We noticed on a RHEL8.7 build with a local disklib & ransomware enabled that it breaks xfs utils.Opened a case with RH support. They said for mount options “try context=unconfined_u:object_r:user_home_dir_t:s0” instead of the recommended “context=system_u:object_r:cvstorage_t:s0”, which does fix the issue with xfs commands. Now they are asking me to ask you all do other customers have the same experience? Or, they suggested use the context that “allows xfs to work” to which I replied “I have no idea but this is what the script sets up”.Basically if you setup a diskib using xfs (not NFS or S3 obviously), simply try to run xfs_info or xfs_growfs, can’t be done. The workaround I found if I need to grow the FS is stop service, remount without ransomware context in place (or use their options), fiddle with xfs, then remount with proper context.  Looking for some way to fix rather than workaround but they seem firm in “it’s not a problem” with selinux or xfs, it’s the wa

Hello,In my WebConsole of CommVault, we have 4712 Kubernates applications.So, in Databricks, I’ve written this codeapplicationCount is 5757.Now, the json returned is made from 2 keysapplicationCount that is an int applications  that is a list of dictionariesso, in json_kubernates I should have 5757 dictionaries, instead I’ve got 100.From API documentation, there is no pagination and about the user we tested it between master user and my user they can see the same clients. Can you help me in understanding why it is doing that?

Dear friends,I need your valuable assistance with a technical matter. I have a Plan associated with a Storage Policy, which includes a primary copy to disk. Within this policy, there are various jobs with different dates, some related to virtual machines, and others to SQL Server databases.My goal is to create a secondary copy exclusively for the SQL Server jobs and restrict it to specific recent dates. However, when attempting to run this secondary copy for the desired date range, the initiated job doesn't seem to capture any data, and it does not appear in the list of jobs to copy.I have attached images in the order of how I perform the procedure. If any of you can provide guidance or assistance on this matter, I would greatly appreciate it.😊✌🏻

Hi, I have a three node HSX Reference Architecture stack.On one of the nodes the network card has failed. On this card one port is connected to the Production LAN and the other to the Storage. The node has two network cards configured so my node is still up. I have ordered a new network card but my question is, do I need to do anything after I replace it or will it just be added back to the Bonds ? Thanks 

Hello friends,Trying to install first time media agent on active directory server ( newly promoted additional domain controller 2019 server ) .In the credentials section, providing domainname\<domainadmin> and the password  and also tried domainname\<administrator> and password but the installation fails with the message.“Failed to install File System Core Package, the credentials entered may not have permission to use WMI on remote machine. Please check WMI configuration and user credentials.while I installed the agent easily for another windows server 2019 joined to domain by using local credentials of the server.”Where am I going wrong. tried even using .\administrator and the password but it makes reason to fail as the server once promoted to domain controller will no longer hold local admin.Any help will be appreciated.

is there a way i could run a report to find out how much space a full monthly or yearly backup is taking up in  terms of storage space requirements. 

Hi All,I have read all the threads about to check DDB version V4 r V5, but there is no exact answer for checking the DDB version precisely. The threads are old 1 year or more, in the mean time is there any way to view the DDB version V4 or V5 anywhere?i ran the ConvertDDBToV5 workflow but i it says there is nothing to upgrade.Also verifed Dedup properties, the garbage collection option is greyed out.Hence, i would like to know whether my DDB is updated to V5 and why the garbage collection option is greyed out?Thank you in advance

Hi All, short question regardin the point Bandwidth Throttling for a Storage Policy Copy Setting Network Bandwidth Throttling for a Storage Policy Copy (commvault.com) I want to undersatnd what happend when an auxcopy job starts.  So in normal case without throttelling we reach 500MB/s during auxcopy between 2 DCs over wan. When the auxcopy job starts we see in the firewall the traffic grows up until the wan connection is done.  So when i now throttel the auxcopy to 200MB/s per second we the a lot of peaks in the firewall when the auxcopy job is started. Than it goes down.  My question is: When the auxcopy job starts all streams nad the most getted performance is allocated and that the function with the throttel on

I’m integrating CommVault API in order to have all client ( VM, client which make backup and Kubernates Application) in a single dataframe./client route returns hostName,clientName,displayName/VM  returns several information of which returns clientName,displayName but not HostName/v4/Kubernetes/Applications return several information of which name but not displayName and HostNameWhile I know that a VM may not have a phisical hostName and kubernates Applications may not have an hostName since it’s dockerized containers, it is possible to have the hostName for Kubernates and VMs?/client has all 3 name columns(hostName,clientName,displayName)/VM has 2 name columns(clientName,displayName)/Applications has only one name column (name)Or, I can do the assumption thatVM Client Name can be added to hostnameKubernates application names can be considere

