Hi, I have few question about deduplication. I will be very appreciate for help:how to backup servers with enabled deduplication - some special tips how to recover files from volumes with deduplication enabled is the option of data backup on such servers with the use of an installed agent recommended / not recommended, how does it affect the backup speed, why Commvault is not able to recover data from disks after deduplication, maybe something else needs to be configured?Thanks for help!

Hello,i used gxtail and log sequencer for many years and it helped many times to identify problems. The log sequencer files are from 2013 and seem to be deprecated now. Hi,i have imported a VM from XenServer to vSphere with Starwind Converter.When i try to backup the machine i get this error:Other machines on the vSphere server works fine and backup without an error.How can i solve this error for that VM?RegardsDennis

Hello, I am wondering if there is some way to copy, through File System agent, SAN attached volumes in VMs without having to select them one by one for every client (or filtering all the rest of volumes).My idea is to create a Virtual Server subclient to copy the VM itself and another FS subclient to copy the SAN-attached volumes, but avoiding copying again the content of VMDK for that VM. In a small and static environment, filtering the drives to exclude on a per-client base in FS subclient would be feasible, but if you have a big environment or an environment where VMs are constantly created and destroyed, the manual method is not possible.Do you know if it exists a way to automatically select only the SCSI/iSCSI volumes of a File System subclient? Or, that is the same, automatically exclude the non SCSI/iSCSI volumes of a File System subclient? Thanks!

In the Java Console I am trying to custom filter the subclient field of the Storage Policy Properties associated subclients. But this issue applies to all the fields in the Associated Subclients tab.I am trying reassociate some subclients with a new Storage Policy.  I want to filter on “contains”  or “ends with” mssql.  Select all the subclients that meet the criteria and reassociate them to the new subclient. But the conditions in filter are designed for numeric ranges.  is greater than is less than  is betweenThe filter condition should be keyed to text values, the same as they are for the operations filed in the job controller.contains doesn’t contain  begins with ends withI have noticed this misalignment of filter parameters in other places too. Is there a way to modify these filter conditions

Hi all,Does anyone have this issue where disks accumulate on the Proxy server?Some proxies have 23 disks even when there are no jobs running.Automount is disabled and Defender has the correct exclusions.I even added the nRemoveSnapshotRetry keys to additional settings even though I’m not sure if it’s applicable to AHV.Thank you in anticipation.

Hi I have 2 vmware hosts connected to storage 25 TB ,the storage is almost full ,When I try to backup vms , the backup fail since there is no space to take snapshot If I shut down the VMs , I will be able to take backup immediately or not Or any advice ? 

Hi Could you please advise, If Commvault is able to backup SMB share permissions when it backs up a share that is hosted by a failover cluster? i.e: if we have to restore an entire share through Commvault, will it also restore the share permissions or will these need to be backed up separately, eg: via the registry on the server?

I try to do a remote instalation since the console but mark a error of low space disk.And after when I try do a manual installation, the local installator marks two unfinished process that if I send to finish, the installer quits. How can I stop these bad installs or force my main install?

Hi guys! I’m completely new to REST API.I just downloaded the Postman CommVault Rest API Workspace and now I’m trying to start with the basic: authentication. But let’s get one step back to the Swagger UI. Just to exclude any wrong configuration inside Postman. I created a new test user inside the CommCell. This user is member of “master” group, so permissions should not be a problem. If I visit the Swagger UI (https://<webserver>/webconsole/sandbox/apiexplorer) and try the POST Login with this test user I get the message: errLogMessage": "Username/Password are incorrect"Well I’m pretty sure the username and the password is correct. I also tried to encode the password with Base64, but get the same error message. Other users also didn’t work. Also I can see a “Authorize” button on the top right corner. When I click on this button I can provide a Authtoken. But where I get this from? Obviously I’m doing something wrong here

Hi ThereI have a customer that uses Exchange Archive Mailbox with a quota of 14GB.The primary mailbox has a quota of 100MB and they have a policy to archive emails older than certain number of days (very short, like 10 days or less) to the Archive Mailbox.We also archive users’ mailbox with Commvault Mailbox Agent selecting both primary and Archive Mailbox.When checked the logs, a message states that the cleanup is skipped as the quota if 14GB and the current mailbox uses 100MB+It seems that the mailbox quota CV calculates also includes the Archive Mailbox quota , so when we specify Quota high watermark to 70% for example, and if the primary mailbox has exceeded that threshold the stubbing of emails do not happen on the primary mailbox as the Archive Mailbox has not reached that threshold.Wanted to know if this is an expected behavior and/or if there is any way to cleanup the mailbox based on quota only and ignoring the Archive Mailbox quota

