  Dears,I am trying to add a standalone Hyper-V host (not joined to a domain) into Commvault, but I am facing issues with the credentials during the hypervisor configuration.The Hyper-V host is not part of the domain, so I entered the hostname, local administrator username, and password.I also added the Hyper-V host and Commvault server entries to the hosts file on all related servers.However, the system fails during the connection and validation process.Below is the exact error message:Failed to connect to virtual machine host [CommvaultSVR.xxxxxxxxxxx.com] as user [.\Administrator] from access node [commvaultsvr]. Please ensure that the access node is able to communicate with the host and that the user account and password are correct.I would appreciate your assistance in identifying why the access node cannot authenticate to the standalone Hyper-V host and how to resolve this credential/communication issue.Thank you.

Hello,I’m trying to back up Netapp CIFS share with the Hyperscale as access node The hyperScale have  11.36 with ISO 3.2506I cant choose the HSX as access node while browsing the content and the back up failed with “Failed to mount file share volume“the HSX has cifs-utils installed and samba-client installedAM I missing someting that is required for CIFS backup with Hyperscale X as access node?

HiI am trying to install an FS agent on Centos 5.4.With an agent V11SP28: I get an error saying ‘could not find any installer to use’.With a V11SP21 agent: the installation gets stuck: Using update installer Bits/linux-x86/LooseUpdates/CU24/linux-glibc2.3/installer/newinstall.gz:I don't know if these two agent versions are compatible with Linux 5. Thanks

Hi All, I am having some challenges protecting a multi-instance DB2 configuration. The below error is thrown: Db2 vendor library reported an error:[ ---- error report ---- app. message = backing up the database line = 6198 file = ClDb2AgentLib.cpp SQLCODE = -2079 SQL2079N An error was reported by the shared library "/opt/Commvault/commvault2/Base64/libDb2Sbt.so". I ask because how is this achieved if a different user and group own the each DB2 instances? We have been experiencing checkpoint backup failures for VMs on Hyper-V Failover cluster. The CSVFS volume is having 30% free space. How much is the free space needed for the VSA backups to complete for Microsoft Hyper-V Virtual machines. In VMware it is recommended to keep 10% free space on the datastore.

Hi all,We encrypted our databases with TDE in a pilot project and figured that Commvault SQL module makes the backup 8 times larger compared database dump on the disk (SQL 2016, compression enabled).What is recommended Commvault configuration so that we retain the size SQL Server can achieve? We moved from filesystem backup to native backup few years ago and currently it looks like we need to move back! Has anyone implemented this with good results, please? Thank you.

I have 2 media agents connected to tape library with 8 drives… and they both host a Plan and I can’t seem to have the aux copies to tape to use more than one drive. Each plan has 30 Streams and the aux copies use the primary copy as the source copyEach also have an aux copy going to the other one (01 to 02 and 02 to 01) . In the media tab, I’ve combined source data streams to 2 and I did not multiplex..Should I use the second copy as the source for the tape copy then?I find this whole part a bit confusingthxG

hello,i m planning a CommServe + Media Agent  all in one migration with hardware refresh, OS change (Windows → Linux), and version upgrade (11.28 → 11.40 LTS)I m want to migrate on linux because the windows version is depreciate.Can you advise me on the steps to take during the migration ?I would like to use the bare-metal version of Commvault 11.40 LTS, or would you advise me to reinstall using Rocky Linux and then install CommServe + Media Agent ?Thank you for your help

Dears,,I created a new linux virtual machine and installed the Commvault Virtual Server package on it in order to use it as a VSA Access Node for our vCenter environment. However, the server does not appear as an available Access Node, and I am unable to use it for VMware backups.

If Compliance Lock is enabled on a Storage Policy, Does it affect anything else in the storage pool?

Hello,We have a client running file system level backups. Recently we associated it with a new storage policy and ran fresh full backups expecting a new Index will be created for that job.Running Synthetic-full backup ( after few incremental backups ) triggers Index restore job from the previous storage policy where the copy data paths were on a different media agent.The Index restore job fails as the communication between the current used media agent and previous one is blocked.Any Idea how to force the creation of new Index or to avoid the reference to the previous Index ? Thanks

Hi, Is it possible to perform a backup using the Block-based Backup technique with Separate proxy for Backup Copy? Client is a virtual machine running Oracle Linux (64-bit), VMware Tools version:11269 (Guest Managed)  The data is on the “Hard disk 3” mounted on /mnt/data. It’s an RDM disk.    The Block-based Backup technique is working fine.  When I check the IntelliSnap option and try to use a Separate proxy for Backup Copy (selecting a virtual machine Linux Media Agent Data Mover), the job completes with errors.  Error Code: [32:392]Description: Unable to find OS device(s) corresponding to clone(s). I got a scenario description.New PC (win 2025 or win 11), new openJDK (OpenJDK25U-jre_x64_windows_hotspot_25.0.1_8) in connection with netx.jar does not work. Test with OpenJDK21U-jre_x64_windows_hotspot_21.0.9_10 works as expected. Tested against a 11.40 commserveI tested it with with a windows 2019 box.OpenJDK25Ucommand java –jar netx.jartarget is a 11.36.72 machineconnection Ok, but browser on the left site does not work.! I can't add the hypervisor. We've already checked the communications and the credentials are correct. Does anyone have any idea why? The Commvault version is 11.34.28.   

Hi, I raised https://github.com/Commvault/cvpysdk/issues/191 for the immediate need we have, but in general I would like to raise more awareness to ensure Commvault SDK’s do not keep on using deprecated API calls going forward. Could someone please own the SDK updates in case a specific API call is deprecated to ensure the correct API endpoints are being used? Thanks!