Hello Experts,I am trying to backup an instance in openstack on cinder volume. Getting below error Insufficient cinder quota for instance, Failed to meet minimum 10 percent available quota limit. Available: 8157 GB, Required: 30924 GB, In-Use: 301091 GB (out of 309248) As you see, my cinder volume is 300 TB of which current free is 8 TB. Commvault is trying to check 10% free space and fails. I know in vmware we can decrease the threshold check, I am unable to find this for openstack virtualization? I just need to backup a small instance (few GBs) hence if there is a way to reduce threshold for space check please share

HiI created a backup job for a VM with deduplication enabled at subclient level selected as “on the client”. Enabled Versioning on the bucket configuration. Took FULL backup twice. But it didn’t create versions of the same backup.Later, I ingested some files inside the VM and retook the FULL backup. Still, No versions created at the bucket level.I then disabled deduplication at the subclient level, retook the full VM backup, it creates more folders in the bucket everytime I initiate backup job.Questions:Does Commvault even leverage versioning feature of the S3 Compatible Storage? If yes, how ? If no, then is it safe to say we can keep it disabled with S3 overwrite enabled? How are more folders getting created when I disable deduplication and taking multiple FULL  backups of the same VM (no modification to the file system or anything)? Hi, Can we run content indexing/analyzer while doing an aux copy from tape to cloud OR if we can restore indices from tape media to local disk and gain access to file level analytics reports ?Well, i’m looking to move all tape data from on-prem (tape) aux-copy to S3 deep glacier archival for long term storage. Before moving the data, I need to get file level details so incase if we need to restore we have the details. (I would like to go direct to glacier due to the chunk size being larger and not stage it to on-prem or normal s3 bucket.) Another method/suggestion to index information post aux copy or reading from tape would be good to know.Thanks !

I am trying to create a workflow to run multiple VSA backups through workflow by just selecting the client from the list. For VSA backup it is not working. Same is working for File System level backup. Is there some limitation to run for VSA backup? If yes, what is the easiest way to achieve this. Tried from Rest API as well but we need to give vm name and client name which becomes a bit complex.

However, once login to the CommCell Console, we received a message indicating that the DDB was currently undergoing maintenance and required the completion of maintenance operations such as DDB resynchronization and conversion to a transactional DDB, among others.we have 2 DDBs, and the "convertddbTov5" plan indicates that there are 2 Memdb that need to be converted to version 5. Questions:  if the DDB resynchronization will function as expected after the CS hardware refresh, as two of the DDBs are MemDBs that will need to be converted to V5 after the successful hardware refresh and DDB resynchronization. Which logs will display the DDB resynchronization status and process, does "sidbengine.log"? if the DDB resynchronization or the

I’m a fan of the Console but I’m told it is no longer going to be supported. I’ve been instructed that I need to stop using the Console in favor of Command Center. Just a couple questions about that though.Do I need to recreate my configuration as Plans on the interface? I’m finding that my Console jobs are running, and I can manage the job, but I don’t seem to be able to make changes to things like policies.If I do setup plans and get everything going in the Command Center, will that override the Console settings? Do I need to do anything in the Console other than to stop using it?I’m also open to any suggestions, tips, etc. that you can provide.

Hello All We take adhoc backups every day for patching activities and we search for each and every client in Command Center and trigger incremental backups for those clients(more than 100 every day). Is there a way that we can trigger the backup for these clients using RESTAPI. Foreach through these clients and trigger the incremental backup. I was able to authenticate and generate the authentication token but cannot trigger the backups for those clients. Its my first time with RESTAPIs. Would be grateful if someone can point in the right direction. I am using PoweShell. Thanks

Hi,Currently this is the only 2 options available for Agent types in our Restore job history.Seems there’s no option to select other agents unless you use the Java GUI built in reports.

Hi Vaulters, Regarding SAP HANA, we’ve got two sites, first one being replicating its SAP HANA to the second (using HANA replication). With commvault, how can we manage this type of scenario ? Do we only need to back up data in the first site, or do we need to implement another MA on the second site to back up the replicated data also ? It's more of a design concern. Any provided suggestion would be appreciated. Regards.