Yesterday our environment did an automatic upgrade from 11.20.xx to 11.24.29.Previously I have had absolutely zero issues with data verification and backups and aux copies and all jobs show as passing data verification.Now I’m seeing errors/issues on aux copies and data verification along the lines of:Failed to process chunk [2840311] in media [V_98073], at the time of error in library [Disk Library] and mount path [[ma02] C:\Mount\maglib04], for storage policy [Backup to Disk] copy [Primary] MediaAgent []: Data read from media appears to be invalid..We’re using global dedupe and lots of synthetic full backups so I’m trying a proper full backup on a problem job to see what happens.Before I raise with support does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts please?This is a Windows MA environment where there have been zero issues this literally started to happen after the 11.24.29 install.Obviously this doesn’t seem

After some weird initial issues which were fixed by an update….. My Nutanix files jobs take a long long long time to backup (assuming they don’t fail or restart attempt at reboot). I’m talking  37 days for my current attempt, which for the first time, is past the scan phase. CommVault indicates the job is 4.72 TB for this subclient of the Nutanix Filer. Initially, I thought maybe it was the size causing the issues. (New to CommVault, new to Nutanix). However I found this YouTube video How to check disk performance using CVdiskPerf - YouTube indicating that high read times indicate a possible disk issue. My read % time for the job is 96.85%. This seems excessive.  Has anyone attempted to use the CVdiskPerf on their Nutanix Filer? How did you do it? Recommendations on Youtube tutorial or an SOP somewhere?

Hello, we have already patched the environment regarding the Log4J vulnerability and are at the 11.20.82 level.Now we have a system that has been equipped with a MySQL agent. The backup can be set up but this does not start. Our network team has analyzed the traffic and informed us that Log4J is being used and therefore the traffic is blocked. All other agents show no problem. Is this a false positive or can the problem be fixed for the MySQL agent.I have attached a screenshot of the security warning.with kind regardsThomas

Hi Commvault Community, Just wondering if the Media Agent in Commvault uses a specific database ? Since the CommServ uses SQL DB for its metadata, I was wondering if the MA uses certain DB for DDB or Index Cache or anything else.

We  have 2 Synology 24TB storage libraries, one for the primary and the other at another site for the AuxCopy.The primary has Free Space 15.34TB, Size on Disk 8.59TB, Total Application Size 30.5TB.The AuxCopy has Free Space 3.62TB, Size on Disk 20.33TB, Total Application Size 30.33TB Shouldn’t the AuxCopy be an exact replica of the Primary?  Why would it be larger? Thanks for any suggestions.Larry

Hi everybody!We are in the middle of a storage migration at our remote site. In that site is configured the aux copy that acts as the source of the Live Sync. There the storage is going to be retired soon so we would like to know if there is a supported procedure to move locally the contents of this Selective Copy to another new one in the new storage avoiding to send the data through the WAN. Some questions about the procedure are not clear because:An aux copy between Selective Copies only copies Fulls so how can we copy the last incrementals? In order to allow the new source of Live Sync to be able to receive the incrementals from the Primary copy (headquarters) must be modified by the command:qoperation execscript -sn DisablePreviousJobsOnNewFull -si @i_SPName = 'storage_policy_name' -si @i_CopyName='selective_copy_name' -si @i_Set = '1'          but we don’t know if it is possible to have 2 selective copie

We have an VSA proxy which has the media agent installed, is it best practice to enable ransomware protection on the proxy. whether it affects any backups  ? but proxy is not owning any disk library.

Hi everyone This is my first post. I was trying to restore some files I lost from an earlier backup. I could view the files and folders. I selected the copy precedence to be 1 (my primary copy)However, whenever the operation starts, it gives the error “Failed to read media during restore” and stops at 5%Everything seems fine. Until I tried to skip the errors, and I find out that the folders are restored, but no files in them.Please help out. Is there something in the settings I have to change?
