Hi all,A few days ago, we were asked to deconfigure the backups of an Exchange 2010 DAG database. Additionally, we deleted all content from the primary backup, as we were told it wouldn’t be necessary to retain that data any longer.Today, the team has been asked to restore the data we deleted a few days ago (Murphy’s Law, you know). The thing is, since we deleted all content from the primary copy, we only have the data on some LTO7 tapes that haven’t been rewritten or formatted. Is there anything we can do to try to retrieve and restore that data from the LTO tapes? Thanks!
Is anyone from Commvault able to comment on whether or not there is an Exchange Mailbox Backup Agent on the roadmap?
Hi,I’m trying to migrate from Schedule Policies and Storage Policies to Plans. On Schedule Policies it has been possible to request an incremental backup before or after a Synfull backup within the same schedule. Is something alike also available for Plans ?rgdsKlaus
Hi,New here and wanted to ask a question and appreciate any answers! We have a PowerStore client backing up a 35 subclients. We have about ½ of them running for several days, two in particular are close to 10 days run time. We just impleneted backing up these fileshares in PowerStore so I am sure there are somw tweaks we can make. The start times for the fileshares to start backing up are staggered. Some of the larger subclients have a very low throughput at 0.08 GB/hr while others 3000 GB/hr.Any help at all would be awesome. Thanks
How does the Software Remote Installation process works. What technology is used, what services or ports needs to be allowed on client.
Hello Team, I planned to perfom a hardware refresh of a media agent using this procedurehttps://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/performing_mediaagent_recovery.htmlThe media agent has lun attached provided by Netapp Storage (mount path)I'm confident because I've already done it, but this MA has a tape library attached. I am checking if it is a DAS or FC(zoning) do you have any tips ? Thanks !
Hi All, When reading documentation for Commvault CSI Volume Snapshot-Based Backups for the backup process : Backup Process for Kubernetes (commvault.com)I can find that : …/…Backup process creates a temporary pod and mount the temporary Persistent Volume Claim to read the data. I understand that the Persistent Volume Claim is mounted on the CV Pod (temp). But what is the data path for the backup? Is it a egress trafic from CV Pod(temp) to Access Node? (egress : process of data sharing externally through a network’s outbound traffic from a pod). Could you please explain? If so, is is possible to use a dedicated backup network between the CV pod and the Access Node? Thanks in advance for any explanation!Best regards,Luc
In RHEL 7 and 8 versions, the system state backup failed with this message during 1-touch full backup and incremental backup.Message: System State Backup Failed: [Error: The following utility is missing from the system [killall]. Install the corresponding rpms/dpkg before running a new incremental one-touch backup] I desperately need your help
Hi Commvault experts,I would like to discuss following situation. We need to move the mount paths of the disk library from the current Media Agent to a new one. The mount paths are attached to the Media Agent and appear as local disks; however, they are actually presented/mapped from the storage array as local disks/paths. My question is: how do we move these mount paths to the new Media Agent, when no physical data move is required? It’s simply a matter of re-presenting these mount points to the new Media Agent from Commvault's point of view.Your explanation will be much appreciated!
Hi Commvault experts,I have one more question regarding the Media Agent migration, specifically about the Index Cache. Is it absolutely necessary to move the Index Cache? In some resources, I've read that it might be possible to skip this step. Is that correct? Can the Index Cache be rebuilt automatically during new backup jobs? Also, is the actual process of moving the Index Cache directory simply a copy-paste operation in the operating system?Once the Media Agent migration is complete, I can close all related threads and provide detailed comments.
Hello,we have scenario that we have two Media Agent in an OnPrem Location for customer.ma01 is used for infrastructure Backup mainly VSA Backup etc.(direct connection to CS)ma02 shoud be used for Agent Backup (SQL ;SAP etc..) in Customer Network (direct connection to Clients / Connection to CS via Topology)ma01 with VSA Backup is working fine.ma02 if we select manually for Agent Backup also works fine, but for scheduled Jobs always ma01 is selected and not ma02.So we found following Additional setting:https://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=PreferredMediaAgentGroup“ PreferredMediaAgentGroup“We activate this Additional Setting on both groups for MA and Agents with same value “ma02” but it does not work still ma01 is picked. Question: Has anybody used this setting or can explain what we do wrong the explanation in documentation is not that clear: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/setting_up_client_and_mediaagent_pairing_for_data_protection_operat
We have been a very long time Intellisnap VMware ESX users. Sounds like we may be moving to Hyper-V. I am just wondering if any other folks have already run into this? How did you backups speeds turn out? I am curious what we may be in for with our backup windows. We currently get some really good throughput with the VMware backups. 500 GB/hr to 2,000 GB.hr. Any care to share your Hyper-V backup speeds?Thank you
Hello, I want to expand the current disk storage. How do I find out whether the current Media Agent can connect additional MP or its on the limit? We have 4 node with 2x ssd on each node. But i dont know if we have LARGE or EXTRA LARGEAt the moment we have 2x Libraries with 1PB each
Hello! I have been a Commvault user since 2020, and finally it was time to ask or discuss this feature. Many times when there is an issue with a job, we see the error code xx:xxx (or similar syntax), the error code is highlighted. We can click on it, and it will do a search in the commvault knowledge base. Could be very useful. However..I can remember maybe 2-3 times where the error code link actually showed a relevant article. Most times, there are no articles related to the specific code.. If I remove the special characters, then once in a while I will find something related to the issue, but most times it doesn’t help.Room for improvement.
