HiWe presently run Commvault version 11.28.36 For some backup tasks/jobs we are using domain accounts. If we update the password to one of these account in Active Directory where do we update the password for the account in Commvault so the task/jobs continue to run?Kind Regards Dean

Hi All, we are actually troubleshooting an perforamnce problem.  There is an Sync Copy top Tape ( LTO 8 )  2 Mediaagents in a ms csv cluster. When we use combinded streams 1 and multiplexing 1 we only get max 400GB/H troughput the normal jobs have 100GB/h mixed data.  If we increase the multiplexing to 8 and combided to streams 1 the performence grows up over 1500GB/h .  so i have 2 Questions: Is there an limitaion in the stream troughput ? So can 1 Stream only use x GB/h Wich impact has the multiplexing on tape for the DR Restore process, Does it realy impact the performance so the tape getting in wind/rewind process ?

HelloWwe are using optimazed scan for a windows server. But It crates a small database and this dataabse does low space on disk.This DB has been crates on E:\System Volume Information\Commvault\Data Classification   I have changed scan method as Recursive Scan and I have added this additional settings. But ITs still having space on disk. can you help how to delete is please?  

I'm currently installing Simpana 9 version on my Solaris client and using it.I reinstalled it a while ago due to a problem, and I haven't been able to back it up since then.Back-up content browsing is good, and scanning is good.But it's only not backing up. It's an unknown error.

Hello Commvault Community, Commvault enviroment version: SP34I would like to ask about the possibility of changing the Client Identifier (old Client Name) for the CommServe module.We have an environment that was migrated from the old one - Hardware Refresh, but the Client Name of the CommServe module that we wanted to change remained there. We used the key:bAllowModifyClientNamehttps://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22bAllowModifyClientName%22&id=12282 Unfortunately, this key doesn’t allow you to replace the Client Identifier for CommServe. I know this isn;t highly recommended, but is there any chance of changing this - through Commvault technical support? I'm asking because after Hardware Refresh we used the existing environment and backups by restoring from DR Backup with the CSRecoveryAssistant tool. After this operation, the Client Identifier was taken from DR Backup and doesn’t reflect the actual name of the CommServe module. Thanks in advance,Kami

i have file server where i am taking full vsa backup (included all drives)and for the same server am taking file system agent backup only for some drives ,does it consume double space from my storage ? will the deduplication work well with two type of backup

Dear Community,In a organization with 1GB network cross infrastructure, Im looking a way to redirect a backup traffic from a Client Server with 10GB lan → a Commvault MediaAgent also with 10GB LAN.This client has a huge Database and in order to proceed with backup, a 10GB interface network!Please for your recommendation / workaround in order to redirect the 10GB interface between the specific client ↔ MediaAgent,  which also has 1GB network (for the other backup jobs)!How can we ensure that database backups are routed through a specific 10GB network, considering that the communication between the ComCell and the client currently occurs over a separate 1GB network? Hi Team, I saved it as "Save as Script" and Synchronous for 2 separate Windows subclient via Commvault.Let's call them 1.bat and 2.bat.I also created a main.bat and made its content as follows.call 1.batcall 2.batI added Main.bat to the Pre Scan phase in another Windows subclient from the Commvault Console as "C:\CVScript\main.bat".Our expectation was this: main.bat will be triggered by Commvault and first the 1st bat will run, the backup will be completed and then the 2nd bat will run and the backup will be completed. After this, the Pre Scan phase will be completed.Currently, the Pre Scan phase is running, main.bat is running and is completed in 3 seconds, but the 1st and 2nd bats in its content cannot be run. It actually needs to run for about 9 hours.When I manually trigger Main.bat, it works as expected.Does anyone have an idea ?

Anyone have setup a lab Commserve on a virtual box VM. Mine has a very high cpu and memory usage despite no backups running.I wonder if you guys have setup one before and was able to tweak so it does not consume a lot of cpu and memory even when its idleThis is Commvault v11.32 with the latest hotfix pack already.This is running Server 2019 with SQL server 2019 as the SQL backend for Commvaultrunning this on a makeshift virtual box VMThanks for any tips and tricks you can provide

We use Oracle on a Linux servers. The Linux teams installs the Oracle agent for us.All Linux servers are VMware servers. When we check the Java Console. Sometimes we only see the Oracle agent and the other time we see Oracle agent and Virtual server.What is happening here.Perhaps Commvault installs the agent voor VMware/ Oracle application Aware backup?Can anyone help? 

Hi,I found the bellow settings for a couple of Windows File System subclients.After reading https://documentation.commvault.com/11.16/subclient_properties_retention.html. Am I to understand the Minimum retention based on file modification time’s “Retain objects indefinitely” as the objects will never be aged and never get to the Deleted item retention?Eg. if File1 is created and changed and three months later deleted. It will still exist in the store 3 years after deletion time….  

So I`m working on permissions and making sure users only have access to the appropriate entities and interfaces.We are AD Integrated and so all users have access to the “My data” via webconsole which is intended and works fine - Our administrators have access to everything and perform multiple backup operations throughout the day.Since all users (admins and non-admins) are AD integrated, when I go to Command Center and select Domain Users and Restricted Consoles, add CommandCenter, CommCell Console, API etc, and hit ok - our Admins even though they are part of another group without the regular restrictions applied to regular users, they too lose access to the mentioned consoles. It kind makes sense, it applies the most restrictive permission to all Domain Users.Any alternative here to exclude those admins from getting restricted by that Console Restriction within the domain users group?We do not want to create local admin accounts.https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/res

Hello Guys :)  @large environments: How do you monitor (proactive) CommVault - CommServe, MediaAgents, xAgents, Jobs, Logs, Dedup Engine/Performance, Alerts, Reports, ... and so on? I've used Nagios with checkmk. But what is the current  "state of the art"? Buzzword AI. For example, I like how Azure is handling all the metrics, and can solve some problems by itself or can give you useful informations, can trigger events/processes, can "learn” - and for example, can create trouble tickets or something similar. Which tool makes your life easier? Grafana? Excited about your feedback(s) :). Cheers!
