Commvault Cloud supports the protection of Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS instances in single and multi-AZ configurations using native RDS automated backups, allowing for point-in-time recovery (PITR).  To enable the PITR for Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS, additional permissions for RDS APIs are required to be added to a policy in the user account. These permissions allow for enabling the RDS automated snapshots with appropriate retention, thereby protecting the database transactional log files.  What steps should be taken to enable the PITR for the Amazon RDS database? The following steps should be followed in the AWS Console:Sign into the AWS Management Console and Open the IAM (Identity and Access Management) console of the appropriate AWS user account at https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/. Currently using Metallic and receiving the error message for several clients that jobs are already in progress but not able to locate the job.  Has anyone else seen this issue?  

We started using Metallic O365 backups back when it was Infinite Retention.  We have reached 70% of our Quota in just a little over two years and would like to investigate why.  We manage Storage in our On-Prem Commvault by setting the retentions below.  I do not find these granular settings in the Cloud Portal.Can I set these specific retentions within the Metallic Office 365 Backup Environment? I want to start with our standard retention limit,  Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly.Daily - 7 CopiesWeely - 5 Copies (Each Saturday)Monthly - 12 Copies (Last backup of each day of Month)Yearly 5 Copies - (Last backup of each year)

I am trying to export the old backed up mailbox to a PST but it showed error that “Selected items size [43524715222 bytes] exceed max size allowed to export [26843545600 bytes]”. I could not split the folder as it is just one folder [Inbox]. Any idea how to resolve this? Thank you.

Hello,We set up a new Metallic environment recently. We are backing up Exchange/OneDrive for a small subset of people. I added these people to a Static AD group created in OnPrem AD. Now I realise that a Dynamic AD group would be better. I see that if I convert the Static group to a Dynamic group, all members will be removed. I found that I already have a Dynamic AD group that I can use. Can I start using the Dynamic group instead of the Static group? The screenshot may make more sense.RegardsFergus

Hi community, Recently we started using Metallic as our backup solution for our Salesforce. There is a field in Salesforce generated automatically as an external ID. I wonder if there is any possibility to remain the same external ID when doing the restore. I tried the record restore and it seems Salesforce generated a new ID. Thanks.

Hi folks,Getting this errorHere’s the background, simplifiedOut of space in Metallic, storage policy is set to 365days/1 cycle. We moved to Metallic sometime last spring I think? Either way, chewed up 50TB in about 6 months.I think I have it down now where I have two storage policies, backing up the same stuff on the same retention period. However, if I try and reduce the retention rate of one of the policies (from 365/1 to say, 180 days / 1 cycle), I the error above.How do i get past that? I’ve submitted this to support and they have said nothing about any form to be filled out.

Morning,   Is it possible to schedule client throttling? I’m getting users complaining of sudden drops in bandwidth at odd times of the day, and when it happened to a tech, he was able to pinpoint it to a backup in progress. It dropped performance from 2 Gb/s to under 100 Mb/s, briefly, but it was very noticeable to all on that segment. Thanks!Roger

Hello Guys,I am trying to restore a Shrepoint online file but there is no option to use uncheck “ Overwrite existing file”moreover, there is no option to create a folder and then restore so a to avoid accridental overwrite.why is it so?

Hi, I have a windows server which is a main file server.  However if i need to restore a file or folder to the original location. I seem to need access permissions to the destination folder.  Is there a specific role or credential that would mitigate against this, and allow my Metallic\Domain  user account to perform the restore please.  Regards Tony 

Hi team,we are taking backup of some 9000 mailboixes usign metallic and I Need to export list of Mailboxes with Name and "added to content on" and licensed cloumn., with usual export we dont get " added to content on" Attribute and i believe backend team can do it. its a bit urgnt as we are running into licensing issues.i raised support case for this but they said it can be taken as feature request only.Can’t they simply export it using sql query from DB considering it as one time request only? 

i am new in Threatwise .. and i want to configure it..i can’t know how i can configure the ip address for eth0 .. in the vm console i can configure just  Appliance identity (Group ID and Appliance ID), connection to TSOC (Management Server Address, and proxy connection as needed).but the ETH0 not show ..is any way to configure it to let the VM access the internet

We are planning to change retention to one of the active plan. Currently "Backed up version retention" is set to infinite. We would like to change it to 365 days. Will it have any impact on running backup jobs ?

Hi Team,We have configured Oracle backup in Metallic cloud, there are two sub clients, one is default and another one archive log sub client.Currently the log backup is running every 10mins but not able to see the schedule configuration. Please advise how to check the schedule option in  metallic.   

If I understand correctly with a license of 20TB AirGap customer can send to Azure up to 20TB of local data. With AirGap the space occupied in Azure will be 2x or more (40+TB). There is no extra cost for the customer for this 2x+ capacity, it is included in the Commvault license they have correct?Thanks a lotPanos

  I have been tasked with backing up our OS drive on our on premises Metallic Gateway. We need to include the servers Window’s System State as part of the backups. I have looked in our File Server list in metallic, and I do not see the gateway listed. I know the server has the File System agent already installed on it from when Metallic was originally installed. Is It considered a best practice to back up the gateway’s OS drive. I should note the the gateway is also a cache server for local backups, and we do not want to backup the deduped data volumes. If backing up the OS drive of the Metallic Gateway is not recommended,  what is the general process for rebuilding the OS drive on that server?  

When configuring Webhooks in SaaS console, you can set “Authentication” to “Secret HMAC”, which results in x-cv-signature-256 header being added to the payload with the digest of the message in it.I would like to be able to validate the message by calculating the same digest at the receiving end and comparing to the value in the header. Trouble is, I cannot work out how Commvault generates the digest. For example, working with another API, the digest is calculated based on the HTTP method + current epoch + body + API endpoint. I need to do this in Powershell but any guidance or code examples in other languages would be appreciated.
