered resources using tags?
Hi,i try to restore a user account from Active Directory with metallic and i get this error: How can i solve this?RegardsDennis
I am trying to install on-prem backup gateway and connecting to Metallic but getting error. I have opened outbound communication ports from backend gateway to Metallic on these ports 443, 8400 and 8403.at the firewall, I can see traffic is using ports 443, 8400 and 8403. From this gateway I am able to access the URL https://metrics.metallic.io., but during the installation, it is not connecting to the Metallic. What ports need to allow apart from above to make the communication between on-prem gateway and Metallic.
Commvault 11.321PiB of back-end data (compressed/deduped/stored size)Aux copying data from secondary copy of backup data.Four physical media agents on-premFour virtual media agents in Azure5Gbps ExpressRoute circuit from on-prem to AzureThere is about 20ms of latency between the physical on-prem MAs and the Azure virtual MAsWe have deduplication/DASH copy enabled. We saw atrocious performance, from the start. Seeing that 20ms of latency would certainly impact DDB look-ups on the virtual MAs, we turned on “Source Side Disk Cache” in the storage policy copy (we kept the default 8192MB cache size). It’s running a little bit faster, but still pretty sluggish.Would we expect to see a further boost in performance by expanding the “Source Side Disk Cache” from 8192MB to ~128000MB? That should further reduce the incidence of remote DDB look-ups on the Azure virtual MAs, right? Are there any other best practices for speeding up the transmissing of Commvault aux copies from an on-prem site
Hi Supportcan anyone assist me to install the Agent in SQL server/ as i got error
Hey everyone,We've got a customer whose Air Gap Metallic license is hitting 100% utilization. To help them understand exactly what's burning through their capacity, we need to break down the details. Here's what we're looking for: Top Resource Consumers: A clear view of which workloads, clients, or protected instances are the biggest battery drain. Job Types & Backup Classes: Identifying which types of jobs or backup categories are contributing most to the load. Retention Periods: How long data is being kept and their impact on overall storage consumption. Is there a way in Metallic or via the Command Center to pull detailed reports or dashboards that can show us which components are driving the full capacity? This info will not only help pinpoint where optimizations can be made but also give the customer a solid basis to plan for future capacity management. Thanks for the insights in advance—let’s make sure we have a clear picture so that our customer can stay ahead of the game
Hi all,We are reviewing our O365 Plan’s retention period. There are two settings 1. Retention 2. Version retention. I can’t find any documentation on Commvault website to explain each of these settings. Can someone please help to explain it a bit?Q1. Does every deleted items older than Retention get deleted? (e.g. a deleted email in an active mailbox that has passed the retention period will get deleted from backup?) Or, it only look at account level? (e.g. everything in a deleted account passed the retention period will get deleted, otherwise it stays)Q2. What exactly Version retention does? All our plan have this on infinite. How does this setting change the backup if we set it to 7 years?Any information will help. Thanks in advance,YC
Hi:Do you know if Commvault Cloud can backup & restore Microsoft Power Apps and App Services?Regards,Paul
Hi Today I noticed a job running which I presume was initiated by CommCell which I have no accesses too Index Restore Commserve Management. If anyone knows what this entails I would be much obliged. We are running Metallic (Commvault Cloud ) Regards Tony
We have metallic Saas license for endpoint, we are trying to push agent using silent method with authcode. it has completed for one laptop.but we dont want the laptop user to pause or start on demand backup.can the user do on demand backup or pause the backup or restore the data without username and password.no owner for the laptop as of now. does the user has access to pause or run on demand backup or restore the backup using edge monitor app.
Backup type is for a VMware hypervisor. We created a plan that requires a weekly recovery point with extended retention in which it auto generated an SF schedule for every thursday at 02:18AM. The VM group was set to trigger its daily incremental everyday at 12:30AM in the same plan.We recently accidentally (no failures in the VM parent jobs) noticed that more than 10 out of the 30 VMs for the VM group had the last synthetic full of 12th December and then realized that even though the parent SF VM backup job was being triggered, the VMs were being automatically excluded or not triggering the corresponding child VM backup job as its incremental was still running at 02:18AM. We raised a case with support and we were informed that child VM jobs not being triggered due to an existing incremental running and with no errors shown in the parent VM backup job is not a bug and by design. I would just like to ask the forum if you guys are aware of this behaviour and if you can point us to the do
Hello,During the 8th of March Webinar, it was shown that Azure DevOps backup is now possible using Commvault.Do you plan to make it available for Metallic as well?Thank you,Jean-Christophe
Hello CV SME Team, can you please tell us if we have plan or release in fo on Azure to protect and restore : Azure KeyVault Azure Devops (repos, pipelines etc) Support Storage Accounts without using Storage Account Services right Automation Accountsmany thx in advance
2FA FAQ:Demo VideoQ: What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)? A: 2FA is a security measure that requires users to provide two verification factors to gain access to an application, enhancing the security of user accounts.Q: How does 2FA work? A: When 2FA is enabled, users will need to provide their password and an additional verification method, such as a code sent to their mobile device or an authenticator app.Q: Why is Commvault enforcing 2FA for all users? A: We are enforcing 2FA to provide an additional layer of security for our customers. 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access and helps protect sensitive data.Q: When will Commvault enforce 2FA for all users? A: Commvault Cloud will enforce 2FA for all customers starting March 25, 2025.Q: Why is the message to set up 2FA showing up? A: Commvault is prompting all customers to enable 2FA on their own during this period. If 2FA is not set up by March 25, 2025, enforcement will begin from the Commvault side.Q: As an
we are new to O365 and metallic saas and would like to know more about it. what is the expected RPO for metallic for O365 exchange workload? and what are your actual RPO observed in your environments/tenants? thank you!
Where do I find detailed information on setting up Syslog for CommVault Metallic?Where does the syslog traffic originate from?
Hello. I was wondering if anyone has run non Intellisnap backups and had any issues. And if you have run both, what are the drawbacks/advantages when compared to each other such as consistency, speed, impact on vm’s, etc.
Hi am i correct in assuming that we are restricted to 10GB restores and if greater than that a file server agent must be installed to complete the restore.
Dear All, I would like to see your kind advice on the CV cloud storage issues. With CV cloud no longer offer unlimited data storage, how do you manage the storage size? Currently i have 29 TB of data (365 email, sharepoint, onedrive, where 80% of the storage used is from 365 email). The above is 3 years plus of data, my current retention policies is unlimited. Max that i can set is 7 years due to business requirement for certain group of users. Other users i can set a shorter retention policy. But CV cloud doesn’t allow setting different retention policy for different group of user. How do you all Manage the backup size Store your backup, do you use other storage for your CV cloud?
For all of our VM’s our security team required that we Disable public access on Disk and create Disk access policies with private endpoints. After this we seen an increase in ingress and egress charges for Metallic. I’m been trying to find some documentation from Commvault that details that this will happen when you put into place Disk access policy with private endpoints.
Created Metallic Recovery Reserve. How do I connect VM to Metallic Recovery Reserve? What are the steps?
It seems that the api to GET the credential returns endpoint with a different key as compare to what is expected by PUT api for updating the credential . API : /commandcenter/api/v5/credential/:credentialidEven from the document the key name is different from what is returned. As you can see from actual output , we get extra “Endpoint” in the key name. This results the automation of GET and PUT request , to remove the endpoint completely . I agree that we can modify it in the automation before hitting PUT , but I still feel this is a BUG. Any one faces / observed this issue ?