Hi, Was wondering if there’s a report I can use that will list server, database and all the restore points we have available. I know I can go into each database recovery in the portal and use the calendar but we have 5000+ databases so looking for the raw data if poss. Something like this would be great, if it exists. Many thanks
Hello,I want to know if it’s possible to copy the content of a specific tape to a disc library ? Regards,Fabrice
Hello everybody,AWS Backup is currently offering Full and Incremental level backups when it comes to protect RDS instances on AWS Cloud (Reference: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/USER_WorkingWithAutomatedBackups.html)Using Commvault v11.32, documentation states that Commvault can only perform Full level backup which involves huge cost when doing AWS Native Snapshot protection when it comes to protect RDS instances (Reference: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/backing_up_amazon_rds_instance_group.html) Is there any way to perform Incremental snapshot of RDS instances in the future using Commvault on AWS ? FYI, I am already aware about the export and dump based backup for RDS instances but those are too inconvenient to restore (for export, it requires an EC2 instance with a configured database to receive the data; for dump based backup, we need a configured database engine on an Access Node or the Media Agent to receive the data, which is a nigh
We are experiencing a behavior only in some full jobs of a particular schedule, this happens in protected objects, the error messages are Remote I/O error, what we have detected is that the next incremental backup takes the objects that marked error in the full backup, we have moved the schedule backups but the failure continues, the backups are directed to disk libraries, has anyone had this behavior that can help us solve it.
We have a physical media agent server, that is very old and want to replace it with new physical server. So, we need to migrate / Hardware refresh the media agent server with same hostname and IP.What is the procedure and steps, we need to folow to perform this task smoothly.
Hello All,I’m a newbie, starting with CommVault and see these “Event Codes” on a Data Aging Job every day.Event ID 97531656 Event Code 13:6 (Exiting with errors - some files may not have been pruned) Event ID 9753162 Event Code 13:48 (Data is partially pruned due to database problem)As stated, I’m a newbie at this and don’t know if there is something I can do about this or should do about this.Any insight would be great.TIA, AlanKeno
Hi We tried to active windows 2019 of RO1200 with below doc(https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/what_s_in_box_01.html), we found found there was no Windows Server 2019 Standard Product Key sticker on the top of the server. Is there any way to find the Windows Server 2019 Standard Product Key for RO1200? Thank you in advance for your answer !
Hello, we recently ran through a Security Health Review, with a third-party, and it was advised that we turn on MFA for Commvault. I worked with our Infosec team and got Okta setup on our Commvault Command Center. However, I was wondering how do I get the Commcell to automatically redirect to Okta when someone is logging into the Commcell, while inside the server, or using the Jar file?I know there is the ‘Login with Command Center’ link, however, I can put my username and password in, and I get in fine (without an Okta prompt). Is there a way to force the ‘Login’ link?We are on version 11.32.63.Thanks!
Hello Commvault Community, I would like to ask you if you might know which setting or configuration is responsible for refreshing the information in the Index Servers properties in the “Health Check” column (from CommandCenter). All IndexServers are working and there aren’t problems with them, it's just that it shows an outdated Health Check and the question came up as to why and what might be responsible for it, to take an analysis of why it hasn't been updated. Enviroment version: 11.34.38 Thanks in advance,Kind RegardsKamil
we have a cluster with 4 postgres server.we tried to use the additional setting called bEnablePostgresClusterBackup but the jobs are failing with the next error:"Error Code: [94:13] Description: PostgreSQL Database: [Failed to initilize PostgresStandbyBackup-] Data Backup Failed."our sp is 11.32
hello, we have postgres cluster that fails with the next error:"PostgreSQL Database: [-postgres-] Data Backup Failed with PostgreSQL Error: [pg_dump: warning: tnere are circuar toreign-key constraints on this table: pg_dump: nodes pg_dump: You might not be able to restore the dump without using --disable-triggers or temporarily dropping the constraints. pg_dump: Consider using a full dump instead of a --data-only dump to avoid this problem."I thought commvault already uses full dump to backup.
