Hello Commvault Community, We have an environment that is based on several data centers in different locations around the world. Aux Copy performs correctly and on the fly, while I would like to ask if there is any way to speed up this process? The situation is as follows: In general, latency between sites is generally high, about 25-30ms, throughput is somewhere between 20-50gb/hr for AuxCopy jobs, sometimes faster. Is it not possible to split such AuxCopy into more minor sub-jobs? If more streams are used in parallel, latency will be less of a problem. We have already studied the topic of Scalable Resource Allocation, but here this Batch Size will not help us, because here isn’t a large number of jobs to be copied and we are concerned only with improving the performance of this process.  Thank you in advance for your help on this topic.Kind RegardsKamil 

I have 2 IBM tape drives i want to backup to seperate tape media for example, Monday full  backup to  Media 1 Tuesday full  backup to media 2 Wednesday full  backup to media 3 And I want this cycle to go like this. all monday backups to media  1   all tuesday backups to media 2  and so onIs it possible to take tape backup  like this

Hi All,Currently we backup Oracle 19c Database using Commvault and size DB full backup around 65 TB.For daily incremental , we enable block change tracking for fast backup duration. This oracle run in Red Hat OS.My Question:1-How to restore the oracle DB when block change tracking enable ? it is required any additional setting need to do during restoration activity?2- Its is required to backup change block tracking file? and its use during restore?3- Method to restore : Full > Incremental > Archive log right?4-Any Knowledge Based (KB) or URL from Commvault can we refer?Thanks and Help Me.

Hello, I want to use PowerBI to retrieve data from Commvault Cloud SaaS plateform but even after reading the documentation from API portal and tried to connect to the URL with a specific user I didn’t make it work.Does anyone already use a custom query into PowerBI to get access to Commvault platform through API ?I don’t need help about transforming the data but just to understand how to connect to the API it seems that there is no token, I need to use a username and password to my metallic.io URL but it’s unfortunately not clear. Thanks for your help. Benjamin

Hello,We would like to upgrade our CommVault installation 11.25 to latest 11.32 release.Is it possible to make a direct upgrade ?  When i try to download the software from GUI Console, the latest feature release that can i choose is 11.26 ? I cannot choose 11.32 in the list. What can i do to obtain the latest release from Gui commvault console ?  Is it necessary to upgrade to 11.26 and after to 11.32 ?  We use SQL Server 2016, is there an automatic ugrade to SQL 2019 including in the 11.32 installer ? Thanks

Hi We have two site main DC and DR site and I want to replicate a vm from DC to DR and we have mediaagent on both site.What is happening right now is when replication happen it first take backup (dedupe) and then restore from backup to DR site and while restoring process full vm original size and it is choking the bandwidthThen i take the call with support and he suggested to check the “replicate using secondary copy option” and choose DR mediaagent as storage in secondary copyNow when replication trigger it first take backup in main DC site then aux copy trigger from DC  to DR site then replication happen but it still restoring the vm from main DC not DR. Can anyone help here?

Hi, we want to use the test for tape drive to troubleshoot auxcopy performance issue.  In the documentation Validating a Drive (commvault.com) i dont find infos regarding this points: Where are the chunks stored for this tape on the mediaagent wich settings are the best to simulate and vsa auxcopy to tape

Im trying to restore a Windows 2012 server that was backed up on an old vmware VCENTER. I am getting the error Error Code 23:10 Error while reading pipeline buffer from MediaAgent (commvault.com) - How can I “Change the network adapter of the virtual machine to vmxnet3” on a server that is backed up? During the restore, I change the vcenter to the new vcenter using the same datastore, ESX and Media Agent servers. It fails almost right away. Is there another way to get the backup? 

I’ve been tasked with upgrading our Commserve from v9.0.0 R2 to v11.32. Is there any specific upgrade path or can I jump directly to v11.32?  TIA

So for the last couple weeks, we've been seeing an add error ("Mount Error") with our media agent and its fiber connected drives:  Media Label:  CV_MAGNETICFailure Reason:  "A file with the same name already exists.  Cannot create a new file"Information:  We have new equipment on order to replace this server.  But for the moment, we have an 8 gib fiber connection to carry everything in and out of this system (IP traffic, fiber connected drives (25+).  It's pretty clear to me that the pipe is full.  But, we've never seen this issue before.  Unfortuantely, it doesn’t have an error code, it appears to be a straight up “hey, something’s wrong with your datastore where you save I’ve got a ticket in regarding the error.  Anyone else have any clues about how we should look at this?  I”m not sure which log to start with as there isn’t an error code to start me off. 

All my workflows will start but stay on the submission page until the workflow completes.What am I doing wrong?I want to enter the options for the workflow and then have it return the jobid. Thanks.

Hello Community,I’m currently in the process of migrating archive backups to Azure using Azure Data Box. I have a specific question regarding the overall size of data after migration. Could someone provide insights into whether there might be any changes to the data size during this process? If so, what kind of differences should I take into account? The Azure Data Box is attached as copy to storage policies with deduplication active.Migration is from Azure DATA Box -> Azure Storage Account Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hi All, Our environment is a mid size enterprise setup, we have around 250 servers hosted on On-Prem and Azure. We have configured sync copy to azure with retentions of 10 years for the On-Prem servers and for servers on Azure we have just 1 copy of backup. We would like to have immutable copy on azure and worm protection in commvault. It would be really grateful if anyone can list down the steps and precautions to be taken along with price calculator. We would like to have a weekly full backup with 14 days retention and 2 cycles on this copy.We would also like to know if deduplication is supported? and what preferred storage type (Hot/Cold) on Azure is preferred.Can we use existing media agent which is being used for Sync copy to perform the copy on this selective copy?Does this solution offer a complete end to end protection from cyber attack/ransomware?

Hello,We are having two physical media agents with shared disk library (CIFS) and tape library connected to them. We want to virtualize these media agents, however, after virtualizing we want to run the existing physical MAs for some time due to backup retention on the tape library.We want to setup new virtual MA, migrate the DDB & IndexCache to new virtual. Now the existing physical media is left with the tape library and no DDB/Index. Is it possible to perform restores from the tape library using these physical MAs?Idea is to run the new backups using virtual MAs and turn the physical MAs off when retention on the tape library expires. Thanks.

we are doing Planned Failover for Vmware to Hyperv Migration Activity  ,but we are seeing missed VMs in target host ,after failover job completed,multiple missing VMs  are created  for single VM  how to overcome this issue , is there any way we can prevent this missing VMs .

Dear Community ,  Install the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) on at least one Oracle Cloud Infrastructure instance. You can install the VSA on other machines to create additional VSA proxies. At least one VSA proxy is needed. what is access needed from proxy, if there are private and public connection, do we need access to manager and vm subnets ? Identify the Oracle Cloud Identifier (OCID) for the tenant and for the admin user for the hypervisor. can anyone help how can we do this  Add required permissions for the OCID tenant and user.any link to refer creating user with required permssion  Create a folder (called base_folder\certificates\external\ for Windows proxies, or called base_folder/certificates/external/ folder for Linux proxies) on the VSA proxy instance. Obtain the private key, password, and fingerprint for the private key, and then copy the private key to the newly created folder. Hello,I have an AWS infrastructure and some times many instances are stopped for maintenance. I search to get the state (stopped / running) of the EC2 from commvault in order to move it in a group of EC2 instance stopped in order to disbale backup. I think i can get the tag of the EC2 instance but i dont’t know how to connect commvaut & AWsThank you for yyour response.
