I’m currently testing the automatic VM Validation Feature and so far it looks good.The only thing I’m wondering is if there’s an option to send a mail/report with the results of the validation.Since we could use this to automate VM Backup validations and as some “evidence” for auditing purposes, this would be incredibly helpful.In the Job Details in the Command Center it shows the different phases and whether or not it was successful, but I don’t want to have to check manually.Is that possible?

With a Tape Library of 8 Drives, I wanted to force the Tape Aux Copy  to a single Drive        This will be for only one Storage Policy XYZ (out of 30 or so SP’s)        and for only  a single Storage Policy Copy ABC (within SP XYZ) There are multiple Tape Storage Pools set up   eg POOL-N, POOL-O, POOL-P,   … POOL-X Storage Policy Copy ABC used POOL-XI had hoped that setting the Device streams to 1, but this still results in multiple drives being used  If I run a manual AUX Copy, for Storage Policy XYZ, for copy ABC and set the number of readers to 1, that works fine - as I’ve limited the stream to 1 ‘at the source’’, meaning there can never be more than 1 stream at the target - and therefore 1 tape used I could create new AUX Schedules an change the AUX Job options for just that schedule and apply that schedule to to just the AUX Copies where I want to use a single DriveBut that will be messy I could also limit the stream to 1 (combine stream)  on the disk source copy that then feeds

Hi Commvault gurus! Since we changed the deduplication setting from 'on Client' to 'on Media Agent' for Virtual Server Backups, we have noticed a significant increase in backup speed, roughly three times faster. I have a few questions to clarify this topic. Firstly, does 'deduplication on Client' refer to deduplication on the Virtual Server Agent (proxy), even when using SAN mode? In SAN mode, the data should be sent directly from one datastore (storage array) to another without involvement from other backup devices, correct? Similarly, for NDMP backups, where does the 'deduplication on Client' occur? I found a useful thread discussing this topic (see below), but I would appreciate explicit answers to my questions." 

All, what is best practice for the SQL install when deploying CommServe? If I were deploying a high performance SQL installation I would typically put OS, SQL DB, SQL Logs, Temp DB all on separate disks (not partitions on same disk). Is this best practice, desirable or even do-able with CommServe?

HelloI have in place many Intellisnap backups and every backup (Netapp snapshot) is replicated onto a secondary Netapp with Snapvault.Now I must replace the current secondary Netapp with a new one maintaining all the current backups (snapshots) on the new secondary NetappWhat is the best approach ?RegardsFederico

Hi,Currently we are running an M365 backup job using Azure Active directory and it is stuck at 84% since last 3 days. The status is showing as running. We are unable to figure out why its stuck here for so long? Any thoughts?

 Hi Everyone, i am trying to understand when a backup copy job run what exactly it is doing  and if it slow down the network. My Snap copy for VM are slow they finish between one and three minutes but backup copy job are taking hours like 1 to 4 hours. i thought NETAPP take the snap first as NetApp reach out to the client get the snap and save it with itself than CV reach out to NetApp for the that snap to make a backup copy.When CV asked for backup copy from NetApp does NetApp reach out to the client again to grab the data?  etwork in my inviorment

Hi,we backup our Exchange 2016 server with virtual server agent (vSphere, full VM backup) and with Exchange database agent.When i backup data from Exchange database agent to a WORM tape is it possible to restore single items?Or only the complete database?RegardsDennis 

Hi,The storage we created for the backup copy is running out of space. We shortened the retention period, but it didn't clean, now we get an error and we don't copy our backups.Can we connect and check each other? Thanks

Hi All,we are configuring CommVault for the first time to take backup of Mailboxes using Azure Active Directory. The authentication is successful however we are still getting the error “Insufficient privileges to complete the operation. ErrorCode: Authorization_RequestDenied”.The Service account is a Global Admin account, unable to identify the root cause. It seems there is Authorization issue however all required permissions granted to the application.

We recently have implemented Commvault backup for MS SQL servers. Most of the backups are using the default subclient.However, I have run across some reading previously that for big and/or critical database like 1 TB in size, it would be good idea to create additional subclient. I think something if backup fails, it has something to do with restart all databases again? Is that correct? Can someone shed some lights on this?Let’s say I have 30 databases in a server, if one fails backup, the other 29 needs to be rerun from the start?Please adviseThanks

Hi Team, i am just wondering what this setting will excactly do as there is nothing mentioned in the Documentation.If disabled will there only be the Metadata Updated in the Filesystem.?Not like if enabled the data will be read from Library and written again to Library as a Data Verification. Maybe someone can confirm or deny. thanks

 Hi teamI have installed DAG Exchange 2019 servers on Vmware virtaul machines. Is it possible to use intellisnap functionality in this setup to backup (snap) exchange databases ? I have checked that VMware VM image backup and also Exchange database agent are supported for intellisnap and all requrements (separatelly) are met.But what if Exchange DAG is installed on Vmware environment ?I would not use “application aware” backup because of limited functionality of databse backup in that case. I want to use Exchange Database Agent backup fully configured inside DAG servers and runing beside of vm image backups.Thanks for all advices.

Hi Community,We have a use case for single instance InfluxDB servers that will reside on VMs on-prem, with the possibility of including the software clustered on-prem also in the future.As far as I can tell there is no information to backup InfluxDB that I can find in our CMV DOCS or on this Community forum, does anyone use this and have some good recommendation.The influxDB comes with backup and recovery tool sets, so I would imagine using the tools to create backups and ingesting the folders into Commvault via file backups frequently might only the be the case  here, and couple that with a VM backup of the OS vDisk.Anyone lese have a view or working scenarios with decent RPO?Thx for any replies

We have a CommServe and Media Agent on a same windows server. Just we want install another CommServe in same environment to configure automatic HA. If the active CommServe failed or any disaster, then another CommServe will takeover automatically.How can we configure the automatic HA along with CommServe and also Media Agent?
