Im trying to recover a document that seems to be on an older tapeIs there a way i can identify which tape it is stored on from the document information?

We are planning to upgrade from 11.28.xx to 11.32.xx soon.  Recently during a separate event, I was told that when we upgrade to 11.32, the INDEX FS increases dramatically.  Does anyone know more information on this so we can plan for the increase? 

We need to conduct the POC for this scenario, need input / suggestion's.The costumer want to setup a DR replication using Commvault auto recovery option. The primary site is using vmware and the DR is hosted in azure cloud. Here have been some challenges with the existing setup few of the serves were running with legacy OS like Win2003 and Oracle RHEL. As we aware win2003 is not supported on Azure platform and the costumer is not ready to upgrade to latest OS.  In this case is there any alternative option we can use to replicated the on prem workloads to Azure. I would appreciate for your suggestions. Thanks 

Hello All,We are using Linux Media Agents, on of the sudden media agent went offline with some communication issue with the ports 8400 & 8403 (we are using for communication) and there is no changes from server end.After restarting the CV services, it was back again, but we need to know that what is the reason it is going offline? which log to refer the check the actual issue, I have checked cvd.log, cvfwd.log but can’t find anything.Did anyone know, how can we exactly point to the issue with a log or event?

Hi everybody,I get a message from the tape library that there are no free/spare tapes left (see first picture below).Can somebody tell me how can I use the aged tapes again and what I need to click to mark them usable again? In the picture below you can see that I have no spares, but in scratch pool (Media in the Library) there are many tapes that no longer have any data (see photo below). How can I mark one of them and assign it for reuse?It would be a great help to me if someone could tell me how I can use the aged tapes again.

I am planning to migrate the media agent and disk library to a new setup. The current media agents and disk library contain backups with a six-month retention period. If I perform an auxiliary copy to the new storage, which is connected to the new media agent, will restoring old backups become an issue? Will it require access to the deduplication database of the old media agent? Or does the deduplicated data also copy with auxiliary copy?

Hope to find you in a good shape!In our environment, we are struggling with a problem of NDMP backups on NetApp devices.*It was working just fine before, then just started to act like described below. We do have a couple of subclients/paths configured, and they are randomly failing. No matter if it is Full or Incremental backup, no matter the which backup in a row. Sometimes same subclient might complete few backup in a row, but another one fails. There is no patter, random subclients with a random data amount. Hello,Recently, our customer started to successively remove old .NET libraries from the commvault server. After each library was removed, the operation of the CommVault mail archive was tested. In the end, from the group of .NET Core libraries, the .NET Core 2.1.5 library failed to reinstall. After replacing it with another, newer version, the mail archive stops working.The .NET Core versions tested were 3.1.19, 6.0.1, 6.0.16, 6.0.31.Is there any way to replace the .NET Core 2.1.5 library with another current version? Regards,Michał

Hi, What would be the best way to move forward with a mySQL backup/restore when the traditional backup/restore have slow performance?  Backup is decent but restore of a few GB in a single table takes hours to complete. So, with restore performance in mind, would it be best to update the license model to enable Enterprise SBT-bases backups? Or would a block-based backup be the best way to go? /Patrik

Hello community,11.33.45Trying to configure the Oracle RAC Client for Unified Data Guard and reaching the point of setting up streams.The documentation states: "The archivelog subclient for the primary site should have streams configured only for the primary nodes; the streams for the remaining nodes should be set to 0. For the standby site, configure streams for the standby nodes only and set the remaining node streams to 0 in that standby archivelog subclient. " Question:Should this configuration be done at the RAC subclient level or at the physical node level? :If configured at the RAC subclient level, streams will be set to a value for primary nodes and 0 for remaining nodes. However, after failover, when the standby site takes over backup, since its stream is set to zero, the backup won't run... If streams are set at the physical node level, can the primary node see the standby node?  Morning All,We recently upgrade our environment to 11.32.20 from 11.28.68, post update our clients are unable to perform guest file browse operations from the Admin Console. Prior to the upgrade clients were able to perform these operations without issue. Hi, Can we generate the report for a storage policy to see how much data written daily?For example, I have a storage policy that is scheduled for incremental from Monday to Thursday, and a full on Friday. Hi allI have a question about the running of parallel aux copy tasks - why two parallel tasks do not execute one after the other. After reaching approximately 80%, the job stops, then enters the "Waiting" state and the second aux copy job is started.Details:Commvault version 11.32Tasks start at the same time (same Schedule Policy)The same Global Secondary Copy PolicyUse Scalable Resource Allocation - Yes (in 11.28 it could be turned off and the tasks ran sequentially) The copy is transferred to the tape library The library has two drives but only one is used (GSC settings - device streams: 1 - this is a consciously set parameter) Priority 266 Is it possible to make some setting so that the first task ends and then starts the second one? Thank you all in advance for any tips.   

Hey, i would like to restore a VMDK file directly to a datastore from a Hypervisor (VMWare) without attaching it to a VM. Am I just unable to find the function, or can Commvault really only restore single VMDK files on a MediaAgent or directly on a datastore with the requirement to attach them to a VM?Shouldn’t be this a easy implementation as the process already exist (Restore Disk to VM). Just removing the attache step. 

Hi All, If backup job or aux job Status display Waiting due to library offline. will waiting job expire and kill by auto if waiting a long period? If yes, which setting control? if the library online again after a few days, will waiting job continue start backup? Best regards  

I have uninstalled all client agents from a host, the upgrade status shows as not applicable.The client now only has VM agent backups occurring. While all other VM backup clients show v 11.00, these clients still retain the agent version. Is there any way to resolve this as it is ruining day.

Hi All,If I have a VM client being backed up with the VSA agent and it also has the SQL agent installed on it, how would I go about excluding the SQL databases from the the VM backup? Thanks!

HiBeen plagued with this problem for a while. Support has not been able to crack it yet either. I have 4 Media Agents and 2 are using CBT and crash consistent backup options for the Intellisnap and work fine. The other 2 Media agents are also using CBT but using Application Consistent (quiesced backup) backup options for Intellisnap and these Media Agents will sometimes freeze up the Virtual Disk Service and the backupcopy fails for the remainder of the backup copies. I cannot open the process manager on the MA’s when this happens and end up have to reboot the MA to get things back on track. Not a lot of info but chucking this one out there to see if anyone had a similar experience.

Have 5 media agents in our environment that need to be renamed which would include a different FQDN for the DNS and also new ip address.  What is the best practice since some of these media agents also have DDB’s on SSD drives. Thanks
