Hi All,I want to be sure that I am understanding the Commcell communication requirements. As I understand it there is one commserve server per commcell. For agents on endpoints, the agents have to communicate on port 8040. For the agent to be installed SMB is also required. From a security point of view it seems very risk allowing one server access to the entire server estate! Am I missing something?

Hi, We currently have our CommServe running on a Microsoft Cluster server in a dual datacenter setup. We need to migrate to new datacenters where Microsoft Cluster is not possible / allowed. The idea is to convert the current CommServe from a MS Clustered setup to a CommServer with LiveSync. First migrate the CommServe to a Standalone solution and then setup the LiveSync on the Standalone solution.My question: Is this possible and what are the setup for this? Kind regards,Marc

I am trying to set up a two node Azure SQL Cluster in Commvault.  The nodes get installed just fine, as does the cluster instance.  However when I try to add the database on this cluster I get the err message that’s in the title.  I’ve obviously changed the SQL name for security purposes but no matter what I try it will not add the new database instance.  Both nodes and the cluster instance are pingable from each other and from the commcell itself but cant add in a SQL database.  Ive configured the nodes as DIP’s in the control panel and the corresponding network settings show this. Anyone any ideas on whats Im doing wrong or missing?  Im tearing my hair out with this and have no issues with on prem sql instances. CheersTony_Q71

Hi guy, A few days ago, because of an oversight, our Commvault system license was over the capacity limit, then today, after I deleted loads of unwanted backups, the used license has been brought down to 14.202 TB, which is well under the total license of 17 TB. However, the “The system is over the licensed capacity / blabla” warning message just wouldn’t go away. So, I’m just wondering if there is anymore that I need to do ?

We have a job for our Kubernetes environment where there are three "vms" that are failing. The description in the General Tab has the details- "vm-ae25e5a6-a988-49d7-b485-f8d4cd9de3c3_653332_GX_BACKUP] was not found." Another error in the Events Tab indicates that this vm, "vm-bf48b8ed-1bdc-4a73-8954-4bc291167237_653332_GX_BACKUP] was not found." The Virtual Machine Status tab gives a Failure reason, "Virtual Machine not Found." for both of these vms. These vms have been added to the Content Tab within the Properties of the Sub Client (default). I can also see them when I browse for them. vCenter is creating Snapshots for both of these vms, however it appears that the Snapshots are deleted before they are backed up. Curious as to why this is happening and why they cannot be found. Event Description-Virtual machine [vm-b5a2ab24-676a-4050-867f-6110d65777b6_744463_GX_BACKUP] was not found. Please verify that the virtual machine still exists and that the host is in the connected state. If

DDB lookup times spiked, SSD are old SATA and under heavy load seem to be very slow. Is pruning only related to a data that is deduplicated? If ORA or SQL DB transaction logs being written to non deduplicated storage policy is pruning at all relevant to that data? How much DDB is being used during pruning? Is it very DDB intensive process?

Hi, we have a customer where we want to implement VMware continuous replications for his large VMs (11TB+).We have tested it with a small VM and it was running fine. but we have noticed that during the first sync it creates a VMware snapshot to backup/create the VM on the destination site. After the VM is created and the baseline is there the snapshot is removed and continuous replication is running.We have calculated how much time the first initialization has taken. The conclusion is that when we do this for the large VMs they will have a snapshots for almost two weeks. Now we are afraid that when we start a replication for this large VM and it will have a snapshot for two weeks, that after the first initialization the consolidation of the snapshot will give problems to the source VM.Is there anybody having a solution for the VMware continuous replication for large VMs? Is there a workaround for this like seeding or something?Regards Dominic

Hi, I have a question regarding metrics server package installation. Comcell to which I want to attach metrics host is on 11.24.32, but metrics package I chose is v11.25.latest because we have 5 comcells in total and 2 of them are already on sp25 and if I heard correctly - metrics should be the highest version?Install is failing to check client install requirement with CommServe. Post 7.7 How many releases happened, what are those I need this Info 

There is a requiremment from Unix team to extract a list of Unix servers (no windows or other OS) currently backing up in commvault. Usually I am using report → job summary tab to generate other reports in commvault. Is there any way to generate only Unix servers which are backing up in commvault without missing any servers. Thanks in advance

We have a Media agent MA1 (Physical Server) located at Site A with disk libarary still having jobs under retention till next one year. However, siteA is now decomissioned. We would like to rebuild MA1  and use storage at another site SiteB, but would like retain jobs which are still under retention.  Doing a backup job of CV_magnetic files to another disk library a good option What would be a best approach

Hi, I am facing error regarding connection to DeDuplication Database. It can be caused by many reason but my specific problem is that the directory with DDB is locked for write. This was confirmed by SIDBEngine.log and simply you cannot create folder in DDB folder.Status of DDB is ONLINE. I can freely read from it, I can freely travers through it, I can copy the folder to different place and here I can create files/folders inside without limit. There is no way to manage from CMV - it is not possible to backup, restore, seal, verify etc. I cannot move the partition. It seems as Windows/Hardware problem but….I checked windows logs - no events from disk, scsi etc.I checked filesystem - all looks fineI checked hardware events (it is HPE server, so iLO log, IML log, I checked smart array status)It seems that it is limited only to this DDB folder. On the same drive, same volume, different directory all working as usual. So there is no write protection on drive or volume level (checked by dis

Hi Team,We have oracle DBs which is having below schedules and retentionWeekly FUll  DB Backup- 3 months (Schedule - second, third , fourth and fifth week of month)Month FUll DB Backup - 1 Year ( Schedule First week of month)Archives - Incremental Every 3hrs retention 3 months.I have below queries here1) I am having archive backup retention 3 months. If i get a restore request for the monthly Full  Backup data (which was backed up one year ago) + Archives. Is it possible to restore the archives since i am having only 3 months of retention for the archives. If this is not possible what action i have to take here so that monthly DB backup + Archives can also be retained for 1 year + whatever archives are backed up for the weekly FULL backup those archives should be retained for only 3 months.Kindly suggest what changes are required here so that we can do apply to our setup.​​​​​  

Can I upgrades new feature releasse from v11sp9 to v11sp24? Should I upgrade feature release to v11sp16 first?

Hi,I'm getting the error [24:64] Description: There was nothing to restore - subclient(s) not backed up.When I do the restore of the virtual machine the restore works normally, but when I restore the guest files and folder, the commvault shows this error.  I can also browse the files normally, does anyone have any idea what might be going on? restores are for Nutanix AHV.

I am working for Linux file system Backup. Job got completed with errors and i see most of failed files are tagged as “Operation not permitted”. I would like to understand in what are all scenario’s for this issue and how we can overcome it.  Kindly suggest on this

Good Day.  I have a customer server that is having an issue with a Commvault reinstallation.   The Commvault agent was corrupted.  The recommendation from the Commvault Knowledge base was to uninstall using the Microsoft uninstall tool.  The MS uninstall tool ran successfully but the Commvault reinstallation is still failing.   When we execute the Commvault ContentStore we get “No 11.0 instance is installed on the setup.”  Has anyone experienced this behavior and if so, please point me to documentation that can help resolve this issue.  Thanks.  

You can refresh data-centers from the GUI, is there an equivalent for the REST api?The api explorer has /v2/vsa/hypervisor/clientID/refresh But that seems to only refresh the actual DC list, rather than the VM list.  Basically I want to be able discover a VM that is not currently a part of a subclient. Thanks.Chris.
