Selective copy that shoud copy yearly Fulls to tape not waiting for the expected jobs

Hello,I created a selective copy that shoud copy yearly Fulls to tape. it is scheduled to be executed on January 2025 to copy the last fulls of December 2024 But something is not clear for me. Based on the configuration and what I understand,all the last full backups that will be performed on December 2024 should be copied to tape at launch via the schedule policy. (expected on January 2025) Here is the detailed configuration Storage Policy Copies : Storage Policy Copy Properties [General]  Storage Policy Copy Properties of [Selective Copy] Schedule policy   Why on this copy, I see that is on the Media Not CopiedWhen I click on Media Not copied, I see that some media needs to be copied from the Primary even if we are not at the end of the year 2024 and the schedule doesn’t happen yet (schedule is planned for January 2025 to copy last full of December 2024) Media Not copied list Detail of V_30450 Detail of V_30450I see that some jobs are waiting for copy but that jobs have been run on 2

Admin user Email

Hello,Is it possible to set the admin user Email as the ‘master’ group instaed of a single email ID ?So that admin user alerts will be sent to all master group members instaed of just to one person ?  Thanks

Vcenter 8.0.2.

Hello, We ar we are planning to upgrade our Vcenter to 8.0.2 but commvaul support only 8.0.1. Anyone know when Vcenter 8.0.2 wil be supported?  Our Commserver running on SP 11.32.28.

MFA / Microsoft Authenticator bypass ?

Hello team!In case of enabling mfa for ALL users / groups, Im wondering if there is any “backdoor” for admin user.In case of lost Microsoft Authenticator app and email access, is there any way to restore access to Commcell, even with help of Commvault supoprt?I cant decide if it’s preferred to enable mfa for all admins (master) users or to leave one admin user without mfa (with a strong password) in case of backdoor.Please for your thoughts.

SQL local user - sysadmin permissions for COMMVAULT Instance

Hello, just wondering in order to “increase” security to SQL DB of CommServe, following CIS Level 1 hardening, is it a good idea to remove sysadmin permissions from local / windows user from SSMS?After this action, is there any way to connect to COMMVAULT SQL instance?Where we can find the credentials for these sql local users?Please for your feedback!

mysql transaction log backup failed - binary logs missing

Hi, Our MySQL DB admin has removed some transactions logs from DB side. No we recieve following error in incremental backup. our full backup is a snap backup. So after the full, incremental are also failing with the same error. what we can do to fix this without purging logs from D side ? Really appreciate the help at this point.

Storage Policy Copy Create limitation ?

Hi Team, The Library of Storage Policy Copy, which I marked in the red frame in the screenshot below, will be closed. For this reason, we need to move the data to the "Private Cloud Library" that we have just created."Private Cloud Library" is not listed as Storage Pool when creating new Storage Policy Copy. There are already 2 Storage Policy Copy attached from "Private Cloud Library".The question is: How can I add a Storage Policy Copy with different retention addressing the same Library? Is there a limitation?If I can't get past this, is there any suggestion on how I can move the data?

500 TB CIFS backups once a month for 7 years retention as incremental forever primary destination is tape

Hello,Our customer is currently backing up a large CIFS share using another backup solution once a month. The solution has been configured to do the incremental forever with 7 years retention. The backup lands on diskpool and migrate to tape as last resting location. After the backup completion tapes send to vault. How can we mimic same method with Commvault with a tape library.  There is no disk to tape migration neither incremental forever without doing any synthetics full with Commvault.I thought best approach might be listed what do you think?Define a NAS client  with CIFS credentialsRun a manual full backup to Tape library using maximum amount of drives with multiple streaming.Define a monthly schedule as to directly tape library as target Set basic retention 2555 days 1 cycle.Maybe once a year run a synthetic full just for precaution (!)This still lack of disk to tape migration but at least similar to current solution.

Hello, I am trying to NAS backup with NDMP agent but when i am running incr backup its taking to long or de backup faile. The volume have more then 14M small files.  What is best practice to backup it? Intellisnap maybe?

PostgreSQL implementation Backup size vs real db size

Hello all!We are in the middle of Proof of concept Postgre backup implementation process.No one of our backup team does have any experience regarding this backup type. So far we do have implemented backup that I am able to see those two Backups sets:I am trying to understand the difference between those two subclients. They were configured automatically. I have found this in documentation:So in case that we would like to do Full Backup of All DBs i should use Dump Based Backup?But when creating backup for this subclient (Dump Based Backup)backup size is about 250mb… DB team checked server configuration and it said that DB is more then 3GB: Why there is such a difference in sizes? It was very first backup so i can not blame deduplication or so…  While trying to use other sublient FSBasedBackupSet I am having a error with log directory.This DB is not set to use any archive mode, so its in some kind of “simple recovery mode” and its not generating logs file.  So my questions are: Why ther

After DR

 Source DR DUMP : Clustered Commserve Destination Commserve : Single server DR restore status : Completed successfully. Issue : SSO is not working  Hi Team - We have done the DR restore from Windows cluster to standalone server, After DR all clients are communicating to the new commserver and we can able to run the backups and restores, But SSO is not working, which is configured on Old Cluster setup. Could you please help on this please.

