We normally order LTO-7 “Type M” formatted tapes. We have a partial shipment came in that is only LTO-7 formatted not ‘Type-M’ (per the label, these have L7 at the end of the label), BUT the tape properties of these tapes (as seen in Commvault) say "Type" and "Format" on the media indicates ULRIUM-V8.I want to “prove” CommVault will not have any issues with some tapes we received when it tries to write to them. Currently we now have a mix in our library of these L7 tapes and unused/half full M8 tapes, which is why I wanted to have proof by actually having CommVault pick the L7 tape and write data to it.I tried doing a “Verify” on the tape (not the drive) and CommVault has this in the job logs, which makes me think CommVault will not use these tapes as they may have already been Type-M formatted, but mislabeled with a LTO-7 label?"The verify response string is [Media in library [TPO Tape Library], slot [slot 51] does not have a valid media label which means that it was not written to by

We’ve got several systems that backup a single drive. There are several mount points within that drive.Is there a way to figure out the backup duration for individual mount points instead of the whole backup job?I haven^t found any hints in the logs yet.

Hello, I need different retention perido for onsite/offsite copy using DD replication.I will be using ddboost through media agent.So to do this i just need to create ddboost replication pair on data domain and configure aux copy as usual on commvault? 

Looking to upgrade Commvault with inplace OS Upgrade as well as upgrading MSSQL install during CV Upgrade.The Order of operation i have come up with is:Upgrade Windows Server from 2012R2 to 2019 (inplace) following docs provided here: Performing a Seamless Upgrade on a CommServe Computer (commvault.com) Upgrade MSSQL and CV (from SP16 to 11.24/2022E then to 11.32 (LTS). Questions I have: Are Windows Server 2019 and SP16 compatible? Can I do an inplace upgrade of CV and MSSQL at the same time? Will Components such as the Webserver, Mail Archive Server and Media Agents (on seperate Servers running SP16) still work with the CS being on 11.24/11.32? Happy to hear any advice on this. Cheers,Philip

Hello All,we are using validate restore workflow. I can use it and it works succesfully. I am admin in our Commvault enviroenment. We have some users who do restore tests. I gave them the following roles. but when they execute the workflow. I have installed SQL server agent into windows server.While installing the SQL server agent, File System core and File system are installed automatically.After the installation, I couldn’t see the File system agent in the client.All I could see is the SQL server agent.But if I check the installed software, I can see the File system is installed.

Hi Team, Can we see in the log file whether Deduplication and Compression are performed on the Client or the Media Agent?We changed Deduplication and Compression to be done in Media Agent via subclient, but we want to see this in the log file as well.

Hello Commvault,Lets assume we have a Primary Storage Policy with 14 days retention and extended rules, 90 days for Weekly Full. In case of 2nd aux copy, to Storage Policy (Azure Storage Account) with WORM Storage Lock enabled and 30 days of retention, I am wondering what happened with the GFS backup?OK, I see the retention is for 30 days (initial configuration), but the extended retention for Weekly Full are missing (from Primary Storage policy)!So, what happened with them? WORM Storage Lock has only 1 retention?How you are going to protect the rest GFS backup jobs?Please for your feedback,Nikos

Is it possible to restore AD-Objects to a different OU than they were originally?

Since upgrading to SP32.28 we are seeing issues with VMware reporting disk consolidation needed. Prior to SP32 when a snapshot removal succeeded but disk consolidation failed Commvault would trigger additional disk consolidation task.  Now the snapshot removes, reports disk consolidation is needed but nothing is automatically triggered to clean it up. Check if the Client has a valid Certificate. client  shows Not Ready Status Has anyone ever seen this? If so is it a CV error or is there something the SQL ADMIN has to check on their side?