[URGENT] Old Exchange Backup Restore Problem

Hey Guys! (CV240229-614 Incident already open, but no helpfull results so far)We need to restore mailboxes from 2015. We made in the past a HW SNAP, and copied the SNAP to Tape, where we have the Data now.When i start the Browse, open the Information store, all DBs have the Size 0kb, but that should be normal in this case.After i selected a DB file and started the recover database job, it goes instantly fail without doing anything. MSSQL SA User Password Invalid.

Hi Folks,I am trying to install Commvault 11.34 Trial on Windows 2019 Server. However, in the final stage of the installation process, Commvault is asking for the SQL Server sa user password. After changing the sa password several times using SQL server management studio, checking if the user logging is enabled, etc.. it’s still returning as invalid password. NOTE: The SQL server was installed by Commvault 11.34 installation package.How can I fix this issue?Thanks

Enable Root User after storage pool deletion

Is there a way to enable the Root User on a Hyperscale 1.5 node from command line? It was disabled when we deleted the storage pool and I was unaware we cannot run the umount command as the cvbackupadmin user.

 Hello, please, I need your help. I'm trying to add an ENDPOINT with Linux Mint 21.1 operating system locally, and when I try to install it, I get the following error. In the Commvault documentation, Linux Mint 21.1 is not listed as a supported operating system. However, I wanted to know if someone managed to install it or how I could proceed since the client only uses that operating system.

Cloud Account is not listed RDS SQL instances

Hi everyone please i need some help, i try to discovery RDS SQL instances but is not occurred.I have open many cases in support, and they work in issue but they are not finding a solution.All system requirements are OK, but what's even stranger is that it lists every other technology, just SQL, which doesn't.The message in cvd.log and the Command Center is: "All SQL Server instances are configured."i put the screen in attachWe have already exhausted all possibilities for resolving this problem.Pleeeeasee i need helpbest regards for all!!Sandro

Hello please help.I installed commvault for a client and I have to make ENDPOINT backups.When I add a laptop I get the following error message. I'm new to commvault, I really appreciate your help.Error code: [68:574]Description: Required media version [11.32] with transaction Id [5494260] is missing in the Software Cache. upgrade commserve from 11.30 to 11.32

Hello I have CS in 11.30.23 and MA in 11.30.52 (they both physical servers - windows 2012R2)and I want to upgrade to 11.32 version and the SQL you can see in the image that I attach below:Can I do the upgrade directly ?or maybe I need to upgrade the windows from 2012R2 to windows 2016?Thank you very much :)

Multiple Backup Copies for the same Snap Job

CV 11.32.43Recently upgraded from 28 to 32 and immediately noticed more than a single backup job running for the same snapshot.A little more context -  Run a full snapshot job on a VCenter Client, then a Backup Copy. Job started no problem.Few hours later, the automatic scheduled kicked in and another backup copy job on top of the one I started manually started as well (two running simultaneously for the same snap) - the new job, picked the VMs that were still waiting on the first job. While looking at the FR11.32 documentation I found the link below. Can someone confirm that this is correct link for what I`m experiencing?https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/managing_backups_based_on_snapshot_retention.htmlIf so, the article mentioned additional setting keys at the CommCell or Client / Group level which were never entered, would this be automatically turned on after the upgrade?Thanks in advance.

Unable to log into Commvault

Hi Folks,First, many thanks for the information here. I’ve solved a lot of issues just reading answers found here.Ok, here’s the rundown. We changed the Commcell service account password on the AD side. We thought we went into Commcell Console and updated the credential there. Everything was working fine, until a short time later and now we cannot login using our AD account (If I’m reading correctly, is that because the service account can no longer connect to the AD for an LDAP lookup?)Looking into the EvMgrS.log I can see this entry### EvSecurityMgr::userLogin() - processAdUser returned [-105], "Failed to connect to the domain server. How to display clients with backup activity disabled

Hello all!We are trying to create a group in Commvault for all hosts which have backup activity disabled.We do have found this setting: But a problem is that if machine contains agent backup types “inside” itself and backup is disbaled on agent level it won't show in this group. For example - if server SVR001 contains SQL and File System backup and we will disable ONLY File System backup on SVR001 it wont show in group which will be configured as screenshot above shows. My question is - how to show all disabled backups? No matter if backup is disabled at Client Level, or at agent level.

Commserve LiveSync in a HSX environment

Hello all,I just hit a situation. When trying to change the LiveSync default storage policy, documentation told me that the new user defined storage policy for the commserve livesync feature should be NON deduplicated.Happens that this environment has as storage options an HSX RA appliance and tape storage.HSX RA is per design a deduplicated storage pool.Has any one faced this situation? I did not want to create another disk pool to satisfy this NON deduplication necessity. Is there any way out?Regards,
